I 100% agree with @EliotACohen on this one, the recent operation against Hezbollah is a Strategic Win @TheAtlantic
"From a purely technical view, the rippling blasts of thousands of exploding pagers in the hands of Hezbollah represented an extraordinary piece of sabotage—one… pic.twitter.com/golze51mdY
Peloni: That is a pity. Sa’ar has stated his reasons are related to the escalation in the war, but maintains that he may still join the govt in some other capacity in the coming days. This unfortunately leaves Gallant in place as DM to continue the efforts of Washington to overrule what is in Israel’s best interest.

Peloni: This was a rare treat. Highly recommended. I would suggest watching the first 20 min at a minimum, but if time is allowed, the entire video is well worth watching as Natasha Hausdorff addresses the issues of the development and application of international law against Israel, the absurd steps taken against Israel in the ICJ & ICC, the outrageous actions exercised by the Chief Prosecutor of the ICC, why J&S are not Pal territory, the disappointing (understatement) of the BBC & the British govt, the role of UNWRA in October 7, why the British govt has such a hostile position with Israel, and do the hostility of the British govt and BBC reflect the public opinion at large of Israel.
Peloni: War is not what we want, but it is what we are left with. They want to wreak Jihad upon us every day of the week, and we must face what we have ignored for too long now, and finally deal with these barbarians as if they are barbarians, and to recognize that their only goal is to slaughter us because their only goal is to slaughter us. There can be no negotiation on these points, no toleration with their plans of future massacres against us. Whatever it takes, war is being waged upon our people and we must respond with a resolve which is indefatigable and a spirit which is both inspiring and perseverant.

Today we eliminated the number two of Hezbollah. We also eliminated most of the senior commanders of their Radwan Forces. And to top it all off, we also eliminated a senior commander of the Quds Force of the IRGC.
T.Belman I disagree with Doran. I can’t believe that he raised the possibility of enforcing 1701. Now that Israel has Hezbollah reeling, Israel should invade Lebanon and occupy it to the Litani R. But shouldn’t stop there. She should destroy Hezbollah and it arsenal of 150,000 smart missiles and rockets once and for all.
“Israel should make clear that if the international community will not implement 1701, then Israel will have no choice but to do so unilaterally, at a time and in a manner of its choosing.”
A few thoughts for the day. 1) Israel’s actions this week have set Hezbollah and Iran reeling. The blow that the “Resistance Axis” received was potentially a game changer.
2) However, Israel cannot rely on Washington to perform its traditional great power role of translating…

Anyone who believes that the Egyptians would act differently if and when Israel withdraws from the border area must be living on another planet. If the IDF leaves, Hamas will swiftly return to the border, and the Egyptians will continue looking the other way. “Before el-Sissi, but also during his tenure, cars, motorcycles, clothes, drugs, medicines, alcoholic beverages, and weapons were smuggled through the Philadelphi Corridor over the years, lots of weapons: improved RPG-29 rockets that killed our soldiers in the Iron Swords War, hidden rocket parts, machine guns, mines, and more.” — Nadav Shragai, Israeli author and journalist, Israel Hayom, July 10, 2024.
Israel’s war for its own survival against the terror group Hamas has expanded since last October 7 to include the Iran-backed Houthis in the Red Sea, Hizballah in Lebanon, and intensifying skirmishes in Judea and Samaria. As a second wave of hacked pager blasts, aimed at Hizballah, rocked Lebanon — killing at least 20 and injuring 450 – Israel has announced a “new phase” in war on the northern front.
Peloni: Gallant blew past his second chance and his third and his forth. He has consistently challenged Bibi since entering the govt, overstepping his authority, ignoring agreements made during coalition negotiations, and undermining authority of the govt to work the will of the people which delivered the Right its current majority. And all of this was well before October 7, following which Gallant has played the role of the American toady over and over again. Now that he is the last remaining American toady in the coalition, it is important for the Americans that Gallant remain as a stopgap measure between Bibi and the IDF, just as it is important that Bibi send him on his way, so mething which he should have done over a year ago when Gallant first showed his true colors to be Red, White and Blue.
“Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant recently apologized to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a bid to stave off his firing, Maariv reported on Thursday, citing conversations among the premier’s associates.
Peloni: This would have been far more interesting conversation if they had brought someone from the Left who wasn’t from JStreet, as they might just as well have brought Sinwar to the debate. Regardless of this, Nadia and Maurice are excellent.
Peloni: I have been waiting to hear this for four years. Georgia is the land of corruption, and it has been an inspiration to witness the turn of events on the election board of late. Perhaps it is too much to expect that this will not be overturned on appeal, as I noted, Georgia is the land of corruption.

The Georgia State Election Board voted Friday 3-2 to require all state counties to hand-count the number of ballots cast at polling places on Election Day.
All three board members who cast their vote in favor of the proposition were previously praised by former President Donald Trump back in August, according to The Associated Press. One Republican and Democrat voted against the measure.
French philosopher Bernard-Henri Lévy captures the essence of the Jewish people—and their innate and intense love for a tiny strip of land—in his latest book, in which he deconstructs the significance of Oct. 7.

“He’s not supposed to fight back, he’s supposed to have thick skin/He’s supposed to lay down and die when his door is kicked in.” So sang Bob Dylan on his buoyant 1983 album track “Neighborhood Bully,” the title of which is an ironic take on how much of the world views the State of Israel and the nation—as Dylan observed, “always on trial, just for being born”—that built it.
Israel Alone. Just as Dylan conveys Israel’s grit in fighting back despite its stark isolation and its transformation by its enemies from victim into predator, Lévy’s book, sparked by the Hamas pogrom on Oct. 7 last year, communicates much the same spirit.
