ZOA: State Dept. Dismisses Egypt’s MB’s anti-Israel Statements

ZOA urges U.S. address Egypt Developments

NEW YORK — Following last week’s Egyptian first round of voting in the country’s presidential election, which has seen the Muslim Brotherhood candidate, Mohamed Mursi, win a plurality of the vote (44%), the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) has pointed to continuing, alarming developments in Egypt. The ZOA is urging the US to address these developments, not to ignore or dismiss them, as the State Department spokesman, Victoria Nuland, has been doing.

The ZOA has pointed to a list of negative developments in Egypt, including viciously anti-Israeli and anti-American statements and goals enunciated by the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leadership even before last year’s toppling of the Hosni Mubarak regime:

The MB leader, Muhammad Badi’, has spoken enthusiastically of jihad and called for a state based on Islamic law. He also spoke optimistically about the U.S. heading for a collapse.

The MB’s second-in-command, Rashad Al-Bayoumi, emphasized last year that abrogating the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty was a prime MB objective. In January, Bayoumi said that, for the MB, the peace treaty “it isn’t binding at all … On no condition will we recognize Israel. It is an enemy entity.”

Only weeks ago, the MB presidential candidate, Mohamed Mursi, said that “Egypt’s next president can’t be like his predecessor, he can’t be a follower who executes policies put to him from outside.”

Mursi’s aide has said that Mursi, if elected president, would not meet with the Israeli president.

Also last month, the MB criticized Egyptian Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa’s visit to Jerusalem as “not acceptable.”

Earlier this year, the Egyptian legislature’s lower house unanimously endorsed demands calling for the deportation of the Israeli ambassador in Egypt; halting export of natural gas to Israel and “reexamining” the Camp David peace accords with Israel.

The natural gas pipeline, through which Israel receives energy in accordance with the 1979 Egyptian/Israeli peace treaty, has been blown up or sabotaged innumerable times. Last month, Egypt’s state-owned natural gas company said that it is ending a 2005 deal to export gas to Israel because of a payment dispute.

Palestinian terrorists have already struck in August 2011 from Egyptian-controlled Sinai, murdering eight Israelis.
Terrorist infiltration into Sinai has become so dangerous that Israeli officials have warned Israeli tourists to leave immediately on account of a “critical and immediate threat … terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip are continuing to work energetically to carry out terrorist attacks against Israeli targets on Sinai’s beaches in the immediate term.”

Yet, despite all this, some in the US Administration have legitimized the MB and officials have played down these developments as being unimportant. Queried on January 5, 2012 on the explicit statements of the Brotherhood’s Rashad al-Bayoumi enunciating the objective of abrogating the Egyptian-Israeli peace treaty, State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland responded that Washington has received contrary “assurances” on this score from the Brotherhood. Then again, on May 11, when queried about recent calls by the MB for rescinding the 1979 peace treaty with Israel, Ms. Nuland gave the deeply troubling and even naive response that, “People say things in a campaign and then when they get elected they actually have to govern.”

This is another installment in the mistaken policy of ignoring the dangers posed by elections bringing to power Islamist radicals. In April 2005, for example, when Hamas, the MB’s Palestinian off-shoot, won Palestinian legislative elections, President George W. Bush’s spokesman, Scott McClellan said, “the one thing that you see when people have elections that are free and fair is that they tend to choose people who are committed to improving their livelihood, not people who are committed to terrorist acts. And I think if you look back at the previous Palestinian elections, the people that were elected, while they might have been members of Hamas, they were business professionals. They were people that ran on talking about improving the quality of life for the Palestinian people and addressing their economic needs and addressing other needs that are important to them — not terrorists.”

About the ZOA
The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) is the oldest and one of the largest pro-Israel organizations in the United States. With offices around the country and in Israel, the ZOA educates the public, elected officials, the media, and college/high school students about the truth of the ongoing Arab war against Israel. The ZOA works to strengthen U.S.-Israel relations through educational activities, public affairs programs and our work on Capitol Hill, and to combat anti-Semitism and anti-Israel bias in the media, in textbooks, in schools and on college campuses. Under the leadership of such presidents as Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, Rabbis Abba Hillel Silver and Stephen Wise, and current President Morton A. Klein, the ZOA has been – and continues to be – on the front lines of Jewish activism. www.zoa.org.

he he, sounds like flattery. Now if that were true, you would become Noahides, if you really believed we were intelligent.

  2. Carey says:

Classic Jewish ignorance pertaining to anything to do with Christianity. Do some research and ascertain some facts before you waffle. An old adage applies here: Better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you a fool than to open it and remove all doubt. You wont find a more ardent supporter of Israel and the Jewish people than me, and there is no doubt that the Jewish people are the most astounding and intelligent people in history, but when it comes to basic facts and things to do with Christianity that are a matter of secular record, ignorance abounds. I am not interested in proselytizing here, this is not the place for it but people need to get their facts right if they are going to comment on Christianity. This talk of goblins and lakes of fire is utter garbage.

    Did my research

What I believe about Christianity has nothing to do with whether Christians support Israel or not. If gentiles wishto support Israel then support and if not don’t.

I agree it’s all Garbage but it’s Christian garbage not Jewish garbage.

    lake of Fire

    Revelation 19:20

: And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshiped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
    Revelation 20:10

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
    Revelation 20:14-15

Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. [NKJV]
    Revelation 21:8

But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.

Revelation 16:13 Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs; they came out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

American King James Version Revelation 16:14
For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

False Prophecies About the Armageddon: Jesus’ Predictions:
“But I tell you: From now on you will see ‘the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power’ and ‘coming on the clouds of heaven.'” (Matthew 26:64 NAB)
Then Jesus answered, “I am; and ‘you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.'” (Mark 14:62 NAB)

    2) Jesus mistakenly tells his followers that he will return and establish his kingdom within their lifetime. Matthew 23:36 & 24:34

Amen, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. (Matthew 23:36 NAB)

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming upon the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a trumpet blast, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. “Learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things, know that he is near, at the gates. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. (Matthew 24:29-35 NAB)

    3) YET AGAIN, Jesus claims those standing RIGHT BEFORE HIM shall see the Armageddon. Matthew 16:28 “There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” Don’t let Christians lie to you and claim Jesus was referring to his modern day believers. The words “some standing HERE will not taste death” clearly refutes such nonsense. Obviously the people he was speaking to died, and curiously Jesus STILL isn’t here to claim his kingdom.

    4) Jesus falsely prophesies that the end of the world will come within his listeners’ lifetimes.
Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. (Mark 13:30-31 NAB)

He also said to them, “Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come in power.” (Mark 9:1 NAB)

    5) Jesus falsely predicts that some of his listeners would live to see him return and establish the kingdom of God.

“Truly I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:27 NAB)

    6) Jesus implies that he will return to earth during the lifetime of John. (John 21:22)

    7) Jesus says that all that he describes (his return, signs in the sun, moon, wars, stars, etc.) will occur within the lifetime of his listeners. He purposely defines their generation and NOT a future one. Considering that NONE of those signs took place during the resurrection and that he uses the term of “Heaven and earth shall pass away”, Clearly Jesus is prophesizing that nearly 2,000 years ago Armageddon SHOULD have occurred. Luke 21:25-33

“There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and on earth nations will be in dismay, perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves. People will die of fright in anticipation of what is coming upon the world, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. But when these signs begin to happen, stand erect and raise your heads because your redemption is at hand.” He taught them a lesson. “Consider the fig tree and all the other trees. When their buds burst open, you see for yourselves and know that summer is now near; in the same way, when you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near. Amen, I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have taken place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. (Luke 21:25-33 NAB)

Matthew 10:23 also has Jesus telling his disciples that the second coming will occur before the disciples finish preaching in Israel: “When they persecute you in one town, flee to another. Amen, I say to you, you will not finish the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.” (Matthew 10:23 NAB)]

  4. @ Arison:

how badly we need your deity. You see us as holding up your redemption?

Oat is into end-times as depicted in his book of Revelations, you know the one with all those demons and devils, goblins and fiery Lakes of Fire.

But first we must have our Gog U Magog that he believes is Armageddon ( Hebrew is Har Meggdo ) where the Israelite northern tribes put up their fiercest battle against the Assyrians. He wants a repeat performance and any Israeli government that does anything he believes that will delay the big event he vilifies. WE JEWS ARE HOLDING UP HIS SHOW! He is scared to death HE WILL BE LEFT BEHIND! 😛

  5. @ Arison:

It is Al Queda which are not interested in political power, but the MB? Nahhhhhh, they’ll posture and pose for a while. At the end of the day, if what you describe happens, then we do have the nuclear advantage.

Nukes? Do we have Nukes? Those same people who claim we have nukes saw Israel too scared to use them in the 73 war and Dayan was ready to hand the Egyptian the keys to the country. He could have ended it with a single nuke and saved thousands of good Jews. Nukes? Israel is afraid to invade Gaza and we have absorbed thousands of missiles against our country, our towns, our cities and our fellow Jews for many years. Nukes? If we have them we are too scared to use them so what the hell good are they?

I always believed that Israel would not be the second ME country to use Nukes. Today I’m not so convinced. I would rather have an Obama as PM of Israel than have BB and Barak running the show that’s how much I despise them and what my confidence level is in them.

  6. Arison,
Your head is in your Aris. If you reject Tanakh, what makes you think you are even Jewish? Dumb aris! You don’t even know that it was Jews that wrote the “pagan Bible”, do you? It’s idiots like you, that give Judaism a bad name

Your ‘bible’ is not ours. You have xtian forums why don’t you preach your bible there? Don’t do it at a Jewish place, it’s offensive. I’m well aware of the deceptions used to convince us stiff necked people, how badly we need your deity. You see us as holding up your redemption?

  7. Yamit, yuup, the Shia tribesmen, I like that 🙂 If only. And better yet, a pipeline from there to Tel Aviv, would be even better 🙂

I don’t think Egypt will attack Israel. Even if the MB do take over, the worst they will do is what Bush did, insist on a ‘palestinian’ state. It is Al Queda which are not interested in political power, but the MB? Nahhhhhh, they’ll posture and pose for a while. At the end of the day, if what you describe happens, then we do have the nuclear advantage.

  8. @ Arison:

Israel would use mercenaries Like the Shia tribesmen to take over their own oil fields stolen from them by the Saudi Royals. They may be the hated Shia but they are Arabs and Hate the Aryan Persians more.

  9. @ Arison:

I wouldn’t worry about Egypt, it’s a country on the brink of starvation. Even if they break off their ‘peace treaty’, so what? Israel wouldn’t lose much, and we didn’t gain much by it anyway, most Egyptians are anti Israel.

That’s when they become the most dangerous. Egypt is still our most implacable mortal enemy and they have had over thirty years of American arms transfers and American training. Israel will be fighting against similar weapons and weapons systems. They also produce under license Abrams tanks and other weapons under licenses which like Turkey belong to the military.

A country that has gone to war four times against Israel is dangerous in any circumstance and a 5th time is not beyond reason. They have all of Americas Arms supplied to the Saudis to back them up as well, including some nukes purchased by the Saudis from Pakistan.

  10. @ BlandOatmeal:

As usual your grade on reading comp is in the minus column.

I think he was referring to your pagan bible not ours.

There are still many Jews who refuse to allow you C …Pagans to define who we are.

  11. It is not Israel against the West and your ‘bible’ that will save it.

    Arison,

Your head is in your Aris. If you reject Tanakh, what makes you think you are even Jewish? Dumb aris! You don’t even know that it was Jews that wrote the “pagan Bible”, do you? It’s idiots like you, that give Judaism a bad name.

  12. BlandOatmeal Said:

to root out and destroy both the Bible and its adherents. Israel, of course, which stands as a living monument of the efficacy of God’s word, will be slated for destruction by both sides.
    End of analysis.

Your analysis, sucks, and don’t use your ‘support’ to preach your pagan deity here, it has nothing to do with Israel. It is not Israel against the West and your ‘bible’ that will save it. Hashem looks out for us and Israel.

  13. I wouldn’t worry about Egypt, it’s a country on the brink of starvation. Even if they break off their ‘peace treaty’, so what? Israel wouldn’t lose much, and we didn’t gain much by it anyway, most Egyptians are anti Israel.

  14. bernard ross and Laura, if Israel were to take Saudi oil, the US would attack Israel. 65% trade is with Arab countries, they’d boycott the US, you forget, Russia too, the Muslim states there that have oil, wouldn’t tolerate this. The US would be toast quicker than you can say Jack Sprat. That is isn’t allowing for the probability that the Saudi oil fields are rigged with nuclear devices already, which credible intelligence sources believe is the case. Like Israel the saudis have prepared their own samson option.the americans would turn on their own Jews. End of Israel.

  15. @ bernard ross:

Israels efforts should all be towards real independence in military, economics and resources.

    Bernard,

I share your sentiments; bit I see that Israel is limited in this regard. Israel needs to REDEFINE warfare, the way the Europeans did when they appropriated the Chinese knowledge of gunpowder and combined it with efficient ways of producing steel and cannon.

Western military technology today is based on incredibly expensive weapons systems built around digital electronics. Countries where these technologies are in the hands of the people, such as the US and Israel, have an advantage; because they can tap a vast pool of knowledge to keep abreast of the latest developments. Archaic, restrictive societies such as the Muslim world are at a distinct disadvantage, because they must pay a premium for second-string weaponry developed by others.

The Muslims have made up for their deficit, in part, by employing a technology the West doesn’t have: suicidal religious fanaticism. The strength of this weaponry, is the faith Muslim people have in the lies of Qur’an. Expose those lies, and the Muslims are defeated. The heart of the current West vs. Islam contest, therefore, is where digital technology meets faith: namely, the Internet.

In the realm of faith, the current American and Israeli governments come up woefully short. Both are atheist governments, denying the existence of any sort of god. It is FAITH in a god, not the god itself, that gives power to the believer. The Muslims have this power; because even though they have a phoney god, they have strong faith in that god. The West will therefore lose this contest, because even though they have the technological ability to create great destruction of people and resources, they are powerless against the real weaponry. Economic resources are useless against a people who can topple the world’s tallest buildings using box cutters; and killing people is an ineffective weapon against a populace that religiously seeks death.

It is in the realm of faith, that this battle will ultimately be won; and the victors will not be the atheist, faithless West nor the idolatrous Muslims; it will be those whose faith is in the ULTIMATE REALITY of the Bible, the book that perfectly explains the entire universe. People who truly believe the Bible are, like the Muslims, impervious to death. Moreover, they are impossible to identify by ordinary means, because the language of their faith is wrapped up in their very character.

The current conflict between the West and the Muslims is ephemeral in nature: The war will continue, until both sides have exhausted their resources. The West will collapse economically, and therefore lose its edge; and the Muslims will collapse spiritually, as Islam is exposed and people weary of dying for a lie. Under these circumstances, belief in the Bible will come to the forefront as the chief threat against both the Muslims and the West, and the warfare will be focussed on these lines: The Muslims will pursue an ultimately vain struggle to keep their people ignorant, while the West will seek to use every electronic weapon at its disposal (Homeland Security and TSA, anyone?) to root out and destroy both the Bible and its adherents. Israel, of course, which stands as a living monument of the efficacy of God’s word, will be slated for destruction by both sides.

    End of analysis.

  16. there is no need to court “allies” with independence, they will then come to court Israel.

Exactly. But Israel believes that by acting aggressively, will cause it to become a pariah. It doesn’t occur to Israeli leadership that gaining power will in fact bring nations to its side. As horrible and repressive the regime in China is, the world caters to China because it has acquired economic power. As horrific as the arab nations are, the world caters to them because they control the oil. Israeli leaders should stop trying to prove how moral a country Israel is and wanting to be liked, and instead focus on becoming very powerful.

  17. Israels efforts should all be towards real independence in military, economics and resources. a truly independent Israel can expand and appropriate the resources of its enemies and put itself into a position of control. the seizure of the saudi oil fields would do a lot towards reducing terror to Jews and send the sheikhs back to their desert tents. taking back the sinai and the suez canal would be a strategic military and economic asset. all is possible with independence. there is no need to court “allies” with independence, they will then come to court Israel. Everyone should imagine what the world would be like with Israel controlling a large portion of the worlds oil. There would be no need for the others to fight for it as Israel would sell it reasonably to pro Israeli states

  18. The ZOA is urging the US to address these developments, not to ignore or dismiss them…

Lots of luck. Ignoring the world is what Barack Hussein Obama is all about — at least until elections are past. He plans on constructing and keeping a fantasy world going, AT ALL COST TO EVERYONE ELSE (including the French, Saudis, Israelis, Syrians, you name it). That is why he refuses to acknowledge the danger of the Muslim Brotherhood takeover of the Middle East, why he is turning a blind eye to Al Qaeda’s involvement in Syria, why he is encouraging the Iranians to step up production of nuclear warheads, why he has nixed every Turkish, French and Saudi plan to off Assad, and why he is cozying up to an unpopular Putin in Russia.

If I were a hegemonist, anti-Western dictator or terrorist, I would view the next five months as a golden opportunity to stir up mischief.

  19. @ Bert:

Blaming the State Dept for every admin and I emphasize Every admin since 1948 is the same as saying that every President since 1948 did not have an independent foreign policy , was not in control of foreign policy and should not be held responsible for any actions and results of American foreign policy. What you and others are saying is that The state dept is a government unto themselves and the President is their puppet.

I don’t buy it. It get’s Presidents and their administrations off the hook and conversely the American people.

Here is a synopsis of the record on Israel: America abandoned Israel in 1948 believing and expecting Israel to be wiped out and imposing an arms embargo in-order to make sure. Truman who issued the embargo expected the worst yet he embargoed anyway. America threatened physical intervention against Israel to protect Egypt in 56 and 67.

America supports brutal Arab regimes, but condemns what they call Israeli transgressions. America arms Israel’s enemies but refuses to recognize Jerusalem and refuses to move its embassy to Jerusalem. American allies among Arabs boycott Israel, support anti-Israeli guerrillas, prepare their armies against Israel, ban Israelis from their countries, sustain monarchies and religious exclusivity—but remain America’s allies.

The US Administration’s logic is simple: America is the primary armory of most of Israels Arab enemies. So she arms both sides and plays peace maker on occasion to show the Arabs that America controls Israel which increases American influence with the Arabs; but for that they need a well armed Israeli barking dog. Israels dependence since 1973 on major American arms sales has locked Israel into a dependence vassal like relationship so deep that any major interruptions could threaten Israels existence. So for a lousy $3 billion a year America has herself a win win situation that keeps the pot constantly boiling and American Industry mega profits.

The US did not prevent Pakistan from obtaining nuclear weapons, even though Wahhabist Pakistan is the largest existential threat to Israel, likely to supply nuclear weapons to anti-Israeli terrorists. Saudi Arabia, America’s close ally, financed Pakistan’s nuclear program and it is reported that they took possession of at least two Nukes as payment for financing the Islamic bomb. Bush before he left office not only sold the Saudis and the emirates $30 billion in weapons but also nuclear technology. Obama went even farther than Bush by selling those same customers another $60 billion in top of the line weapons, platforms and systems.

America went to war to defend the sheikhdom of Kuwait, but pushes Israel to to give up to our enemies (the Arabs) Judea and Jerusalem! That is American Middle East policy since Reagan.

I credit the the State Dept is anti Israel and at its core antisemitic but they did not make and carry out every policy of every administration from 48 till now without the agreement and consent of every American President.

  20. The State Department has always been anti Jewish and anti Israel.
George C. Marshall in 1947 pressured Truman to NOT support a Jewish State in Palestine and ordered an arms embargo of the Middle East which affected only Israel. This contributed to the extremely high casualty count in the 1948 War of independence.
The problem is not mainly the criminals that dominate in the State Department. Rather the problem is the corrupt Jewish leadership that is afraid to speak up and the Jewish public that fails to throw them out of power.
