How not to test a plane

THE TALE OF THE ARAB FLIGHT CREW
Written by To The Point News

plane.jpgThe brand spanking new Airbus 340-600, the largest passenger airplane ever built, sat in its hangar in Toulouse, France without a single hour of airtime. Enter the Arab flight crew of Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) on November 15, 2007 to conduct pre-delivery tests on the ground, such as engine run-ups, prior to delivery to Etihad Airways in Abu Dhabi.

The ADAT crew taxied the A340-600 to the run-up area. Then they took all four engines to takeoff power with a virtually empty aircraft. Not having read the run-up manuals, they had no clue just how light an empty A340-600 really is.

The takeoff warning horn was blaring away in the cockpit because they had all 4 engines at full power. The aircraft computers thought they were trying to takeoff but it had not been configured properly (flaps/slats, etc.) Then one of the ADAT crew decided to pull the circuit breaker on the Ground Proximity Sensor to silence the alarm.

This fools the aircraft into thinking it is in the air.

The computers automatically released all the brakes and set the aircraft rocketing forward. The ADAT crew had no idea that this is a safety feature so that pilots can’t land with the brakes on.

Not one member of the seven-man Arab crew was smart enough to throttle back the engines from their max power setting, so the $200 million brand-new aircraft crashed into a blast barrier, totaling it.

The extent of injuries to the crew is unknown, for there has been a news blackout in the major media in France and elsewhere. Coverage of the story was deemed insulting to Moslem Arabs. Finally, the photos are starting to leak out.

  1. Max:

The Law of the Few: Judaism= community which includes some excludes most, its particularism is its strength not its weakness. The opposite of Universalism is Community. The providing of the few with the most rather than providing the many with the least.

The Magic Number 150 (Dunbar’s number): The research behind the number suggests an individual can only have genuine social relationships with 150 people. Likewise, groups larger than 150 are prone to fragmentation, and it is often best for the group’s health that it split. Most extant hunter-gatherer villages, as well as military companies also stay just shy of this number.

Dunbar’s number, which is 150, represents a theoretical maximum number of individuals with whom a set of people can maintain a social relationship, the kind of relationship that goes with knowing who each person is and how each person relates socially to every other person.[1] Group sizes larger than this generally require more restricted rules, laws, and enforced policies and regulations to maintain a stable cohesion. Dunbar’s number is a significant value in sociology and anthropology. Proposed by British anthropologist Robin Dunbar, it indicates the “cognitive limit to the number of individuals with whom any one person can maintain stable relationships”. Dunbar theorizes that “this limit is a direct function of relative neocortex size, and that this in turn limits group size … the limit imposed by neocortical processing capacity is simply on the number of individuals with whom a stable inter-personal relationship can be maintained.”

Primatologists have noted that, due to their highly social nature, non-human primates have to maintain personal contact with the other members of their social group, usually through grooming. Such social groups function as protective cliques within the physical groups in which the primates live. The number of social group members a primate can track appears to be limited by the volume of the neocortex region of their brain. This suggests that there is a species-specific index of the social group size, computable from the species’ mean neocortex volume.

In a 1992 article, Dunbar used the correlation observed for non-human primates to predict a social group size for humans. Using a regression equation on data for 38 primate genera, Dunbar predicted a human “mean group size” of 147.8 (casually represented as 150), a result he considered exploratory due to the large error measure (a 95% confidence interval of 100 to 230).

All of the Above is counter intuitively part of Judaism and Torah: Small, tribal, particular and sectarian are not only very Human but a necessary ingredient in elevating social man to his highest potential. It therefore is not a weakness but our strength.

  2. Yes, it has all the earmarks of a Mossad operation. One of the test crew was a Mossad agent.
    heh

    200 million …ouch!

It really sounds like the designers were too smart for their own good. Operation of anything complex should always be idiot proof. It actually sounds like it was a disaster waiting to happen. Good thing it happened on the ground with no passengers.
So it didn’t pass the idiot test.
    A successful safeguard that crew.

  3. This is a general problem of human identity manipulation.

This applies to all: Jewish , Arab. Canadian, Chinese, Islamic etc.
It involves the processes of BIRGing and CORFIng both of which are mass delusional identity mechanism. It also involves the problem of the individual not being able to separate their ego identity from social process. They are not able to dis-identify I.E. say This is NOT I as well as say some of this is “I”.

It adds up to the use of identification to falsely empower the self. This means the individual lacks their own core or inner self and has developed a dependency on outside process

My golden rule or measure for constructiveness or destructiveness is if cultural, patriotic and ethnic identifications are benign in that they are celebratory or supportive of others or harmful in that they are others must be repressed or aggressed against in order for the ego identification to be sustained.

Thus from large to small, many tragedies occur and the human race suffers because small minded people of power simply cannot or will not make a inner growth oriented change.
    ..
As far as I can see this theory of understanding social identity and it’s effects is not very well developed by anyone. It is an open fertile ground.

Not investigated or analyzed , yet these processes are used in Both the Islamic and Chinese Communist worlds to enslave the masses and even in the West these processes are used to prevent the people from achieving challenge and confrontation in examining the systems under which they live and changing them for the better.

To understand these things people must challenge and confront those things that apparently make them feel good.
It should be no problem, right? If something makes a person feel good, then shouldn’t investigating it be a pleasure.
Sadly, that is not the case. to those who are emotionally dependent on social illusions investigation is a threat.

  4. Shy Guy: I was not just referring to ynet article there are others of course I can supply a list. it was reported by some as low flying with two trails very fast and making sounds like a missile buy more than one witness. I already accepted Meteor as probable explanation. I didn’t see it and what brought it to my attention as I missed the news item at the time was the conviction of Rav Lazer Brody , that it was a Iranian missile and as an ex hero of Saeret Matcal I know he has connections.

  5. Coverage of the story was deemed insulting to Moslem Arabs.

The west ought to start giving major coverage to every story which is deemed offensive to muslim Arabs. Let them get used to being publicly humiliated and stop pandering to their fucking bizarre “honor” and shame culture. There is nothing honorable about the muslim culture anyway.

  6. Numerous? The article lists less than a handful. Did someone do a census taking? Is the Kfara Saba resident an expert on both missile and meteor sounds or just missile sounds? How many people flooded Ynet’s phonelines who heard the sound of a missile but didn’t see it? I can tell you the answer: zero.

People in the Negev saw it, too, not just the center and the north.

  7. Shy I will accept your take on this but there were numerous eye witnesses who think otherwise. Since I didn’t see it myself I will go with my gut and say it probably was a meteor, I hope so anyway!

  8. Stop with this nonsense, Yamit. My kids saw the meteor last month. Just a slighlty longer rendition of the disappearing “shooting stars” that are common.

  9. Speaking of tests , I have on good authority that the meteor seen over Israel last month was really an Iranian missile test.If true we failed to detect and down it!!! This should be an early warning from above……

    Meteor seen passing over Israel????

Citizens residing in north, central Israel report seeing object travel from east to west at great speed; some say it made shrieking sound ‘like a missile’

A meteor was seen passing over Israel Tuesday night in many parts of the country. Ynet was flooded with calls from citizens residing in central Israel, the Sharon region, Jerusalem and the Krayot cities who reported seeing the object crossing the sky at approximately 8:15 pm. Some witnesses said they heard a shrieking sound.

Eyewitness Ranik Kortzman said, “I was in my balcony when I suddenly saw an object with two trails passing over Kfar Saba from east to

west. It was travelling at great velocity and made a shrieking sound – like a missile.”

Ram Raphaeli of Kfar Yedidya in the Sharon told Ynet “we were on the roof when my son turned my attention to a tiny object that was passing above us. It appeared to be a meteor with a trail. It was traveling horizontally at a relatively low altitude. We didn’t hear any noise, but it flew by at great speed.”

Yigal Pat-El, chairman of the Israeli Astronomical Association and the director of the observatory in Giv’atayim told Ynet that “meteors enter the earth’s atmosphere all the time. This is not a rare occurrence.

“The reason we were able to observe this meteor is because it was relatively large. Most meteors don’t weigh more than 1/1000 gram, and this one apparently weighed a few grams

  10. These guys should be hired for testing all planes in th Arab World, Are Arabs stupid or what? Or was airbus looking for just more add on business?

  11. Everybody makes mistakes, in tis case the responsibility is the management in assigning an untrained testing crew.
    A serious executive error.

This story is only remote human interest except for the punchline of media blackout.
    ..
This is a general problem of human identity manipulation. What concerns me is the low level of awareness of how this works and the lack of education by any government anywhere on how people can free themselves from being manipulated by being indoctrinated by false ideas about their social identity.
The reason is that all governments everywhere want to use social identity to empower themselves and consider it anathema to teach people to empower themselves without external identification.
In fact I can hardly find any concern about this anywhere, it seems an idea that just goes into a blank spot, a missing paradigm in the collective consciousness.
    ..

  12. About the photos leaking now, I seem to recall that photo from around the time it occurred.

Ted, maybe your ISP back home in Canada is too French? 🙂
