Obama Vowed to Renew Pressure on Israel after Iran Deal?

PA Prime Minister Hamdallah tells WaPo: ‘We count on the United States and are sure they will deliver.’

Palestinian Authority (PA) Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah broadly hinted in a Washington Post interview Monday that the US has promised the PA to renew pressure on Israel to negotiate the giveaway of its land, once the nuclear deal with Iran is signed.

Hamdallah sat down in his Ramallah office with The Post’s Lally Weymouth and told her: “We hope negotiations will be resumed, but within a new framework. We need a time limit for the Israeli withdrawal from our territories and a date for the establishment of the [Palestinian] state — the leadership in Palestine has put the date as the end of 2017.”

Hamdallah spoke approvingly of a French initiative for peace between Jews and Arabs, which he said was drafted in coordination with the United States, and which sets a time limit for Israeli retreat from Judea and Samaria. “This UN resolution can be issued which would set a time to end the occupation and establish a state along the ’67 borders,” he explained. “If this is issued, I’m sure we can go back to negotiations.

“Whether it is through the French initiative, or any other, we [want to] get a guarantee for a time limit for the Israeli withdrawal and the establishment of the state and a freeze of settlement activities.”

‘We need help’

Asked if he thinks the “Palestinian state can be imposed from the outside,” Hamdallah said no. “We need negotiations between us and the Israelis sponsored by the United States, by the UN, by the [European Union].

“We need outside intervention from the UN, from the superpowers, from the United States,” he added unabashedly. “Once there is a resolution, whether the UN asking for Israeli withdrawal and for the establishment of the state, this has to be guaranteed by the superpowers. Otherwise, it will be just a paper. We hope that the United States’ intervention can help us.”

“We have had certain assurances from the United States that after the Iranian deal, they will resume negotiations between us and the Israelis,” he said at a later point in the interview. “We count on the [United] States and are sure they will deliver.”

Weymouth asked: “Is your sense that the Obama administration might either not veto or might support the French resolution in the Security Council?”

Hamdallah replied: “What we hear is that there is coordination between the French and the [United] States.”

  1. Would YOU start to negotiate with an entity that starts with a Constitution saying

    Article 12
“Complete liberation of Palestine, and eradication of Zionist economic, political, military and cultural existence.”

    Article 19
“Armed struggle is a strategy and not a tactic, and the Palestinian Arab People’s armed revolution is a decisive factor in the liberation fight and in uprooting the Zionist existence, and this struggle will not cease unless the Zionist state is demolished and Palestine is completely liberated.”

If I were a self-hater with shit for brains, that is precisely what I would do. But given that I have high self-esteem accompanied by an intellect that is at least mediocre, I would obliterate Hamas and Fatah and then negotiate on a “My way or the cemetery” basis with the remaining Muslim residents of Judea and Samaria.

Of course, you must remember that I am a colonial apartheid Zionist pig.

  3. @ babushka:
This is a statement I totally agree with it. If they hate us anyway, why so much hesitation about doing what is necessary for having a lasting peace. Israel should annex
Judea, Samaria and Gaza and, let the fireworks begin. So hard trying to be liked has resulted in more division and hate. They think they deserve for their opinions to count.
Annex what is ours and watch them how in spite of their protests we will gain their respect. When you put your money where your mouth is people will respect you.
The Europeans can all console themselves by fighting one another out of existence.
Yesterday in New York a beautiful day and a great parade. In spite of the division created by the BDS Jews the parade was a success if you count the amount of people participating in the parade. The news reporters mention about 50,000 participants. From 35,000 a couple of years ago. At least by the numbers it appeared to be unity and
support for Israel. You can always count on the left to show unsmiling faces looking sour when compared to the
happy and smiling faces of the people participating and watching. I love Israel and Israelis.

  4. @ babushka: Not to worry because there is no organization or country on earth today, which can guarantee even for 30 days; any agreement between Israel and a paper mâché facade called the palixstinian authority. Especially with ISIS taking over the region. In other words, OBAMA has been hoisted by his own petard, HE HAS FALLEN INTO HIS OWN TRAP. I for one, hope he rots in it. I do believe he will. Every day his feathers show an emergent lame duck with long term serious problems. IMO OBAMA is the worst US President in history.
The good news is we have someone to counteract OBAMA sitting in The PM hot seat and he will follow through and do the right thing, I predict.

  5. Israelis must choose between sparing themselves from Obama’s malicious wrath or surviving. I pray it will be the latter, but fear it will be the former.

Hey, one of the best things about being Jewish is that people are going to hate you anyway, so just do what you want. Keep the land and brace for worldwide retaliation. It might not be pleasant, but it sure beats being dead.

  6. I’m not surprised the West wants Israel to pay the price for its Iranian appeasement deal.

Israel’s leaders need to buckle up. The bad news is coming at them hard and fast.
