Administrative Detention Ordered Against Two Jewish Activists

T. Belman. I am totally against detention orders against Israeli citizens. There is insufficient evidence to try these two let alone convict them. They are being incarcerated because of their beliefs.

EttingerSix-month long administrative detention orders were issued Sunday morning against two right-wing Jewish activists – Meir Ettinger and Evyatar Slonim.

The orders were signed by Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon on the recommendation of the Israel Security Agency (ISA or Shin Bet).

Slonim was arrested last Tuesday, a day after Ettinger – the grandson of Rabbi Meir Kahane – was also detained, both on suspicion of “Jewish extremist activity.”

According to legal aid organization Honenu, the administrative detention orders were issued minutes before the start of a remand extension hearing at theNazareth Magistrate’s Court.

Police apparently demanded administrative detention, for fear the court would order the release of both Slonim and Ettinger for lack of solid evidence.

Under administrative detention, a relic from the British mandate period used almost exclusively against Palestinian terrorists until now, the two activists face six months of endlessly renewable detention without any evidence required.

Following the issuance of the orders, the court hearing was rendered moot and the pair were taken into custody without discussion.

The nationalist activists follow behind Mordechai Meir, a young Jewish resident of Ma’ale Adumim, who was arrested Tuesday night and immediately placed under administrative detention.

Honenu attorney Aharon Roza denounced the orders, stressing his protest against “the announcement that Ettinger and Slonim are to be arrested by administrative order rather than go to court for the remand hearing which was supposed to be held today.”

  1. @ Bear Klein:
The constellation who controls Israel since MAPAI times will never allow fundamental changes. Not ever.
To eventually call for a constitutional convention one must first clear the DECK, I made sure the spelling is correct…
One sided civil war has been on since the Altalena and since Oslo has taken massive murderous tones… by proxy.
This is a one sided list of that civil war casualties.
    1800 murdered
    12000 maimed for life.
10000 religiously cleansed. 8000 from Gush Katif and N. Shomron and the rest from Amona, Bet EL and many other places.
I do not recall a single case of a kibbutz, the majority of which are built over lands owned by others, being demolished to restore the rights of the “owners”.

We look like the US on this.
The US keeps over 480 “Indian Reservations”. Cum camps several of which I visited and shouts to the four winds against us trying to retake what is actually ours.

  2. Shumuel I do not approve of jailing people for six months without trial.
I also do not approve of civil war.

I am for democratic changes and Israel needs to create a constitution!

  5. @ Bear Klein:
Lets allow Netanyahu to start the “desaparecido” process, which he is already well on his way to prepare for and then our friend little Bear will, maybe, have a change of heart.
I lived through Junta times and what is being done here has no difference with that era’s nefarious initial process.
ONE DOES NOT incarcerate untried people. NEKUDAH!

  6. What happen to democracy and due process prior to arrest and imprisonment? What is more dangerous the alleged Jewish arsonists or those burning up the right to due process and a trial before imprisonment?

  7. This is the pretend “modern madina” in action, democracy and freedom of speach exist, provided you don’t use them. In other words seig heil ….. I bless these great ones that they end up like Mousolini, in public of course.

  8. Ah! And I thought I would never again see Junta styled “desaparecidos” poliztei aktions after I saw that at a certain South American country. I thought Pinochet procedures were a thing of the past. But no! That is alive and well at the “only demokrrgrgrgratiahhh” in the Middle East.
    WARNING!
I know the flow my friends, it will not be long before the next steps are enacted by the demokkkrratik gangsters.
It is as if I never left that place.

  9. This is part of the civil war of the Masonic left on Jewish nationalists from even before 1948 when Ben Gurion’s people betrayed Menachem Begin, et al’s people to the British. The Haganah against the Palmach, Etzel, etc.
