People who don’t think being Jewish is at all important don’t like Israel

In August, the New York Times interviewed 5 people and claimed that “Many Jews Support Mamdani”.
The Washington Post worked slightly harder than that for its headline “Many American Jews sharply critical of Israel on Gaza, Post poll finds”.
How does WaPo define Jews?
“The sample includes adults who identify as Jewish by religion as well as those who identify as adults with no religious affiliation but Jewish ethnically, culturally or through their family background — and either were raised Jewish or have a parent who is Jewish.”
So umm anyone who is related to anyone Jewish pretty much. The numbers are revealing of whom the Post was sampling.
The Post didn’t provide its actual numbers. Instead it appears to have conducted its own ‘survey’ and then, bizarrely, compared those numbers to previous Pew surveys to claim that Jews are now more anti-Israel.
A whole lot of the respondents answered that being Jewish is not at all important or very important which would suggest that these people don’t really see themselves as Jewish.
And probably aren’t.
People who said being Jewish was important generally supported Israel. Those who didn’t, well didn’t.
The Post’s poll doesn’t show what it claims to because what it really did was sample a whole lot of people who don’t even see themselves as Jewish by their own admission, and found that they don’t like Israel.
I’m reminded of The New Left and the Origins of the Cold War by Robert James Maddox. Princeton University Press. 1973. A little known but very important book, a used paperback first edition of which I have in my hand. A must read. I think I found it in the terrific bibliography to one of David Horowitz’s books, Maybe “Radical Son,” my copy of which I gave away so I can’t check – I should get it, again – some years ago. He details how one seminal New Left author after another based their revisionist histories on spicing together parts of unrelated speeches in unrelated contexts like this and other deceptive techniques, including David Horowitz’s own Marxist Magnum Opus “Free World Colossus” (1965), which gets a whole chapter!
And of course, more recently, amidst the unending avalanche of fake news from the legacy media, I think this one kinda’ stands out, no?. Don’t you just love the breathtaking understatement? The sheer Chutzpah of
these people. (Not a compliment.) What they did was a serious crime. They helped start a McCarthyite witch-hunt that ruined many lives, and careers, sending innocent people to prison and launching show trials under the illegal Biden regime. And they’re still at it, full force. In addition to the Gaza blood libels that are causing Jews to be massacred! Deliberately, maliciously misreporting is not protected speech here in the U.S. and they don’t have a bill of
rights in the UK.
They don’t give exact dates. If it was before the midterms in November 2022 and Presidential election of November 2024, they were interfering in our elections. And the BBC is a state broadcasting system. While attention and Cold War hysteria was deflected onto the now non-Communist Russians, who are allied
with our enemies only because we have been messing with them since the fall of
the Soviet Union, but whose influence and interference has been since verified to have been comparatively minimal.
