Can Democracy Survive without Nationalism?

By Ewa Thompson, AMERICAN THINKER

In modern English, nationalism has become a dirty word.  It is lumped together with racismxenophobia, chauvinism, and intolerance.  To accuse someone of harboring nationalistic views is a formula for exclusion.  Few scholars can survive carrying such charges in their professional luggage.  Accusations of nationalism are directed at politicians as well, with predictable results.  In academia and the press, attempts to discredit and condemn nationalism are numerous.  A recent example is “An Open LetterAgainst the New Nationalism” published August 19, 2019 in the Commonweal magazine.

It has to be emphasized that aggressiveness toward neighbors and attempts to destroy them for the sake of one’s own Lebensraum are not nationalism.  They are a pathology prompted by greed and arrogance.  One of the shortcomings of the aforementioned Letter is unjustified attribution of aggressiveness to what I call defensive nationalism, bent on preservation of identity and history.

Netanyahu says he will extend ‘Jewish sovereignty’ to all West Bank settlements

T. Belman. Why is Bibi settling for the settlements only. I thought that we were going to annex all of Area C. Under his leadership he has effective given away Area C.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday vowed to extend “Jewish sovereignty” to all settlements in the West Bank — a move tantamount to annexation — seeking to shore up right-wing support some two weeks ahead of the September 17 Knesset elections.

Speaking to elementary school students in the settlement of Elkana on the first day of the school year, Netanyahu was echoing a pledge he made days before the previous national vote in April.

The premier said that no more settlements will be evacuated, as happened in 2005 when the entire Israeli civilian presence in the Gaza Strip — known collectively as Gush Katif — was removed.

The Palestinian Authority has reportedly begun the process of issuing building permits to all areas of the West Bank — even those where Israel maintains security and administrative control.

PA Local Governance Minister Majdi al-Saleh has instructed officials and regional managers in his office to expand the plans of Palestinian towns to include surrounding areas as well, Haaretz reported Saturday night. The report quoted him as saying the move was part of the PA decision to do away with the distinction between the various parts of the West Bank.

That decision was announced in early August by PA Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh during a meeting in Ramallah that was attended by Saleh and Jerusalem Affairs Minister Fadi al-Hadami, among others.

Congress’ lone truthteller on Islamic antisemitism – Rep. Mo Brooks

Mo Brooks Agonistes, during an August 21, 2019 interview, became the only House Representative to openly decry the doctrinal Islamic Antisemitism animating the grotesque Antisemitic exploits of Muslim Congresswomen Tlaib and Omar.

Dr. Andrew G. Bostom, INN

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) stands alone, tragically, amongst all his Congressional colleagues from either party, in speaking with gimlet-eyed candor on the doctrinal jihadist bigotry of mainstream Islam. Shortly after the jihad carnage wrought by jihadist (“call me mujahideen”) Omar Mateen on the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando Florida, June 12, 2016—which targeted homosexuals—Brooks provided the following informed, unbowdlerized observations (during a live interview, and in a follow-up press release):

“The root cause of the [jihad] terrorism that we have been seeing over the last 15- or so years has been Islam. There are provisions in the Koran, there are provisions in the hadith [traditions of Muhammad] and sira [earliest pious Muslim biographies of Muhammad]  that if you follow them it instruct Muslims to kill certain types of people [i.e.,wage jihad against them, to impose the Sharia] and homosexuals [Koranhadith] are right up there at the top. It’s pretty clear that Islamic doctrine says you are to kill homosexuals where you find them…[Y]ou are instructed as a Muslim to kill non-believers…The motivation to kill is found in the Koran and various other learned scriptures in the Islamic religion…in the principles that are taught by Islam”

Arabs from Samaria have built illegal buildings in areas designated for a new industrial zone in Samaria. The State has to date refused to demolish the illegal structures even though they have been built on land under full Israeli control.

Palestinian Arabs are also expected to work in the “Bustanei Hefetz” industrial zone, which will be built on 980 dunams (242 acres) between the city of Taibe and the two of Avnei Hefetz.

There will be over 100 factories and commercial complexes that will employ thousands of workers.

The Humanitarian Hoax of the New World Order: Killing America With Kindness – hoax 45

by Linda Goudsmit, PUNDICITY

The Humanitarian Hoax is a deliberate and deceitful tactic of presenting a destructive policy as altruistic. The humanitarian huckster presents himself as a compassionate advocate when in fact he is the disguised enemy.

Every natural force on Earth from fire to nuclear energy has the potential for construction or destruction. This inherent duality presents man with moral choices between construction and destruction. Traditional Judeo-Christian morality deems construction good and destruction bad. What happens when the accepted foundational morality of society is challenged by a competing narrative that insists construction is bad and destruction is good? Let’s find out.

Societies as small as families and as large as nation states are organized by accepted principles codified into written or unwritten laws accepted by member units. When societies abide by the accepted rules they are considered to be at homeostasis – they are at peace and in balance. When a competing narrative intrudes, the society becomes destabilized and must either accept or reject the competing ideology to regain balance, peace, and homeostasis.

The New York Times Minimizes the Threat of Islamism Again:

A Strange Story about Sweden’s Populist Response

by Howard Rotberg

The New York Times Has a Jewish Problem. Part 1

And here is a recent essay of mine carrying forward the story of the NYT’s incompetence and malice towards Jews in its attempts to minimize the threat of Islamism compared to  white supremacy/nationalism – and its absurd favoritism for genocidal Arabs over the one small nation state of the Jews.

Is there much doubt that many Muslims, even those who migrate to the West, agree that Sharia Law is preferred to western constitutional law? Do we tolerate the risks from those who advocate really barbaric practices anathema to Western civilization, such as beating wives who are disobedient , female genital mutilation, honour killings, polygamy, marrying underage females, taking sexual slaves, and raping non-Muslims? In my book, Tolerism: The Ideology Revealed, I discuss the essence of western toleration of conduct which is said to be protected by freedom of religion, but which stems from an ideology using a religion, which ideology is simply evil and barbaric and threatens our constitutionally enshrined freedoms. The Islamists prevent the reform of the religion that must occur to make it compatible with western values.
