The fight against what Prime Minister Netanyahu has taken to calling Israel’s “deep state” is now in full swing. It reached a climax on Thursday, March 20, late in the evening, when the cabinet unanimously voted to dismiss Ronen Bar, the head of the Shin Bet—the country’s domestic security service. The termination is to take effect on the earlier of two dates: April 10, or when a replacement is found. Bar is not going down without a fight, however, and has retaliated by stepping up an investigation against the prime minister’s staff.

Peloni:  It will be difficult to raise to square the knot between the Muslim Brotherhood power in Turkey which is committed to the destruction of Israel coexisting with Israel.  Trump’s recent remarks declaring Israel needs to be reasonable still echo, it would seem that Turkey is being bolstered into a position of regional dominance with which it should not be trusted.  Notably, Erdogan’s lack of adhering to commitments which contrast with his own designs on power have recently been demonstrated with his illegal arrest of a domestic political rival.  Considering this, are we seriously to believe that this same regime will adhere to any commitment made in Baku?

Peloni:  The solution to the flow of arms to Lebanon resides not in preventing the arms arriving in Lebanon, but in preventing the arms from being sent from Iran.  Indeed, Iran’s influence in Lebanon, and its rearming of Hezbollah will persist so long as the Mullahs retain in power in Tehran.  Until such time as regime change in Tehran take place, Iran’s control over that nation will persist, and its arms will make their way to Hezbollah, one way or another.

An unnamed “Western security source” told Al Arabiya and its Al Hadath sister channel that Hezbollah is using the Port of Beirut to smuggle weapons into Lebanon from Iran. The source told Al Arabiya that Hezbollah “reasserted its control” over Beirut’s port—presumably after the group’s recent war with Israel and the November 27 Israel-Lebanon ceasefire—to facilitate transfers from Iran after Hezbollah lost its Syrian lifeline with the downfall of Bashar al Assad’s regime on December 8, 2024. Hezbollah is also adapting to Lebanon’s relatively tightened controls at Beirut’s Hariri International Airport.

The source said that Unit 190 and Unit 700 of the Quds Force, the external operations arm of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), were overseeing these weapons transfers to Hezbollah. The source said these units were smuggling weapons either via direct maritime channels between Iran and Lebanon or by using intermediate countries.

Peloni:  Rather than trying to avoid a constitutional crisis, the High Court created one.  Interceding in not only the govt’s ability to replace one of its most sensitive appointment, in its ruling the High Court presumes further authority to even dictate how the govt should perform as it requires that there should be no change in the conduct of the govt with regards to the Shin Bet Chief.   This is what a constitutional crisis looks like.

Peloni: Contrary to the notion that enemies of Iran are enemies of the US, the reality is that those who would advocate for the preservation and realization of a nuclear Iran are in fact, themselves, the greatest enemies of the US.  Carlson and his ilk must come to grips with the fact, and it is a fact, that Iran does not hate the US because of Israel, rather, they hate the US because the US irreconcilably represents everything Iran hopes to eradicate from the world. Ignoring this fact will not change the threat which Iran poses to the US, it will only serve to bring the destruction of the West as envisioned by Iran into reality. Sponsoring such an end such as this, rather than those who would oppose such an outcome, would actually represent the actions of a true enemy of the US.
