INTO THE FRAY: “Palestine” – The perils in pictures

By Martin Sherman

As the coming Paris conference looms closer, avid two-state proponents should understand what the prescription they advocate really means: Israel through the binoculars of a Palestinian “intelligence officer”

If a Palestinian state is established, it will be armed to the teeth. Within it there will be bases of the most  extreme terrorist forces, equipped with anti-tank and anti-aircraft shoulder-launched rockets, which will endanger not only random passers-by, but every airplane and helicopter taking off in the  skies of Israel and every vehicle traveling along the major traffic routes in the coastal plain…[T]he frontiers  of the Palestinian state will constitute an excellent staging point for mobile forces to mount attacks on  infrastructure installations vital for Israel’s existence, to impede the freedom of action of the Israeli  air-force in the skies over Israel, and to cause bloodshed among the population…in areas adjacent to the  frontier-line… – Shimon Peres, “Tomorrow is Now”, (Keter publishers),  pp. 232, 255.

Israel, small and exposed, will neither be able to exist nor to prosper if its urban centers, its vulnerable airport and its narrow winding roads, are shelled.  This is the fundamental difference between them and us, this is the terrible danger involved in the establishment of a third independent sovereign state between us and the Jordan River.Amnon Rubinstein, ‘The Pitfall of a Third State’, Ha’artez, Aug 8, 1976.

These two citations encapsulate, with chilling accuracy, the deadly dangers to which Israel would be exposed if a Palestinian state were to be established on the commanding hills overlooking the country’s heavily populated coastal plain, in which about 80% of the country’s civilian population and commercial activity, are located.

As the upcoming Paris conference, designed to foist a two-state reality on Israel, draws closer, it is vital that the public, both in Israel and abroad, understand just how precarious Israel’s situation is liable to be if such a perilous prescription be adopted. These dire dangers are graphically conveyed by the following series of photographs taken from sites inside the territory designated for any future Palestinian state. They demonstrate dramatically how vulnerable and exposed Israel would appear through the binoculars of a Palestinian “intelligence officer” (a.k.a. terrorist).

Greater Tel Aviv sky-line – as seen from “Palestine”

The clearly visible Azrieli Towers complex, an iconic feature of the central Tel Aviv skyline, houses a three-story shopping mall and recreation area, a thirteen-floor luxury hotel, and numerous prestigious commercial companies, including many of the country’s leading law firms.  And, oh yes, it is adjacent to the compound (known as “Camp Rabin”, named after the late Yitzhak Rabin) that comprises Israel’s Defense Ministry and the   headquarters of the IDF General Staff…

The Aviv Tower, located in the bustling vicinity of the Ramat Gan Diamond Exchange, is the tallest building in Israel, surrounded by popular restaurants, cafes, commercial enterprises and recreational facilities. The Akirov Towers houses the former apartment of Ehud Barak, underscoring the stunning fact that there is a line of sight between the residence of the then-Defense Minister and …“Palestine”!

Ben Gurion Airport—through binoculars of a Palestinian “intelligence officer”

Main terminal & runway at Ben Gurion Airport – as seen from “Palestine”: This shot underscores just how utterly exposed Israel’s only international airport would be to any hostile elements (renegade or otherwise), deployed on the hills overlooking the main terminal and runway.

For those familiar with Ben Gurion airport, the long inclined corridor connecting the passport control stations with the large duty free area is clearly visible from well within “Palestine”.

A tempting target: The unnerving sight of a plane clearly visible taking off on the main runway—hopelessly exposed to any nefarious forces in the nearby hills inside “Palestine”.

Israel’s vulnerable power generating facilities – as seen from “Palestine”

The Orot-Rabin power station, near Hadera (named after the late Yitzhak Rabin): The plant is currently Israel’s largest power station with almost 20% of the Israel Electric Corporation’s total generating capacity.  It is adjacent to Caesarea, a very upmarket locality, home to many of Israel’s rich and famous, including current PM Benjamin Netanyahu. Taken from the site of Homesh, one of the four communities destroyed in Ariel Sharon’s 2005 disengagement from Northern Samaria (which took place at the same time as the Gaza disengagement).

The Orot-Rabin Power station at sunset.

The Reading power station, supplying electricity to the Greater Tel Aviv district. The plant is located close to Tel Aviv port, Sde Dov airport and the upmarket neighborhoods of North Tel Aviv and Ramat Aviv, where Tel Aviv University is located.  Taken from the vicinity of the Palestinian village of Rantis.

Terror Tunnels and Transportation

Taken near the Palestinian-Arab city of Qalquilaya, a hot bed of terror in the past, this drone shot underscores the grave danger to traffic on the Trans-Israel highway (Route 6), connecting the North of the country with the South. In light of the threat of terror tunnels, mortar fire and rocket attacks emanating from Gaza, little imagination is required to visualize the consequences of evacuating areas abutting one of Israel’s major transportation arteries.

Pictures worth thousands of words

These photos convey the stark truths, expressed in the introductory excerpts above, as to the dire dangers a Palestinian state would pose to Israel’s “urban centers, its vulnerable airport… and traffic routes in the coastal plain … as well as to infrastructure installations vital for Israel’s existence…”

So, if you still support the two-state formula—beware! You just might get what you wish for!

  1. We are at this point in History just because of IDIOCY of Israeli Leaders from THE LEFT – including Itzhak Rabish, that many sites bear his name!

These leaders from the left actually ABHOR Judaism and took a RIDE on a big lie that they were building a JEWISH STATE! Herzl, Ben Bullion, Yitzhak Rabish – ALL ATTACKED JUDAISM in favor of STUPID LEFTIST AGENDA!

After Six Day War it was Dayan & Ben Bullion who were NOT EAGER to take Jerusalem and especially Temple Mount! I think it was Uzi Narkis who DROVE Israel into taking those sites! I think it was Dayan who chose to leave it in hands of WAQF !
Regardless, as long as Israeli Leaders don’t SHOW RESPECT to their own homeland, how do they expect the HOSTILE WORLD to respect that !?!?!

It was IN IDIOTIC announcement by BB to RECOGNIZE A TWO STATE SOLUTION!

The IRGUN (ETZEL) always stated TWO BANKS OF THE JORDAN

  2. @ M. Cohen:

    Hope you are right !!

    However… you stated:
“..financed this anarchist entry into the W-H..”

Hussein Obama IS NOT AN ANARCHIST!
Most people – even those who call themselves Anarchists HAVE NO CLUE !!!

Hussein Obama is a Marxo-Fascist-Moslem, a TRAITOR to Americanism and avowed ENEMY of The USA!

  3. These past 8 years have been a colossal mistake and at the very top are the American Jews
who financed this anarchist entry into the W-H. American Jews own this and should look in
the mirror and see the reflexion of an oxymoron. That being said, let’s look at the whole picture.
The Moslems have invaded Europe, Terror is everywhere you want to look. Donald Trump was
asked repeatedly if he would run for President of the United States: his response was always:
Only if the country is in trouble! That day has arrived and he is up to the job. He will clean-up
the mess of Obama idiotic policies, slash every executive order, cleanup house, put America
on a strng footing. Concurrently, Europe will embark in doing similar actions:
    Disband the European Union
    Cleanup Arabs from the Continent
Go back to their respective currencies
    Eliminate Terrorism
As for Israel: We are there to stay, period from the Jordan River to the Sea
The return to us Jews to the land of our forefathers cannot be altered by no one, certainly
not by the UN, Obama or anyone else for that matter.
Even the Vatican got into this. Why? Because anti-Semotrs the world over see how successful
and strong Israel is. Look at the Arab a World: it’s in ruins.
So, my Jewish people, from this Jew who knows a lot about all of this, never ever will the Pals,
these fanatics, lazy, backstabbing will ever have a state.

  4. @ Raphael:

I suggested in an earlier post that I think the solution is for Israel to normalize Area C, continue to patrol areas B and C while leaving formal status unchanged, but require the PA to operate as a puppet government if it wishes to be allowed to remain in place under the supervision of a military governor with absolute powers like McCarthur in Japan. And like Japan, in this case, anti-semitic sedition must be removed from schools, media and mosque, the terrorist organizations must be dismantled as specified under Oslo, arabs selling land to jews must be protected, and women’s rights and minority religious groups rights must be protected. The Israeli military and intelligence services must remain in control of the borders and ferret out terrorists as they are doing now. Arabs who wish to emigrate should be generously assisted and compensated. Those who facilitate others leaving should get a bonus along with those they help, like when you recommend an app on your phone. Arabs should also be encouraged to move from areas bordering area c. When such areas are cleared of arabs, they should be settled and normalized. Salami tactics can be a two-edged sword. And a two-way street. Maybe I should stop with the metaphors, already, before somebody strangles me. Metaphorically speaking. Still, it takes two to tango. Alright! Alright! I’m going. I’m going. See? You don’t have to push. Geez! I din’t expect a kind ‘a Spanish Inquisition!

  5. A “two state solution” is the “final solution”. This article shows why. So, let’s put that (bad) idea aside… forever. But, if there is to be only one state (Israel), what will you do with all those wild asses of men (and women) who remain in your midst? THAT is the real question!

  6. Apparently the dollops of vitriol that the radical rag has been serving up lately to its readers against the Jewish state were too much even for him—and he announced that he was considering giving up reading it. Of course it, remains to be seen how resolute Goldberg will be in adhering to his intended abstinence—but at least he deserves some interim credit for taking—and articulating—umbrage at the blatant and baseless bile spewed out in pieces like Gideon Levy’s recent “Stop Living in Denial, Israel is an Evil State” (July 31)
    http://www.jewishpress.com/indepth/columns/into-the-fray-martin-sherman/into-the-fray-the-new-nuts-jeffrey-goldberg-the-jerusalem-post-the-question-of-sanity/2016/08/17/0/?print

Martin Sherman’s article is always useful. Somehow it led me to another of not so long ago from which the above comes. The name Goldberg makes me cringe. I have seen his recent articles on the Trump-hating website Harry’s Place in recent months.

Yes I just remember how. I was following the link from above which brought me to this paragraph from another person… “National Union Chairman MK Yaakov Katz is expected to present the census data to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Cabinet ministers and the Knesset plenum on Monday.

Oh what a nice and good man is Mr Katz! But wait the name hit some memory in my brain. What was it?

And Martin Sherman in that article provided it too. Katz and the Jerusalem Post Editorial Board were in favour of the 2005 withdrawal from Gaza which had such devastating results for Israel. They argued for it on the basis of a lasting peace agreement.

So we are back at the central point. Can there be an agreement of any sort with Islam?

Katz who seems to have had some connection t the “settlers” seems to thinks so. This raises very fundamental questions!

Are the “Palestinians” a facet of Islam and Jihad or not? If they are a facet of Jihad then no peace agreement is possible. Those who argue that there can be, such as so many Israelis including Netanyahu, are consciously separating the “Palestinians” from Jihad.

But if they do this then they also will not be able to defend these leaders: among others Mubarak, Gadhafi, the Tunisian leader Ben Ali, above all Saddam, Milosevic, Gaghbo (in Ivory Coast but now in a Hague prison serving the Globalist sentence) ALSO AGAINST THE JIHAD.

But a sour note…Martin has still not said anything in defence of Assad and in defence of Russia in the Crimea, and much more.

That leaves it in no easy position. Israeli politics is rotting to the core. And there is heaps of hypocrisy.

  7. Eleanor Dubrofsky Said:

“Each territory may negotiate with Israel, its relationship with the state of Israel and the status of its citizens with respect to Israel”

So, in Area C, the Jewish Settlers Council will negotiate with the national government (at the moment, they are under military rule based on outdated Jordanian and British law) and PA will negotiate for A and B? With regards to the latter, isn’t that what the whole Oslo disaster was all about? Didn’t they do that already? Separate Nationhood was never mentioned in the original plan. With regards to the former, why do they need to be separate from the rest of Israel? They don’t want that. They want the same civil laws and protections as the rest of Israel. The entire Jewish population of Yesha and all of the Jewish holy sites are in Area C where Jews are the overwhelming majority, though the arabs are trying to change that on the ground with EU support.

  8. @ ROBERT FELDMAN:
    xxx
It’s a solution-sort of-to wipe out the Jewish State, with millions of terrorists piling into the area given to the Arab mamzerim. Israel, unless it goes to “TOTAL” War, will be worn down and then eliminated. There are far tpoo many do-gooders, and selfish lefties in the country for it to do anything even for defence, with unanimity.

  9. The Torah Opinion
I see these pictures and I see The Hand of The Creator blessing the work and the ingenuity of His beloved People. We can be assured no evil will prevail against Eretz Yisrael.

Zac 2:6 Ho, ho, flee from the land of the north, saith the Lord: for I will gather you from the four winds of heaven, saith The Lord,

Zac 2:8 For thus saith the Lord Almighty; After the glory has He sent me to the nations that spoiled you: for he that touches you is as one that touches The Apple of His Eye.
Zac 2:9 For, behold, I bring my hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to them that serve them: and ye shall know that the Lord Almighty has sent me.

  10. Look very closely
at the pictures and see for yourself how it imperils Israel and its civilians to place a rage laden, centuries long, hate filled, Judeophobic, brand new, kleptocratic sovereign in Israel’s bedroom that can and will arm itself (as per Shimon Peres) with the help of the Arab-Muslim world.
    Look again
at the pictures, as the story is laid before anyone who has eyes to see.
I have been there and have seen this view.
It only takes just one civilian airliner to be shot down or one major office building (remember 9/11?) and massive war will follow. The carnage will be massive as children playing in school women working and shopping and the elderly, just resting, will be sacrificed.
There will be no accepted excuses that “we can’t control everyone”. Israel will be re-actively forced to evacuate massive numbers of people or this will happen again.
The U.N. will have to de-sovereign (ha-ha) the horrible, deadly mistake.
    Don
PS: Look at the pictures again!!

  11. @ ROBERT FELDMAN:

I guess that’s dependant on one’s definition of “solution”…….ours or theirs. Personally I have my own ideas for a “solution”, regrettably not politically correct these days.

  12. KISS – Keep it simple stupid!! Go back to basic principles.

Declare Israel as bound by the UN Charter holding all member states to do likewise. Consequently, the Jewish National Homeland covers the lands between the Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea. Those lands consist of the State of Israel and four “territories” (Areas A,B,C and Gaza) – one currency and one military (the IDF) and two official languages (Hebrew and Arabic). Each territory may negotiate with Israel, its relationship with the state of Israel and the status of its citizens with respect to Israel. Since we have already withdrawn from Gaza, let them rot until they are ready for free elections and a relationship with Israel, if ever.

Further, working on the presumption (if not explicitly stated in the UN Charter)of equality among member states in the UN, Israel agrees to accept all Arab refugees who fled during the War of Independence based on a the definition of “refugee” that applies to all other member states of the UN.

Put that before the 72 nations in Paris and walk out the door.

Realistically, nothing will change and that may be for the best. At least the world will be put on notice that Israel is not and will not be treated as a pariah state and that Israel and all member states of the UN must abide by the UN Charter. In other words, any resolutions made by the UN that are inconsistent with its Charter are ultra vires the UN, illegal and of no force or effect.
