JD Vance in Pakistan? Secret Deal Could End the Iran War

Peloni: An insightful conversation with Or Yissachar from the David Institute.  Among many other important points raised by Yissachar is that despite Iranian assets having been seriously degraded over the past weeks, they will remain dedicated towards their ultimate goal of pursuing a nuclear bomb because they identify this objective as being integral with the survival of their regime, and no matter with whom they negotiate or what might be offered, this will remain the Iranian outlook.  He also reminds us that the goal of negotiations should be the material basis of the surrender of the Iranian regime, rather than simply the pursuit of an agreement.  Iran recognizes that the US wants the war to end, to end spikes in energy costs, and that US midterms are a short time from now, and they will utilize these facts to leverage the US towards negotiations which focus on achieving a deal, any deal, rather than imposing terms which require the surrender of the Iranian regime.  The distinction between these positions of the US and Iran are significant, so he has little expectation that negotiations will result in anything more than a pause in the war.
