Israel continues to kiss-up

By Ted Belman

Israel announced construction in Gilo two weeks ago and Merkel got angry. So rather than say to Merkel “its none of your business”, Lieberman sends Ayalon to Germany to explain in order to reduce tensions.

Israel insists on no preconditions to negotiations and Abbas demands a construction freeze. A new Columbian mediator asked Netanyahu for a symbolic gesture. So Netanyahu offers, according to Haaretz, the following,

He agreed to freeze construction by the government and to halt building on government land. But he said he would not agree to freeze construction by private developers on privately-owned land in the settlements. Only a small portion of construction in the settlements is carried out or funded by the government, however. Most is performed by private parties.

Abbas has yet to respond.

Netanyahu continues to be soft when he should be tough.

  1. “A new Columbian mediator asked Netanyahu for a symbolic gesture.”

    And I know just the one that’s called for. . . .

  2. Just finished reading Saul Friedlander’s “The Persecution Of The Jews: Nazi Germany 1933-1939” At every turn when there was a chance to be defiant, the Jews refused to accept what was going on. This same phenomenon is taking place now.

  3. He agreed to freeze construction by the government and to halt building on government land.

Why does Israel constantly behave like a country that has been defeated by Islam, the US and the EU?

  4. Israel’s policy of capitulation to Islamic terror is spilling over into other areas of Israeli life. Evil is not something that can be contained. Its effects are pervasive and destructive. The ancestors of the Jewish people understood this perfectly even when we moderns dismiss it. One must never tolerate evil – it would surely be the end of the commonwealth of the Jewish people.

  5. It is not the business of world leaders where Israel builds. Israel need not explain to Merkel or any other head of state its actions within its sovereign territory. Israeli leaders need to stop justifying themselves to the international community.
