The US has many options to confront the Iranian regime and its proxies in the Middle East, according to former US Army intelligence officer Michael Pregent.

A senior fellow at the Hudson Institute, Pregent published a map on Monday that shows the way the US can strike at Iran without needing to put any “boots on the ground” in Iran itself.

“I made this to counter the narratives of ‘war with Iran’” he says. In recent days, amid the rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, western media have argued that US President Donald Trump and his National Security Advisor John Bolton are rushing into a conflict with Iran. Rumors have swirled of plans to send 120,000 US forces to the Middle East.

Some of my international university students just returned from Ethiopia. The trip is optional for gap year students learning about the Jewish People There is a backstory to the Ethiopian Jews returning home to Zion that is more exciting and fraught with Israel’s good intentions and courageous deeds that continues decades later.

Their travel guide was one of my Ethiopian Jewish former students who is now a serial entrepreneur living back in Ethiopia. “It’s not like anything in any country I’ve seen before,” one young woman from South Africa tells our class in Middle East politics.

And the students joined Ethiopians still living there in prayer with tallis and tefillin. The women dress modestly. They eat kosher, observe the Shabbat, and study Jewish texts with visiting rabbis, she told the class. But controversy exists in Israel over whether these remaining practicing Jews have any claim to Jewish lineage. Yet, despite that, Israel is bringing them to Zion because nobody gets left behind.

The U.S. will release the first phase of its Middle East peace plan next month at a conference in Bahrain on the economic benefits that could flow from an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The plan envisions large-scale investment and infrastructure work in Palestinian-controlled areas territories. But the central political elements remain mostly unknown. And the economic workshop June 25-26 is not expected to tackle the major points of contention: Israel’s security, borders, and Jerusalem.

The White House announced the forum on Sunday, saying it will give government, civil and business leaders a chance to gather support for economic initiatives that could be possible with a peace agreement.

Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon addressed the Security Council on the Jewish People’s rights to the Land of Israel, reading from the bible and recounting 2,000 years of history to make his case.

On April 29, Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon, in an address to the UN Security Council, read from the bible and discussed 2,000 years of Jewish history to prove that the Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish People.

For example, Danon referred to the area of Judea (part of the socalled West Bank), reminding the audience that it was named for the largest of the 12 biblical tribes of Israel – Judah – and that the word “Jew” is derived from “Judah.”

Yesterday, The Washington Post tried to set the stage in prepping for elections, using the same tired old tactics of attacking “populists“, levying accusations about the rise in tide of populists who are supposedly shifting ‘reasonable’, right-of-center folk to the so-called ‘far right’, and blaming the latter for “cultural conflict” (instead of blaming jihadists and their Leftist enablers for eroding democracy bit by bit). Then there was the inescapable Leftist compulsion to malign Trump as WaPo did….

Americans tend to think that our politics are unique and that President Trump has caused all our political disruption. That’s not true. The same patterns of populism, cultural conflict and the movement of well-off and educated center-right voters away from their traditional party are happening around the globe. Australia, which holds its national elections …is a case in point.

President Trump threatened to destroy Iran in a tweet sent in the wake of reports that a rocket was fired into Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone less than a mile away from the US Embassy.

“If Iran wants to fight, that will be the official end of Iran. Never threaten the United States again!,” Trump tweeted Sunday afternoon.

It’s unclear exactly what promoted Trump’s posting, but news outlets reported explosions in Iraq’s capital and that a rocket launcher was discovered in eastern Baghdad, an area that is home to Iranian-backed Shiite militias.

In a surprise move, the UK government has refused “to adopt a working definition of ‘Islamophobia’ proposed by an all-party Parliamentary group (APPG). The definition, as put forward by the British Muslims APPG in December, determined that Islamophobia is rooted in racism and is a type of racism that targets expressions of Muslimness or perceived Muslimness”.

What pray tell does “Muslimness” even mean?  And why would anyone accept this loose term without demanding an adequate definition of it?

Forcing the term “Islamophobia” upon Western nations boils down to beating anyone up who criticizes Islam. Unsurprisingly, the Conservatives have “come under fire from Muslim groups and Labour MPs” for rejecting the “Islamophobia” definition.

Some 35,000 Palestinians who left the Gaza Strip via Egypt last year haven’t returned, according to Israeli estimates, most of whom were young, educated and comparatively well-off.

Their main motive for leaving was Gaza’s dire economic situation.

Among them were 150 doctors employed at Gazan hospitals. Fear that this brain drain would continue led the Strip’s Hamas government to bar physicians from leaving the territory.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) has said that it is ready to talk about the prospect of a confederation with Jordan, drawing fierce condemnation from the Kingdom.

The PA’s Ambassador to Moscow, Abdel-Hafeez Nofal, said that the PA is “ready to talk about a confederal union” with Jordan, Al-Resala newspaper reported yesterday.

Secretary General of the Jordanian Popular Unity Party, Said Thiyab, condemned Nofal’s remarks, saying: “The PA’s remarks about its readiness to talk about a confederation with Jordan undermines Palestinian rights in favour of passing the deal of the century,” referring to the long-awaited US peace plan slated to be released after Ramadan.

Despite the terrible errors of Israel’s leaders, Jewish destiny continually has thwarted each and every effort to cede any part of Judea and Samaria.

Back in the 1980s, I used to have a guy in my shul in Woodland Hills who was our point guy for Hagbah (raising the open Torah scroll after the reading).  We used him particularly during the early weeks of Breishit (when the scroll was top-heavy on the Deuteronomy side) and the final weeks of D’varim (when top-heavy on the Genesis side). When I would ask him, “Harry, it’s quite heavy this week — are you OK with it today?” he always would respond: “Don’t worry, Rabbi. This Torah ain’t goin’ anywhere I don’t want it to go.”

Perhaps the singularly dispositive outcome of Israel’s elections is that the nearly 800,000 Jews living in Judea and Samaria ain’t goin’ anywhere they don’t want to go. A review of comparatively recent Israel history points the way to Israel’s destiny. For decades, The dominant Israeli Left put its faith in the Ben-Gurions and Rabins, and the secular right (and too many Religious Zionists) put their unbridled faith in the Menachem Begins and Ariel Sharons.  But Jewish destiny never was in any of their hands.  At most, they advanced some aspects of that destiny by serving it dutifully or by simply staying out of the way.  On occasion, they interfered with the inevitable course of Israel’s destiny to reunite the Jewish heartland, Judea and Samaria, with its original November 1947 nine-mile wide shell.
