Mahmoud Abbas: All refugees have option to demand Israeli Citizenship

MEMRI:Mahmoud Abbas: Referendum On Any Agreement Among Palestinians Worldwide, No To Jewish State

Speaking to young Fatah activists on March 6, 2014, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said that any agreement must be “confirmed by popular referendum of all the Palestinians worldwide.” “We shall never agree to recognize the Jewish state,” he said.

Following are excerpts, which aired on Palestinian Authority TV:

Mahmoud Abbas: “Our position is that the settlements – from start to finish – are illegal. They talk about settlement blocs, or about settlements here and there, but we say that every house and every stone that were placed in the West Bank since 1967 and to this day are illegal and we do not recognize them.” […]

“No resolution that we agree upon with the others will be passed unless it is confirmed by popular referendum of all the Palestinians worldwide.”

“Every Palestinian, from Canada to Japan – that includes the Palestinians living abroad as well – will have to agree on the proposal. They will vote in favor or against. If they say “no,” the proposal will not pass.” […]

“The Right of Return is a personal right. If you are a refugee, your son is a refugee as well. Perhaps you will decide to relinquish this right while your son decides not to, or vice versa. Your son is free to do so. When we say that this is a personal choice, it means that he can decide for himself.
We will all be making a choice: One option is to remain where we are – in Jordan, in Syria, in Lebanon, and so on – and receive compensation…Of course…

“The second option is to go to another country, as part of an agreement. If someone wants to emigrate to Canada, he is free to do so. Wherever one goes, one remains a Palestinian. In this case, he will receive compensation as well.

“The third option is to decide to return to the Palestinian state, and to receive compensation.

“He can also decide to return to the State of Israel. In such a case, he will receive compensation and return.

“These are the options that we place before the Palestinians. They will choose. If you want to stay where you are – fine. If you want to go abroad – fine. If you want to come to Palestine – fine. If you choose to return [to Israel] and hold Israeli citizenship… This is what it means. Someone asked me how he could become an Israeli citizen. I asked him if he wanted to continue to be stateless after he is back. He will be returning to the State
of Israel.

“All the refugees who number 5 million today, along with their offspring, are considered 1948 refugees. There are no refugees who came from Nablus or Ramallah. They are all from Tiberius, Safed, Acre, Nazareth, Jaffa, Beersheba, and so on.” […]

“What we do not want to accept is the ‘Jewish state.’ We shall never agree to recognize the Jewish state.”

  1. @ ArnoldHarris:

A better term I suggest respectfully than

    DPs (Diaspora Palestinians)

    would be Stateless Arabs.

As the Ottoman Empire is gone and so the Roman Empire . All I see is Israel.

  2. What would we say and how would we respond if, one at a time, each of those DPs (Diaspora Palestinians) approached a suitable Orthodox Jewish rav, asked permission to study Judaism, then quit Islam and took up haShem’s very own faith? Assuming you could get him into the country before his own family sliced him to pieces with butcher knives, would he or she be acceptable?

I cannot for a moment seriously imagine such a scenario. But I have my own dreams from time to time. Some are mordant, Others are hilarious.

  3. In other words the US (the Pr.) condones the permanent state of non-peace. Pr. O agreed specifically to the Islamic nature of the Iranian state to kiss their behind. He denies in some ways to IL the same right as Iran. Probably Pr. O agrees with Iran description of the US and IL as the great and little Satans!!!!

Your defeatist attitude towards calling a spade a spade is what enables the Nazi adage that if you tell a lie often enough

Do you ever edit your post???? For, let’s say, content!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sweetie

  5. @ yamit82:

Devote your energies to what matters most and what will have some immediate effect.

Not saying its a simple task but it needs to be taken seriously. Maybe not popular but certainly a description of the objective, verifiable (and even generally known) truth. It’s been J&S for thousands of years and only recently renamed by an illegal conqueror. How can energies have an immediate effect when you’ve conceded the argument by using the nomenclature of your enemies fictitious narrative? When I say “Palestinian” no matter in what context, I’ve conceded that my subject is the legitimate inhabitant of Palestine. If I refer to the same person as the Jordanian, I have truth on my side and the entire controversy remains an open topic rather than a foregone conclusion.

Your defeatist attitude towards calling a spade a spade is what enables the Nazi adage that if you tell a lie often enough, it becomes the truth. The only weapon against such Orwellian outcome is speaking the truth in not only what we say but also in what labels we use. Otherwise we just cut ourselves off at the knees.

  6. @ yamit82:

A contest should be held in which names can be chosen . The winner of contest should receive a prize. Something that fits the gravity and importance an appropriate name. Surely you and phoenix’s fertile brains come up with something.

  7. @ Yidvocate:

Fat chance with BB and his lemmings in power.

Begin tried changing the terminological discourse by using the Jewish term Y&S instead of the west bank. Few outside of right wing blogs in Israel use the term. Too little too late and in the end it doesn’t matter anymore. Let them call themselves whatever they want. Devote your energies to what matters most and what will have some immediate effect.

  8. yamit82 Said:

PM issues statement of ‘regret’ over the shooting of a Jordanian man who was killed in an altercation with IDF forces

That was a cowardly statement by BB. One never betrays ones own especially when they put at threat.

  9. @ yamit82:

“everyone else calls them Palestinians using another term only will serve to muddy the waters of discourse.”

High time the putrid waters of discourse got muddied up. We’ve bought into the lies for far too long and if the only way to clear the murky waters is to muddy them up even more, so be it. Perhaps with the recent passing of Judge Edmond Levy Z”l, it is now time to undust the Levy Report and start the muddying process. It’s never too late to tell the truth and we have no choice but to do so if we are going to sustain.

  10. @ the phoenix:

A bit late to try and change the lexicon of terminology. I don’t care what they call themselves there is no Palestine or a people called Palestinians but if they want to call themselves Palestinians and 99.99% of everyone else calls them Palestinians using another term only will serve to muddy the waters of discourse.

Here too we Israelis are mostly at fault by adopting their terminologies and their Narratives. Almost 25 years has passed since Israel helped create the Pali authority and gave them sanction and international credibility along with Jewish Land, Jewish money and Jewish approved weapons and training. We all know what is meant by the word Palestinian. A stinking rodent like Arab.

  11. @ the phoenix:

I agree the concept you speak of is called “semantic infiltration”. The word used actually comes to define the entire discussion. Witness how the “Disputed Territories” morphed over time imperceptibly into the “Occupied Territories” into the “Palestinian Occupied Territories” into the “Illegally Occupied Palestinian Territories”. With such labels there is no need for further deliberation and counter arguments are a waste of time. As for the fakestinians, I prefer to call them the “pali-posers”. A much more accurate title. We need to be much more careful with our use of language and terms as when adopt the enemies false terminology we concede the argument even before it starts.

International Outrage as Netanyahu Changes Lightbulb in Jerusalem Home

ISL – Jerusalem, 9 December, 2012 – The international community expressed outrage yesterday after it become known that Israeli Prime Minister, the hawkish Mr. Netanyahu, changed a lightbulb in his home in Jerusalem. UN chief, Moon-Sun Tide said that he is extremely disappointed in the actions of the Israeli Prime Minister, which may have set back peace for another decade. High placed sources in the American government said that US President Barak Obama had the worst hissy fit ever and had to be forcibly restrained from calling Netanyahu a dodo-head. Britain and France threatened to continue to despise Jews and serve Muslim interests… to their own detriment. In the West Bank, moderate Palestinian President Mr Abbas issued a statement saying that “This latest provocation proves beyond the shadow of doubt that the Israelis do not wish for peace and that, regrettably there will be no peace in the region until all the Jews are killed.”

For his part, Netanyahu apologized for changing the light bulb in the living room of his house in downtown Jerusalem
, claiming that his actions did not in any way shape or form signify a deviation from the policies set down by his predecessors and the international community. “Changing light bulbs in Jerusalem is permitted according to the Oslo accords,” a sweating Netanyahu said to reporters today, adding desperately, “Even Rabin changed light bulbs.” But the invocation of the Holy Rabin only served to further enrage the horde of Leftist Israeli journalists, so that Netanyahu had to be ushered out of the back door by his security detail, which feared for his life.

Politic analysts in Israel opined that the radical move by Netanyahu was part of the political gamesmanship conducted by all parties before the upcoming election, in which the Likud pretends to be more right-wing than it actually is, and the other Jewish parties on the Left follow suit. Senior analyst Hanan Bamba said that the world needs to understand the situation and relax, since Netanyahu will undoubtedly return to implementing the policies of the Left the minute he is voted into office once again.

  13. @ Bear Klein:
Actually I don’t think we disagree at all.
For Israel to FINALLY annex j&s, … I would say it is about time!
Those that choose to stay, must have AN EXTREMELY SHORT LEASH and Israel should not hesitate to deport ad lib.
The only part that it seems we were not in agreement is perhaps based more on semantics.
I believe that they should NEVER be referred to as “Palestinians” for it only gives them legitimacy.
It is THIS legitimization by words to which I object.
I have reread your comment (#7), and I guess it could be seen going either way….
Believe me, I am not arguing for argument’s sake … I am only trying to point out that all sentences that we write and speak should address to these invented people as such, the word ‘Palestinian state’ should never be uttered etc…

And as far as ‘mixed company’….. I prefer to err on the side of caution….
i would never say the ‘p’ word and whenever inadvertently somebody refers to this as such I would immediately point out that there is no such thing as ‘p’, there never was and there will never be.

  14. BB has already by declaration accepted most of Olmerts and Baraks giveaways which inlude Eastern Jerusalem including the Temple mount whether to the PLO or fig leaf International UN administration. What is left to be decided is the Wall and about 7% of the West Bank. The rest is already ceded.

Netanyahu ‘Regrets’ Shooting of Jordanian Judge
PM issues statement of ‘regret’ over the shooting of a Jordanian man who was killed in an altercation with IDF forces.

Brave BB and Barak against Jews. BB is an enemy of the Jewish people.

See video of forced evacuation by our own Gestapo!! Only following orders. 🙁

It’s Final: Hevron’s ‘Peace House’ belongs to Jews

After a six-year-long trial, Supreme Court rules that disputed house in Hevron was duly purchased.

  15. @ the phoenix:

I disagree with you respectfully. I believe in honest thought presentation even in mixed company so to speak.

The two state solution is a mirage for people wanting to believe in mirages. It does not exist in reality. Any land Israel gives up goes to Iranian backed terrorists who want to conquer all of Israel. It is a formula for war not peace.

Israelis’ want peace and security, as a Jewish democratic nation. That has been the goal as a nation. The Palestinians by their violent actions, speeches, textbooks, maps, refuse to accept Israels goals no matter what the size of the borders. So the TWO STATE SOLUTION concept is a MISTAKE. So a new concept is needed.

The best idea to change the dynamics of the failed two state solution is the “One State Israel” plan by Naftali Bennett This plan provides for normalization with the possibility of peace in the very very long run.

In short Israel will annex Area C of the West Bank (called Judah and Samaria for 2000 years accept for the 19 years Jordan ruled the area illegally). Herein live 400,000 Jews and where relatively few Palestinians live est. 40- 50K (the Arabs living herein will be offered Israeli citizenship or residency at their choice. This area is also vital for Israeli security.
1.4 million Palestinians live in Area A/B they will be able to offered to manage their own affairs independently (short of a full blown military.) This would be similar to San Remo.

The idea as Bennett himself says it is not perfect. Hopefully when the idea of a two state solution finally dies, the local Arabs will gravitate eventually to accepting the status quo. This may take a while and I am hoping for a situation such as the Basque once they realized they can not get a separate state went on with their lives except for a few hardball diehards.

  16. @ Bear Klein:

Okay No Problem NO Palestinian State.

They can maintain their unrealistic and delusional positions until the Year 3000 and let us find out if it got them anything.

Careful with this one, mr Klein,
What I mean by that, is that it would be perfectly ok to say that amongst ourselves….Wink wink nod nod…..
We know what this means, and in a far fetched way, to give him benefit of the doubt (even though it would be VERY ill deserved) perhaps that’s what bibi is Hoping for as well.

But once, these sentences get picked up by the garden variety antisemite, what THEY HEAR is:
“Obviously, the ‘Palestinians’ deserve a country…. Obviously, they are an entity…
If the state of Israel recognizes it, and they are only haggling over the price of the merchandise…. It only stands to reason that there HAS to be something there……”

From a practical pov, your comment makes sense, except that it could have a ripple effect of delegitimizing the entire Jewish state of Israel.

  17. Okay No Problem NO Palestinian State.

They can maintain their unrealistic and delusional positions until the Year 3000 and let us find out if it got them anything.

  18. @ the phoenix:
    “And reneg on everything…..”

Absolutely! Lying and prevarication are an article of faith with these people!

My worry is that Abbas will suddenly wise up and appear to be a serious negotiator. The people on our side would say, “See,
    our negotiations are bearing fruit!”

Then once the dust settles Abbas and company would revert to type and rain terror on the State of Israel.

  19. Yidvocate’s 3 choices:

    1. Those not west of the Jordan River can stay where they are and wallow in their victim hood;
    2. Those west of the Jordan River need to be repatriated in Jordan as soon as possible, like yesterday;
    3. Or, they can all go hell and meet their 72 dark-eyed virgins for the greater glory of Allah.

  20. @ Mickey Oberman:

Despite Israeli concessions he has not budged an inch from his obdurate stances on any issue and has given nothing in return.

    Well thank god for that!
With present goi needing a ‘justification’ for EVERYTHING, this just provides them with a flimsy fig leaf….
If this musloid were smart (in itself, an oxymoron) he would agree to “Israel is a Jewish state, we look forward to a new era with the alyahood… Yadayadayada ”
And reneg on EVERYTHING , after (God forbid!!!) Judea and Samaria are no longer Israel’s…

  21. Why does Israel bother wasting its time with this powerless anti Semite?

Despite Israeli concessions he has not budged an inch from his obdurate stances on any issue and has given nothing in return.

Obviously he can not be a bargaining partner. He simply will not bargain. He will just keep repeating his same old stultified mantras ad infinitum.

He should be ignored, his every utterance should be disregarded and he should be refused entry to any and all discussions and meetings with Israelis.

  22. And the idiot John Kerry will just look the other way and dismiss all this talk as just talk
and not intended as a true course of action.

Meanwhile Israel is held to ridiculous demands–the release of inveterate terrorists and
baby killers, land swaps that would leave the State of Israel virtually defenseless,
    and on and on.

We’ve seen the “land for peace” formula work its magic in Gaza. Enough!
When will the GOI wake up?
