Peloni: The deep repulsion evident throughout this short statement is the tone which should be employed by all descent people when addressing or even discussing the barbaric Hamas. I congratulate President Trump on rising to the moment as the world failed to do so for 15 months.
Following a meeting with the former hostages recently freed from Hamas’ torture tunnels, President Trump issued the following statement:

Peloni: Europe is big on bravado but short of funds. Their economy is suffering from their self-imposed increase in energy which has led to the de-industrialization of Germany, which has always provided the lion’s share of Europe’s member state economies. The consequence of this is that Europeans are suffering, and the likelihood of Europeans spending large sums on defense are pretty small.

Ursula Von Der Leyen, the President of the European Commission has proposed that Europe increase its defense spending by 1.5% GDP over the average 2.0% GDP European countries are currently spending on defense. She fears that Europe has to defend itself and she understands that the United States probably will not act as a savior if Europe gets into trouble. President Trump’s administration is already signaling a big change in NATO. In future, according to reports circulating in Washington, NATO should be headed by either a British or French general (supposing Germany does not have any generals!). Over the years, the top NATO general always was an American. Washington wants to change that.

Peloni: The PA was created from a terrorist organization by a renowned terrorist. His successor was himself a terrorist, and remains so to this day, and doesn’t disguise this fact with his public patronage of terror on the streets of Israel and abroad, many of which are conducted by members of his own security forces. Moderate allies are not to be found in the ranks of terrorists, and if nothing else could be learned by the folly which followed Oslo, this surely should be clear by now. This was in fact one of the most beguiling aspects of the old conception, and it should not survive in any way or to take any part in the what comes to be the new conception.
Calculations based on body counts don’t tell the whole story as to whether terrorism is increasing or decreasing.

A prominent Washington think tank analyst has added up various terrorism statistics to “prove” that a Palestinian Arab state might not be such a bad idea after all. The problem is that his math is all wrong.
Writing in Mosaic this week, Robert Satloff of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy implores Israel not to give up on the Palestinian statehood idea. Because, he says, the math shows that having the Palestinian Authority around has reduced terrorism.
European elites are pushing for a war they are not prepared to fight against an enemy they cannot defeat without pushing the world to the edge of nuclear armageddon. At that point, all bets are off.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer closed out what amounted to a war summit in London Sunday by pledging more billions for missiles to Ukraine and committing to British “boots on the ground and planes in the sky.”
He called for a “coalition of the willing” to bolster his war effort against Russia. No longer satisfied to use Ukraine as a proxy, he now wants to sacrifice his own nation’s sons and daughters. If he and his evil twin in Paris can get their way, they will launch strikes against Russia, get their soldiers killed, then play the victim and hope this is enough to drag America into their self-provoked war with Russia. At that point, all bets are off and we launch recklessly into World War III.
Peloni: I disagree with the view that there is any relevance between Ukraine and Israel in their respective wars, but the disparity which exists in the support from those who would continue a war of boundaries such as is being fought in Ukraine as compared to the support for forcing Israel to capitulate in its war of annihilation speaks volumes of those who do so.
Even many who haven’t visited Israel – yet! – have been shaped by their Birthright buddies’ identity revelations.

As American Jews mourn the younger generation’s supposed alienation from Israel, many blame Bibi rather than their decisions to raise their kids on tikkun olam/social justice diets that Poisoned Ivy League Progressives distorted and turned against Israel.
“What do you expect?” many ask. “Jews born after 2000 have only known an Israel defined by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and right-wing, religious fanatics.”
Peloni: It will take real leadership in the West to prove Benz wrong. Today, America has such leadership in President Trump to resist the avarice and influence which began and maintains the Ukrainian war fever, but where is his like to be found in Europe? Where is his like to be found in the US? The paucity of competent leadership in the West is a tragic reality with tangible consquences, which will perpetuate the tragedy of Ukraine across Europe and into the future.

Peloni: The diversity of opinions held by the wider Druze community should be reflected upon as it contrasts with the alignment of Israel’s faithful and patriotic Druze community. There are no more patriotic supporters of Israel than can be found in Israel’s Druze community, so it should not be surprising that a similarly patriotic Syrian mentality persists among the Syrian Druze, even as they are now caught in a situation where their Alawite protectors in Syria have been replaced with a Jihadi in sheep clothing. Hence the pronouncement by the Syrian Druze that Israeli support would be the lessor of two evils. The implications of that sentiment, and the inner conflict to which it speaks, should be expected to persist among the Syrian Druze for at least some time.

Peloni: Zelensky burned a great deal of credibility with Trump for very little gain. As I noted before, doing so was a very big mistake, for him and Ukraine. The inartful choice of retreating thru a tweet rather than a via public statement or interview speaks to the fact that this needed doing quickly without the possibility of Zelensky putting a foot wrong after having failed to repair the situation thru many interviews. Hence, as Sundance explains below, no one should or likely does Trust Zelensky’s newly broached move towards championing peace.

I have been tracking the “process” – if I can call it that – that is following stage one of the “ceasefire deal.” And as has often been the case of late, I have delayed in writing because the situation has been so unclear and so fluid. I knew that by the time a posting went out, the situation would likely have shifted again.
But now it is time to write.

Peloni: The purpose of public commentary to advise institutional actions taken by such bureaucratic institutions as HHS is to offer public input into the implementation of policies which are almost uniquely designed by non-elected officials. Refusing to take the pulse of the people on such decisions presents a mindset based in elitism which should be seen to be quite distinct from the public face on which RFK Jr ran in this past election. Hopefully this radical endeavor to shield the HHS, of all institutions, from public feedback will be blocked.

Southern Syria’s Druze Community Seeks Security and Stability Through Israeli Support.
Israfan | March 4, 2025

In the heart of southern Syria, the Druze community faces a pivotal moment as regional dynamics shift dramatically. Amid the aftermath of President Bashar al-Assad’s fall, many Druze residents view Israel as a potential safeguard against emerging threats.
Peloni: The shift of US policy to end the Ukraine war has implications throughout the world, not least of all in Israel, as explained by Gen. Avivi. Notably, Ukraine’s attempts at defeating Russia are neither salvageable nor in America’s interest, and recognizing this fact solves many problems at once, not least of all is the freedom of Russia from its too tight connections with Iran and China. The US ending the war in Ukraine, however, should have no implications for Israel as US opposition to the Armeggedonist Iran achieving its nuclear ambitions should be understood to be an existential threat to Israel, the West, and the US, and the small window to prevent this eventuality gives Trump little opportunity to ignore the Iranian threat even if it was his desire to do so.
Peloni: I would argue that the use of foreign sanctions on Israeli citizens bears a significant threat against Israel’s national sovereignty no matter the motivation for doing so. The fact that the Leftists employed these tools of coercion and penalty against the Right using the abuse of power of the American Democrats should not lead us to believe that the Right should now employ these same tools against the Left under the power of the American Republicans. Instead, I would argue that the corruption which has subverted the conservative goals of national sovereignty and consent of the governed should be resolved by a domestic movement, rather than being forced upon the Israeli nation from abroad. Or so I would argue. What do others say on this topic?
