Security Council Adopts Anti-settlement Resolution; U.S. Abstains

HAARETZ

U.S. didn’t veto the resolution because it reflects facts on the ground and is consistent with U.S. policy, Samantha Power says;

Trump: ‘Things will be different after Jan. 20.’

THIS RESOLUTION IS THE STRAW THAT WILL BREAK THE CAMELS BACK.

THE BIG LOSER WILL BE THE UN. THE US WILL DESTROY IT AND REPLACE IT.

ISRAEL WILL TRIUMPH.

  1. @ Birdalone:
Don’t know “Sully”. Must check it out. Love Eastwood. Loved “Defiance.” Read the book not long before the movie came out. True story. They never received recognition in their lifetime, even though two of the brothers survived the war and came here. A graduate student noticed them mentioned in a footnote to something he was reading for a PhD thesis. Like the article I just mentioned about Clark Clifford that the author found in a footnote. Clark Clifford persuaded Truman to reverse himself and recognize Israel instead of calling for UN Trusteeship. He persuaded the anti-semitic Truman that he needed the Jewish vote in several key states in the Presidential election later that year. How ironic, that the American Jewish community backed him, a large minority supporting Henry Wallace, but few supported Dewey who was running for the second time. Dewey, like all three Republican Presidential candidates who preceded him who lost to FDR, was an ardent Christian Zionist. They called for emergency rescue during the Holocaust. In the eleventh hour, FDR, facing defection from Treasury Secretary Morgenthau who threatened to expose him, belatedly authorized the creation of the the War Refugee Board in the last year of the war which launched Wallenberg and directly rescued and settled about a thousand Jews here among other things. Again, because it was an election year. The Republican party, for the second time in a row, had just called for recognition of Israel and facilitating Jewish settlement plus emergency rescue, working hand in hand with the Bergson Group, so tragically sabotaged by Stephen Weiss. I guess we just can’t rely on the liberal majority. We must just replace them in the halls of power where possible with whatever allies.
I saw an article about Ellison canceling his speech before a Muslim Brotherhood front. He’ s sorry about past anti-semitic ties. He didn’t know. Ha Ha. Like Obama with Reverend Wright. 20 years in that church. Arranged his marriage and baptised his daughters. But he didn’t know. He was out that day. for 20 years. Why do people accept apologies from people who know they can’t get elected or whatever that year unless they apologize? How can they be so gullible?

  2. @ Sebastien Zorn:
Thanks. One question I have is why so many American movies like Eastwood’s “Sully” never show in Israeli theatres.
I follow some films at boxofficemojo.com to see how and where they do well in other nations.

Really like “Defiance”, the Bielskis in Belarus WW2. Hollywood opinion did not. Too many pundits really do not like Jews who fight, even when it was the Nazis.

just checked the Sunday news line-ups & CNN is giving Fareed Zakaria 2 hours “Legacy of Obama” instead of regular shows.
no stomach for more fake history. Gingrich is on Fox w C Wallace

  3. Thanks. By the way, I stumbled on something that looks like it might be fun. Among the suggested videos with the autoplay turned off in Youtube is this full length movie. The plot looks like a fun way to get through this holiday.

    Twist of Fate (1989)

    https://youtu.be/O4itK3USShA

“An attempted assassination plot against Hitler sends one of his trusted SS officers into hiding as a Jew(thanks to plastic surgery and false papers)in a concentration camp. After the camp is liberated, he joins the Zionist army in their fight for Israel.”

    Here’s somebody’s user comment:

“My memory of the series is that after Helmut Von Schreader, now Ben Grossman undergoes plastic surgery to change his face and poses as a Jewish prisoner and then goes to Israel and becomes a hero of the army of the fight for freedom he marries a fellow fighter and they have a son. The boy becomes a journalist and he becomes interested in the prison camp that his father was in and the commandant of that camp, Helmut Von Schreader and does some research on him and of course there is a picture of him and of course the son looks just like him. His investigation into this terrible War Criminal, eventually uncovers the fact that Von Schreader and his father are one and the same. But the father dies and they decide to give the father the hero’s funeral and forget the terrible beginnings in view of his contributions to the State Of Israel. Is it possible to get a copy of Twist Of Fate?”

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098540/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ov_pl

Kind of an unlikely plot. And then again, come to think of it, are they trying to insinuate something? I hope not. I noticed with some amusement, that Paul Henreid usually got typecast as either a Nazi or an anti-Nazi resistance fighter. Remember, he plays Ingrid Bergman’s husband in “Casablanca.” There was one movie where he played a Nazi posing as an anti-Nazi posing as a Nazi or something who escapes from a concentration camp and makes his way to England as a refugee. Dizzying. Like a political
Victor/Victoria, He later went on to direct the Alfred Hitchcock Hour. Somehow, I’m not surprised.

Never liked “Casablanca.” I get no real sense of what they are fighting for. “This Land is Mine” directed by Jean Renoir and starring Charles Laughton and Maureen O’hara is one of my favorite pictures. The ending always makes me cry. Both released in 1942/3.

Also, the only one of this genre that mentions anti-semitism and even hints at the Holocaust. Came out in 1940. About a French town under German occupation where everybody becomes or reveals themselves to be the opposite of what they appear to be. Charles Laughton plays a timid schoolteacher who becomes a hero. And we watch the process. Believable. Inspiring film.

  4. @ Sebastien Zorn:

Schumer’s total NY and NYC vote surpluses over HRC probably mostly reflect Democratic Jewish voters. Since I no longer have access to votes by precinct or mapping software, I got the vote totals from the link below. Schumer’s big edge over HRC came from Westchester & Rockland & Nassau Counties, so my guess is mostly Jewish voters.

However, Schumer is Senator Pothole – really good constituent services. Wikileaks exposed Podesta’s plot to ‘reform’ the Catholic Church, and DJT benefited from that. Probable that Schumer’s win against HRC also was from a lot of Catholic Dems satisfied with him, but not HRC.

DJT narrowly beat HRC outside of NYC. If the election had been about the popular vote, who knows, maybe he could have won NYS. Except, voter intimidation in NYC does keep a lot of NOT-liberals at home.

In 2006, Spitzer for Governor beat HRC for re-election to the Senate by >500,000 votes. In 2006, I was still a loyal Dem voter in NY, but I protest voted useless HRC by voting Green Party. Glad to see I was not alone in 2006. It had nothing to do with Spitzer being Jewish, or about Israel.

Here is the link for vote totals and maps. I did so much demographic mapping of NY 2003-06 that I know which tribe lives where!

Hope this helps. I pulled the data to show elsewhere that Schumer should have been the DNC’s presidential nominee, if only the popular vote counts!

  5. @ Bear Klein:
Thank you. I googled it and found that Biden was instrumental in the coup. This article from before the election disengenuously says that before Ukraine was run by corrupt oligarchs so Biden brought in a good oligarch. Serious. Read it. The legitimate Ukrainian President was forced to flee the country because the EU didn’t like the fact that he got a better deal from Russia so Biden helped them overthrow the government. Shameless! Says this openly! And of course we remember Obama’s interference in Israeli elections. And spying on diplomats’ cell phones. What’s this about Hacking or something? Violating our sovereignty? Hypocritical, disengenuous bull.
Says they are upgrading their platform so free to read their articles this weekend only.

“…Biden’s connection with the Ukrainians began shortly after the ouster of former President Viktor Yanukovych in February 2014. After Yanukovych failed to sign a long-awaited trade association agreement with the European Union, and instead accepted an offer of $15 billion in government bond purchases and discounted gas from the Kremlin, massive protests erupted in Kiev. After months of protests and deadly clashes between protesters and police, Yanukovych fled the capital on Feb. 22, 2014, making his way to Russia, where he lives today.

Washington’s immediate problem was to ensure a new government in Kiev was credible enough to handle the difficult political transition and salvage the country’s tanking economy. But Ukraine’s political culture had become dysfunctional and its institutions hollowed out, with the country run by a partnership between politicians and oligarchs.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk — a former foreign minister, economy minister, and presidential candidate — emerged from the fray and won Western support, becoming prime minister after the Maidan revolution. Petro Poroshenko, a billionaire politician who had served in several cabinet posts over the previous decade and made his money in the confectionary business, also emerged on the post-Maidan political scene as a key player. Poroshenko would be elected president on May 25, 2014.

Biden developed a personal bond with the governing duo and would go on to champion various reforms in Ukraine. He helped the fledgling government gain a $17.5 billion International Monetary Fund package, supported the overhaul of the country’s inefficient and corrupt gas sector, assisted in a high-profile move to reform Ukraine’s notoriously dishonest police force, and pushed for the creation of an independent anti-corruption bureau to combat graft. The vice president’s attention to Kiev’s precarious situation was also backed up by Victoria Nuland, the assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs, who worked closely with Ukraine’s new cabinet of pro-Western technocrats, and by Commerce Secretary Penny Pritzker, who helped push market reforms…”

Did Soros orchestrate those protests? I’d like to know more about that. Any undercover videos, perhaps?

“Arseniy Yatsenyuk — a former foreign minister, economy minister, and presidential candidate — emerged from the fray and won Western support…”
Western meaning Globalist. Not popular support. Like they care about that. They were so sure of winning they didn’t think they had to bother hiding this.

Has Biden broken any laws? Has Soros? Shouldn’t there be an investigation? I wonder if they are paying more for gas now in Ukraine, in Crimea!

Oh, I see they are happy to be paying more. “They” are happy. I guess “they” did a survey. How much more? Oh, not much but “they” are not telling.

Were there Globalists in the ’60s? Sure makes this show make a lot more sensej if there were. Or is it just another case of probably unintentional prophecy through the medium of Science Fiction?

    Great theme.

he had already instructed officials to cut off “30 million shekels ($7.8 million) of funding for five UN bodies that are particularly hostile to Israel.” More such action will follow, he promised.

    xxx

If as is obvious Netanyahu had known that these 5 groups were very hostile to Israel, how had he the chutzpah and downright stupidity to have been funding them to the tune of multiple millions. Why did he ever give them a single cent.

Netanyahu is being shown up more and more, as more of a politician than a patriot, and we need both in the PM. Let him go, we need anothe, better for Israel PM.

  7. Joe Biden personally called the Ukraine to get them to vote for this resolution. So Obama and company are trying to hide and dim their anti-Semitic and anti Israel action. Did not have the balls to actually vote yes and tried to hide by abstaining.

  8. Every decent Jew in the United States should call their congressman on Monday and tell them to vote for cutting off funding to the U.N. And the PLO.

  9. @ Ted Belman:

    Mike Oren said:

Regarding his own reaction to the UN’s resolution, Oren said, “I feel great sadness when I think about the UN Security Council’s decision. I also see it as a severe and grave decision. This is a decision which defines half a million Israeli citizens as international criminals and the Western Wall as occupied territory. It opens the door to sanctions against Israel. As a nation and as a country, we need to stand united against this decision, BDS, and de-legitimization of all types.

“This decision ignores the Palestinian leaders’ refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state, and it ignores their refusal to sit with us at the negotiating table. This is a one-sided decision, which might even be called racist against Jews,” Oren said.

When asked if he believed the US had taken an active role in ensuring the resolution would pass, Oren said, “I find it hard to believe otherwise. From my sources – and they are senior officials – that is exactly what happened. But even more, I know from about 40 years of experience in the field these processes don’t happen on their own. They happen when someone puts focused energy into bringing countries to vote. It’s difficult, if not impossible, to believe this happened without the aid of the US government.”

  10. Bennett: Apply Israeli law in Judea and Samaria

Education Minister says terrorists view UN resolution as approval of terror attacks.

“We’re about to go from retreat to sovereignty. Thousands of terrorists the world over are looking at the UN’s decision. They see it as a call to arms. This decision is a direct result of Oslo’s policy of surrender, retreat, and divisions. It’s a result of public agreement to create a Palestinian state in our country’s heartland. This resolution will be thrown into history’s garbage can, just like its predecessors,” Bennett said.

“We have not gained honor and love by retreating, but shame and international pressure to surrender even more. This is the time to make a 180 degree turn. It’s time to go from retreat to sovereignty,” he emphasized.

“The conclusion needs to be that we will no longer agree to suicide through creating a Palestinian state, and we will work to apply Israeli law in Ma’ale Adumim, in the Jordan Valley, in Ofra, and in all of Area C as soon as possible.”

Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely (Likud), who is currently on an official visit to Georgia, said, “The Obama administration will not be able to cover up its failure in Aleppo with its shameful decision regarding Israel. He who was unsuccessful in his fight against darker regimes, is now attempting to harm his only democratic ally in the Middle East.

“History shows there are events which create drastic changes in Israel’s response. History will remember the UN Security Council’s Resolution 2334 as the one which brought about Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. No decision will cause Israel to stop building on its own land,” Hotovely concluded.

  11. Ted Belman Said:

It is time for unilateral action. Israel and the US should decide what to do in Keeping with the GOP platform which was unanimously passed. THEN DO IT.

Our response must wait for Jan 20 as there is still time for a Ch 7 resolution to be passed.

Netanyahu doesn’t want Ukranian PM in Israel

Netanyahu cancels Ukrainian PM’s vsit to Israel over Security Council vote.

Netanyahu on Saturday accused President Barack Obama of breaching a specific commitment to Israel by allowing Friday’s UN Security Council anti-settlements resolution to pass, and compared the outgoing president’s behavior to that of his predecessor Jimmy Carter

Netanyahu also announced that Israel was re-evaluating all of its dealings with the United Nations, and said he had already instructed officials to cut off “30 million shekels ($7.8 million) of funding for five UN bodies that are particularly hostile to Israel.” More such action will follow, he promised.

In addition, he noted that he had recalled Israel’s ambassadors from New Zealand and Senegal, two of the four countries that sponsored the resolution that have diplomatic relations with Israel, and had halted Israeli aid to Senegal.

  12. @ yamit82:
UNfair to say he accomplished nothing. He installed the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt and Libya, created the vacuum in Iraq or Iran and Isis to fill. Got Muslim terror records erased from Police/Intelligence databases. Helped engineer the coup in Ukraine. Not his fault it didn’t take in Egypt.
