Citing Pressure From Trump, Netanyahu Tries to Torpedo Legislation to Annex West Bank Settlement

Netanyahu asks Minister Bennett to postpone a vote on annexing Ma’ale Adumim, says Trump’s advisers asked him not to surprise the incoming U.S. administration with unilateral steps, Haaretz learns.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is trying to torpedo a bill to annex the West Bank settlement of Ma’aleh Adumim, slated to come up for a vote Sunday in a ministerial panel. Haaretz has learned that Netanyahu spoke by phone Friday with Education Minister Naftali Bennett (Habayit Hayehudi) and asked him to postpone discussion of the bill in light of messages conveyed by advisers of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Netanyahu told Bennett that Trump’s advisers said no unilateral steps should be taken by Israel before the Netanyahu-Trump meeting, scheduled to take place in the first week of February, but rather to coordinate and cooperate.

“I’m getting messages from Trump not to jump in head first,” Netanyahu told Bennett.

Bennett told Netanyahu that he has been asking for a long time to convene a meeting about the policy Israel intends to take vis-à-vis the Trump administration on the Palestinian issue, but such a meeting has not taken place. In response, Netanyahu told Bennett the matter would be discussed Sunday afternoon in a security cabinet meeting.
Senior figures in Likud and Habayit Hayehudi involved in advancing the bill said the legislation would be discussed by the Ministerial Committee for Legislation on Sunday, but no vote would be taken. A discussion of Israel’s policy vis-à-vis the Trump administration and the annexation of Ma’ale Adumim, they said, would be discussed immediately afterwards in the security cabinet meeting.

Senior Likud officials said they believed the bill would not move ahead at this time. However, senior Habayit Hayehudi officials said that if serious reasons are not given to postpone the bill, a vote would take place Sunday evening, as soon as the cabinet meeting ended, or Monday morning.

Ever since Trump won the elections, Bennett has been pressuring Netanyahu, both publicly and in private conversations, to repudiate his agreement to “a demilitarized Palestinian state alongside Israel,” which he stated in his speech at Bar-Ilan University in June 2009.

Bennett has said in closed conversations over the past two weeks that he had received messages from Trump’s advisers that the new administration is not bound by the two-state solution paradigm and is waiting to hear from Israel what its policy is on the Palestinian issue.

On Saturday night, Netanyahu posted a video to his Facebook page stating that one of the main issue he would be bringing up with Trump in their first meeting was the Iranian threat, and that he intended to talk to the new U.S. president “about ways to oppose the threat of the Iranian regime, which calls for the destruction of Israel.”

Bennett responded to Netanyahu’s video within one minute on Twitter: “Iran is an important issue but preventing another Iran in the heart of Judea and Samaria is no less important.” Bennett wrote that “a historic opportunity must not be missed to prevent Palestine on Highway 6 on the pretext of the Iranian threat,” referring to a major toll road bordering the West Bank.

In a further tweet, Bennett wrote that Trump’s entry to the White House was a new era. “For the first time in 50 years, the prime minister can decide: either sovereignty or Palestine. The continuation of the Bar-Ilan/Palestine line will be a disaster for generations to come. We will work toward sovereignty.”

Senior figures in Habayit Hayehudi said that Bennett believes the coming days, until Netanyahu’s meeting with Trump, are critical, and he intends to use all the political tools at his disposal to lead Netanyahu to take back his Bar-Ilan stand on a two-state solution.

“Trump will not pass us on the right,” a senior figure in Habayit Hayehudi said, adding: “Trump will also be ready for alternatives to the two-state solution and he is leaving it at Netanyahu’s doorstep. Thus opportunity must not be missed. Unfortunately, Netanyahu, who is so used to the defensive approach, runs straight to the Iranian nuclear threat to avoid major decisions.”

The bill to annex Ma’aleh Adumim seeks to apply Israeli law to the settlement, located about 7 kilometers east of Jerusalem, including the controversial area E-1, which was added to Ma’aleh Adumim’s municipal boundaries. The sponsor of the bill, MK Yoav Kish (Likud) told Haaretz that he is willing to compromise and leave E-1 out of the bill. “I don’t want anyone to say that because sovereignty was applied to E-1 as well, he doesn’t want to join the process.”

E-1 is an area of 12 square kilometers that extends north and west of Ma’aleh Adumim.

Construction in area E1, according to international critics, will cut the northern and southern West Bank from each other.

Kish added: “80 percent of the public supports applying sovereignty to Ma’aleh Adumim. At this point we will leave it to the committee discussing the bill in the Knesset to determine the boundaries of sovereignty. Authority might eventually be given to the interior minister. We don’t specifically mention E1 in the bill, and that is intentional.”

  1. Please , someone explain to me why Jews are called,”Settlers?”I thought that they owned the land, fought defensive aggression etc., now my second part of the question, societies such as the Arabs, the United States, murdered humans, expropriated land through brutal force, yet Jews somehow have a negative disposition? I may be stupid, however, in my 50 years of existence, isn’t this called, pardo my expression,”Extreme hypocrisy?

  2. I have worked hard to help elect Mr. Trump, of course nowhere near enough to make that mean much in context.
It is not me that is sending wrenches into the new Administration gearbox. It is Netanyahu. He cannot allow that the Y & S Jews retain what is theirs.
Try to fit the following into the picture.
Netanyahu was, early in the game on his first government already allocating Karl Gustav’s machine guns to Arafat and abandoning Hebron while undermining the remaining Jewish enclave there. The Jews in Y & S concerted his ouster from government and he… wowed to return in due time.
This is not only my view, by far. What we all observe is his planned return… plan in full form.
Is the destruction of those that threw him out the first time part of that? I think so. That is a giant gorilla in Netanyahu’s game planning room and the ape is always humming the lei motif.
He is a very accomplished ……..in action. Against much of what we stand for.

  3. @ SHmuel HaLevi: Would you just give the new US administration a reasonable period of time to at least get oriented. What is the great rush. Brilliant, let’s piss off and embarrass Trump.
I do not think you have an alternative to Netanyahu right now, ya want the Lapid, because you are not going to get the Bennet. By all means, mount a campaign to oust Netanyahu. You won’t get to first base. Maybe you could find a willing partner in Livni. She is always prepared to blame Bibi, too. That’s a match.
Remember the criteria for a barely passing grade for Netanyahu was, after Obama is out, Is there a Palestinian State or one on the horizon? No, there is not. Netanyahu gets at a minimum, a D minus, barely passing. Not bad compared to many of the others.
Kissinger argued against US recognition of Israel when he was in college. Bet you anything Kissinger and George Soros get along, just fine.

  4. @ SHmuel HaLevi:
I agree. What is there to coordinate? With the exception of Nixon’s unsolicited emergency weapons airlift, over Kissinger’s opposition* during the Yom Kippur War — only needed, at that, because of Golda Meir’s overcautious and penny-pinching screw-up which left Israel vulnerable and unprepared in the face of intelligence reports she chose to disregard, warning of an imminent attack — when has the US ever saved Israel’s butt? Usually, the reverse, in fact. In both senses. All any friendly foreign leader needs to do is REFRAIN FROM THREATS! Period.

    * I can’t believe Kissinger of all people had the sheer chutzpah to demand gratitude later from Israel much like Obama claiming credit for Iron Dome (which benefits the U.S., as well) funding that had been passed over his veto! This schmuck who kept Israel dependent on US Hellfire missiles and then held up delivery when resupply was needed in a war! With “friends” like this …

  5. Not for a second I believe that President Trump is “pressuring” or asking for temporary waivers from the speechster. That “pressure” excuse is old tripe used by Netanyahu prolifically while he plans to destroy Jewish homes and villages. The administration official position is that only bilateral negotiations may do. That means two, not multiple negotiators. Useless as that may be.
    Now it is widely published.
I reported weeks ago that the Netanyahu lied to the Amona Jews and that no alternative building for the families about to be again expelled by the betrayer was being effected. The orator has done that w/o solution of continuity.
Netayuahu has accumulated enough evidence of his ill intent to assure that only his departure could start a healing process.
I expect Netanyahu readiness to perform more destruction and offer “gestures” while abandoning entrapping our soldiers.

  6. I believe that The US has asked Israel to hold back on annexation moves until it settles in and has a chance to discuss in detail The US ideas and concepts for it’s evolving positions, Israeli perspectives on it’s positions coordinating with Trump, insights etc.
. After not even one business day after the inauguration, there are those demanding annexation. Brilliant. Any pundit who proposes such has the brains of a Jack Rabbit or Hare. There will be potentially acts of terrorism with mass casualties and potentially a renewal of rockets from Gaza and more. Of course such a move would cause an avalanche on Trump, accusations he was behind this….etc etc. OF COURSE COOPERATE WITH TRUMP. So much tone deafness in the community.
Just be a little patient, give them until spring to sort things out. Otherwise uncoordinated unilateral moves by Israel is stupid beyond belief.
My guess is Trump is planning to lay down an ultimatum to Abbas and Hamas, a take it or leave it proposal. They are not going to like it. They are going to do as they always do when they do not see a pathway for Israel’s demise, they will incite violence. Their funding will be soon shut off and Israel given a green light.
Then, you can expect annexation in coordination with The US. Obviously…..

  7. Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria is Jewish territory – No is required
If anything it may need to be re-incorporated or re-patriated and sovereignty applied and treated like any other territory in Israel.
Let me pose an interesting scenario. If you had a country and it was conquered by foreign powers over a period of time. After many years you have taken back you country and land in various defensive wars. Do you have to officially annex those territories? It was always your territory and by retaking control and possession of your territory it is again your original property and there is no need to annex it. The title to your property is valid today as it was many years before.
Annexation only applies when you are taking over territory that was never yours to begin with, just like some European countries annexed territories of other countries.

Jews hold title to the Land of Greater Israel even if outnumbered a million to one.
The fact that more foreigners than Jews occupied the Land of Israel during certain periods of time does not diminish true ownership. If my house is invaded by a family ten times larger that mine does that obviate my true ownership?

Jewish roots and rights to all the land of Greater Israel are stronger than ever!
“If I am turned out of hearth and home and remain outside one night, I am legally entitled to return the following day. If I suffer for ten, twenty, five thousand or fifty thousand nights, does my right of return stand in inverse relationship to the length of my exile? Quite the contrary; my right to return and recover my freedom becomes stronger in direct proportion to what I have endured, not by virtue of some abstract arithmetic, but because of the nights spent in exile, and because I want my children, to be spared a similar experience.”

  8. The frequently voiced complaint that the state being offered to the Arab-Palestinians comprises only 22 percent of Palestine is obviously invalid. The truth is exactly the reverse. From the above history and international treaties, including the Faisal Weizmann Agreement of 1919, it is obvious that the territory on both sides of the Jordan was legally designated for the Jewish homeland by the 1920 San Remo Conference, mandated to Britain as trustee, confirmed by the 1920 Treaty of Sevres and Lausanne and implemented and endorsed by the League of Nations in 1922, confirmed by a resolution in the U.S. Congress in 1922, affirmed in the Anglo-American Convention on Palestine in 1925 and confirmed in 1945 by article 80 of the UN. Yet, approximately 80% of this territory was illegally excised from the territory in May 1923 when, in violation of the mandate and the San Remo resolution, Britain gave autonomy to Transjordan (now known as Jordan) under as-Sharif Abdullah bin al-Hussein. Further-more, as the San Remo resolution has never been abrogated, it was and continues to be legally binding between the several parties who signed it. It is therefore obvious that the legitimacy of Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and a Jewish state in Palestine all derive from the same international agreement at the 1920 San Remo Conference.

During WWII the British as trustee for the Jewish people in the Mandate for Palestine, violated the International treaty by restricting Jewish immigration and turned back Jewish refugee ships who were escaping from German extermination camps, thereby sending many Jews back to be exterminated. The British went as far as blowing-up Jewish refugee ships destined for Palestine-Israel under “Operation Embarrass”. The British are responsible for the death of millions of Jews.

In essence, when Israel entered and liberated the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) and Jerusalem in 1967 it did not occupy territory to which any other party had title. While Jerusalem and the West Bank, (Judea and Samaria), were illegally occupied by Jordan in 1948 they remained in effect part of the Jewish National Home that had been created at 1920 San Remo and confirmed by the 1920 Treaty of Sevres and Lausanne, thus, in the 1967 6-Day War Israel, in effect, recovered and liberated territory that legally belonged to Israel; The Land of Israel has been a Jewish territory for over 3,700 years and at times occupied by foreign powers; when you are liberating your own land and territory, no annexation is required.
To quote Judge Schwebel, a former President of the ICJ (International Court of Justice), “As between Israel, acting defensively in 1948 and 1967, on the one hand, and her Arab neighbors, acting aggressively, in 1948 and 1967, on the other, Israel has the better absolute title in the territory of what was Palestine, including the whole of Jerusalem. Any resolutions past by the U.N. are only a non-binding recommendation with no legal standing and cannot supersede international treaties and Agreements.

The Arabs received over 12 million sq. km. of territory after WWI with a wealth of oil reserves and they also have Jordan, which was Jewish territory. The Arabs persecuted and expelled over a million Jewish families who lived there for over 2,800 years, from their countries and confiscated all their assets, personal property, businesses, homes and Real estate property 6 times the size of Israel – over 120,000 sq. km. and valued in the trillions of dollars. Most of the expelled Jewish families from Arab countries were resettled in Israel and today comprise over half the population in Israel, these are the families and descendants of the million Jewish families forcefully expelled from Arab countries. Let the Arab-Palestinians relocate to those lands and solve the Arab Israel conflict and the Arab-Palestinian refugee problem one and for all.
    YJ Draiman

  9. Many nations and people are questioning Israel’s control of its liberated territory. No one is mentioning that the Arab countries had terrorized and expelled over a million Jewish families and their children from their countries (who lived there since the time of King Solomon), The Arabs/Muslims confiscated all their assets, personal property, businesses, homes and Jewish owned Real estate for over 2,400 years. About 750,000 of the expelled Jewish families and their children of these expelled Jewish families were resettled in The Land of Israel. The Land the Arab countries confiscated from the Jewish people is over 120,000 sq. km. or 46,332 sq. miles, which is over 6 times the size of Israel, and its value today is the trillions of dollars and those expelled Jewish families and their descendants comprise over half the population of Israel.

    P.S.
There was never an Arab-Palestinian State in The Land of Israel and there will never be – face it., once and for all
The Ottoman land records of Palestine confirm that the Arabs did not own land, they were sharecroppers. Over 90% of the land was owned by the government the balance was owned by absentee wealthy Arabs from Lebanon who sold it to the Jews at premium prices.
It is time to implement population transfer for all the Arabs, especially for those who create violence, riot and attack Jews and anyone else. They could be relocated to the homes and the 120,000 sq. km. of Real Estate and land owned by the million Jewish families, expelled from Arab countries or Jordan.
    YJ Draiman.

Tell the White House official to return occupied Texas and other states to Mexico and the rest of the United States to the Indians.
The Jews have a history with Israel going over 4,000 years. The Americans have only a few hundred years of occupation and deliberate destruction of the Indians. This applied to the European countries and Canada plus others.
    YJ Draiman.

The Arabs have already an Arab Palestinian state which is on Jewish land over three times the size of Israel, east of the Jordan River; it is called Jordan where 80% of the populations are Arab Palestinians and the Arabs in Judea and Samaria have a Jordanian passport. The Arabs received after WWI over 12 million sq. km. – 5 million sq. mi. with a wealth of oil reserves. They want the Jews out.
Oslo accords are null and void. Israel must dismantle the Arab PA and include Judea and Samaria as a continuous part of Israel. Transfer Arab population to Jordan, Gaza and to the homes and the 120,000 sq. km. the Arab countries confiscated from the Million Jewish families they expelled who now reside in Israel.
The Arab PA promotes and educates its children and the masses to hate, commit terror and violence. Every concession and compromise has increased terror and violence. It is time to stop the delusion of peace with the Arabs. The local Arabs in Greater Israel have one goal, and that is to take over all of Israel and get rid of the Jews; nothing else would satisfy them. The local Arabs seem to love being abused, persecuted and manipulated by their corrupt leaders, and blindly follow their deceptive and destructive propaganda.

Israel needs to build at least 100,000 housing units per year in Judea and Samaria for the next 10 years; Israel also needs to build 3 superhighway connecting Judea and Samaria to Israel with improved security and cameras.
Construct military bases in Judea and Samaria to protect the people and the country.
Israel also needs to build 50,000 housing units per year in greater Jerusalem and build additional roads and highway in and from Jerusalem. Promote high tech industry and develop Atarot Airport in the outskirts of Jerusalem for more airline connections.
Israel must also build a minimum of 15,000 housing units in the Galil and 15,000 housing units in the Negev every year for at least the next ten years and expand the infrastructure, roads and highways. They have to expand industry and commerce, provide incentives to enhance the desire of people to live in the Galil and the Negev.
Construct military bases and local agencies in Judea and Samaria to protect and help the people and the country.

  10. Netanyahu promises unrestricted construction in East Jerusalem
Prime minister tells ministers he will remove all obstacles to building in capital, will soon announce extensive construction in settlement blocs

“I support Israeli sovereignty over Ma’ale Adumim,” the prime minister is quoted as saying. “There is no question about Ma’ale Adumim, and in any future accord it will be under Israeli sovereignty. But right now, ……….

    http://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-promises-unrestricted-construction-in-east-jerusalem/

east Jerusalem already annexed, major blocks no question including MA.

a judenraat caretaker of the Jews in their designated ghetto boundaries… doling out tidbits as the masters allow.

LOL, all his announcements keep the Jews in the ghetto, even when he makes big flourish announcements to build it is still in the ghetto where the euros say Jews must live.

Notice only east jerusalem and within the major blocks… pretending to give the Jews something they supposedly already have….. Notice no new settlements OUTSIDE the major settlement blocks…. OUTSIDE the euro obama designated ghetto boundaries of the major blocks…… we again see the same MO every step… the same MO which cannot utter these words:
“JEWISH SETTLEMENT IS LEGAL AND LEGITIMATE IN YS”
the danger he seeks to avoid is the demand of jews to settle outside the ghetto of which he is the caretaker… hence those words cannot be uttered by one who will never settle jews outside the ghetto.

Next time when BB panics Bennetts voters to him with the ludicrous narrative that if they vote for bennet instead of him labor will get in… he never geared his panic statements to labor voters… he sought to diffuse right wing by moving them to the guy that never does anything for the right wing. I see little difference between the left and BB both only want the major blocks at best….. there is no vote for the vacant lands of C to the left of Bennett and BY as likud is just a rubber stamp of BB.

  12. Bottom line:
There is no excuse that Netanyahu will not use to sabotage Jewish National interests.
It is always “la presion”… The free brandy and cigars fin BEGS for “pressure”.
He will not allow any construction anywhere in Y & S except for the Muslims. He is false to the core.
If he says that he will build. Make sure to demand evidence from independent experts.
Does anyone believe that the plotter that was caught negotiating on his own behalf with Mozes has done that only once?

  13. Is Netanyahu making excuses?
Israeli official says Trump administration not pressuring Netanyahu on Ma’ale Adumim sovereignty.

According to the official, Trump’s officials said Israel can do whatever it wants, and should work as fast as possible so as not to miss any opportunities.

The same official also said, “There is no pressure and we are not involved in the matter right now.”

    http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/223637

I thought the regulation bill which he delayed was for all of area C… is it my imagination or is BB seeking to annex MA in order to NOT annex, or extend Israeli law, to all of C?

Also, is he trying to make Iran the main issue in order to deflect Israeli attention away from YS? If this is his main issue why did he never have a plan for the failure of his charts and red lines that took all attention for years?

I see a guy who has been doing everything to keep Jews out of the vacant lands of C, to make sure no new settlements are built, to keep Israelis attention from his obstruction of New jewish settlement in C,…. everything, including Duma and the MOunt was to keep Jews from seeking their rights and make the rest of Israel divorce from settlers and nationalists. Duma and the soldiers incarceration was along the same lines of demonizing settlers, nationalists,… Is BB’s whole MO simply to be a mole for the left and foreign interests, diffusing and nuetralizing all political forces and will of zionists, nationalists……. acting as a representative of zionists and nationalists and yet always doing the opposite surreptitiously like facilitating for 8 years illegal euro building of muslim homes in C and E1… pretending that the famed mossad and shin bet did not inform him daily of their works? Israelis have not internalized the fact that BB secretly facilitated the euros, he deceived Israelis on that issue… there is no way he was not completely aware over the 8 year period

  14. Netanyahu: We will continue to take care of Judea and Samaria
    http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/223645

    the great caretaker
BB wants to maintain focus on MA which everyone knows will be annexed….Bennet never speaks of less than at least area C with NO granting of a state in AB
All of BB’s actions are geared towards reducing the aspirations of Jews for YS. Israelis used to talk of new settlements outside the euro designated ghetto boundaries of the major blocks.. it was BB who focused attention away to that which was in side the designated narrative of ONLY the major blocks. Now under pressure he talks about possiblities of annexing MA, a red herring… just a small moving of the ghetto walls.
BB’s entire reign was to be a judenraat caretaker of the Jews in their designated ghetto boundaries… doling out tidbits as the masters allow. I think he is a fake, a fraud, another mole of foreign interests. It is absurd to even consider giving all those vacant lands of C to the muslims to build their homes but BB has been facilitating the illegal euro building of muslim homes in YS…. they are the ones getting the new settlements in C. nothing to see here yidden, move along.

  15. @ Sebastien Zorn:

No the PM is not elected by the popular vote, (it was tried for 2 elections and it was a dismal failure. Netanyahu was the first but most of the govt was Labour so it broke apart….Barak was the second and it just fizzled out) at least that’s what I see. He is usually of the party which got the most seats, but not always. a couple of elections ago, Livni had the largest party (I think by 2 seats) but couldn’t get a coalition large enough to make a government, so Peres called on Netanyahu, who had better “contacts” or maybe a better wheeler-dealer, so although not the leader of the largest party, he became PM.

    The voting system stinks…. BIG.

In Ireland they use a type of Proportional Representation, I think the best system. The country and large cities are divided into areas, with a candidate from each party. You vote for your party member, and if he reaches enough to guarantee his seat, his surplus goes to the next choice of the voter. This way no votes are wasted and everyone can make use of the franchise..

  16. Jared Kushner, Trump’s Israel guy just got legal approval to work in the White House. It would be counterproductive for Israel to take unilateral actions before he has a chance to get involved as Israel’s friend. One does not want to polarize one’s powerful and generous allies before one knows their intentions.

  17. @ Edgar G.:So, is the PM elected by popular vote? Also, if Trump sent this signal to wait until early Feb. Wait for what? Why does he need to be part of the decision? Does this have to do with his meeting with Putin first? What does he think he can negotiate? Putin can’t pressure Abbas to give up the phased plan. In fact, fear does more than all the negotiation in the world. They always make un-solicited unilateral concessions when we become intransigent, surprise and terrify them. Did you see the article about PA police rescuing Israelis from a mob when they wandered into Area A or B by mistake? When’s the last time you saw that? Remember the bloody hands? Iran suspended it’s nukes, Quadaffy gave up his WMDs and began cooperating, and Bin Laden suspended his planned post 9/11 attacks because they were taken aback by our ferocious response. Bush wasn’t wrong to go to war. He was wrong to make concessions to the pals, the afghans, the iraqis. Loved his first term. That’ s why I voted for him the second time. But, he fired Cheney, Wolfowitz, Ashcroft, etc. Why did he cave to the liberals after being re-elected by a landslide? So tired of this.

  18. @ Sebastien Zorn:
    xxx

I believe that this sentence you query has something to do with the law that had been brought in just for an election or two- at most- changing the way the PM was normally chosen which was then like it is now.

Some brainiac postulated that the PM shouldbe elected by the people directly, not just because he was the leader of the largest party and could forge a govt. It may have had something to do with the previous PM or two who were less than scintillating, not sure. He could even have been a very popular public man from completely outside politics the way it was interpreted…..??

Anyway, they found it didn’t work because the parties were or could be antagonistic to the PM unless they had a close political relationship with him as during the give and take of forming a coalition govt. So the got rid of it as you see.

I could be wrong, but think I’m right because I recall the period without remembering the exact reasons etc.etc.

  19. It pains me to say, but Bennett lost me when he joined forces with the Left in an attempt to shut down Israel Hayom.
He’s no less slimey than the rest of them.

  20. http://www.jpost.com/Israel-News/Politics-And-Diplomacy/Netanyahu-called-for-term-limits-19-years-ago-459120

    http://www.timesofisrael.com/poll-shows-yesh-atid-ousting-likud-from-power-if-elections-today/

According to this article from earlier in the year, Bennett supports term limits but only if it applies to the next Prime Minister. According to this article, My question, why is Lapid, who is an appeaser, the favorite to win if the election were held tomorrow? I read an article somewhere that said that Lapid follows his american dem advisers advice and only focuses on one or two bread and butter issues and another one that said that because there is no direct accountability at the ballot box, voters are more sensitive to international pressure, because they can only vote for parties not individuals. . I am confused by this sentence:

“The Direct Election Law, which allowed the public to choose a prime minister on a separate ballot from their Knesset vote, was repealed in 2001.”

What does that mean, exactly, and does it bear on this?
And yet, most Israelis oppose the TSS and further concessions.
I find the polling and voting patterns of the Israeli public confusing.

  21. It’s beyond the time to quit talking and do something about it…..this is why Trump won. Evangelicals and conservatives in the US are sick and tired of electing politicians to fight for us, and they roll over and play dead. If BB is rolling over and playing dead like RINO politicians in the US, then get rid of him and put someone in office who will act in your interests. His days are over, you need a leader. The world has come out and drawn the line in the sand….and started the inexorable domino effect which will divide your country. It’s beyond time to elect a leader who will uphold the promises and name of Hashem to His people.

  22. its the jews who squander their opportunities, I see no Jews left of Bennet demanding YS…. thats pathetic.

  23. Sam Said:

There is a faint stench of BS here

    its not so faint anymore
I am afraid that BB will repeat in private what he begged for in public… he begged Trump to pursue the TSS… I am afraid that BB will destroy Trumps support of the Jews in YS… His role is always to obstruct Jewish settlement, Jews on the Mount, Jews in the holy places, Jews killing terrorists, Jews destroying gaza…. he holds the status quo, making sure that Jews do not build outside the euro obama designated ghetto boundaries of the major blocks…. so who does he really represent?
BB does NOTHING for Jews or Israel.
BB will seek to convince trump that waiting and doing nothing is a better strategy… he will succeed because Trump will just give these crazy Jews, and their elected leader, what they want. Trump will see the Jews as weird. After all their noise they dont want more than what obama and the muslims was going to give them.

  24. like I have been saying from day one…. trump is not the problem… Netanyahu and the GOi are the problem. I also predicted that BB would use the same technique as before… blaming all his non movement on the foreigners and US. its possible that trump wants to wait but I expect that BB will try to convince trump to pretend to pressure BB because BB has an agenda with the GCC for a Nobel. The big clue remains the same:
BB has NEVER said these simple words:
“JEWISH SETTLEMENT IN YS IS LEGAL AND LEGITIMATE”
The reason he has NEVER said those words is because if he said those words people would then ask why he does not settle Jews in YS outside the euro obama designated ghetto boundaries of the major blocks. By saying always that he is under pressure he “fights” for a few units in Jerusalem and the major blocks.
I said that I wondered what excuse he will use now for trump, i said that if he uses the same excuse again then he is a fraud… I give him to his trump meeting but notice that the meeting should not prevent him from declaring that settling jews is not illegal or illegitimate… bb would have us beleive that even the words are verboten to say by the foreigners. I am curious as to what excuse all the BB apologists will come up with now.

Bennet has remained consistent and transparent for annexation throughout… I dont see why anyone who believes in YS belonging to the Jews would vote left of Bennet and BY.

  25. There is a faint stench of BS here…not sure who it is from. The bottom line is to annex sooner rather than later, and to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem, pronto.
