Lawlessness in the Arab sector of Israel

Regavim

The heinous terror attack in Tel Aviv is an extreme example of the lawlessness that has been ignored for decades. For many years, Regavim has warned against the loss of sovereignty in the Arab sector. Where, more than 110,000 homes are built illegally; Where thousands of citizens evade municipal and income taxes; Where there are over 25,000 illegal weapons of all kinds; Where the rate of serious crime is tens of percentage points above their share of the general population; and where their elected officials’ day and night incite against the State of Israel – the terror attack was only a matter of time.

A timely but unfortunate example of the lack of law enforcement is the expanse of illegal construction in the town of Arara – where the terrorist who carried out the attack on Friday lived. Out of 4368 homes in Arara – 942 are illegally built. Barely 20%!!

However, as is always the case, it will be argued by “those in the know”, that Arabs only build illegally, because they do not have approved building plans …

So here are the facts: the approved municipal plan, in place for Arara, enables the construction of thousands of additional housing units lawfully, if they so chose – a fact that pulls the rug out from those that claim discrimination.

For decades, the State of Israel has been content to turn a blind eye to this severe phenomenon and take shortcuts in maintaining the rule of law – the results are now being paid by all citizens of the State of Israel, those in Tel Aviv, those in Jerusalem and including those members of the Arab sector who also wish to live in a law-abiding society.

  1. I can understand everything but not collecting taxes, states always collect taxes and ignore benefits to citizenry, why is it different in Israel? Collect those taxes!!! Enable tax ‘farmers’ among the Arabs to do the work.
