This is a pivotal victory. Whereas the Uniparty still hold a majority, to maintain control of his speakership, McCarthy will either have to appease the MAGA members of his caucus, or be faced with a challenge to his position which he will require the Dems to survive. This is not what we all wished for with the Red Wave in this election, but the Red Wave was a really small wave, and even stolen elections have consequences. But the return of debate, member participation, corruption investigations and leadership accountability based on a house vote is a pretty good move towards the reforms which the Red Wave was intended to secure.
