Before 10/7 Hezbollah Expected to be Able to Break Through All the Defense Lines

Peloni:  This is disturbing revelation.

Avishai Greenzeig | X | May 20, 2024

Exactly one month before the seventh of October, a study day was held at the Northern Command, which dealt with preparation for the next war. This morning we revealed that the commander of the 300 Brigade estimated on the day of the study that if Hezbollah launches an attack – it will succeed in breaking through all the defense lines and take control of bases and settlements, because the forces in the sector will not have the ability to stop the attack.

Biden Sends Condolences to Murderer of Americans

Peloni:  As the US should be reinforcing its alliance with Israel and the people of Iran, it is doing the opposite by demonstrating is vision of pivoting toward the anihilistic Mullahs who have both attacked Israel and subjugated the Iranian people.  This should disgust any fair mineded individual, as it is a betrayal of America’s true allies in favor for America’s true enemy.

“Butcher of Tehran” killed US soldiers and civilians, targeted government officials

Daniel Greenfield | Front Page Magazine | May 20, 2024

Iran’s murder of Sgt. William Rivers, Spc. Kennedy Sanders, and Spc. Breonna Moffett, three black servicemembers from Georgia, earlier this year was only the latest killing of Americans by the Islamic terrorist regime in Tehran in addition to the dozens already killed on Oct 7.

Iran had not only connived to murder an estimated one thousand American soldiers on the battlefield, but its assassins and agents had plotted to kill members of the Trump administration.

Once glitzy and very public, Abraham Accords unfolding more quietly after Oct. 7

“Israel, as a state, has been focused on maintaining more strategic ties,” said Asher Fredman, Israel director at the Abraham Accords Peace Institute.

Mike Wagenheim | JNS | May 20, 2024

Even though the COVID-19 pandemic was still limiting public events, the Abraham Accords began in the summer of 2020 with pomp and circumstance. The first few years of normalization between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kosovo, Sudan and Morocco under the accords were punctuated by glitzy conferences, ceremonies marking milestones and press releases about new initiatives.

Four pings on the Gaza war as climax in Rafah nears

Things aren’t going Biden Team’s way.

J.E. Dyer | The Optimistic Conservative | May 20,2024

These pings will be short.  Basically, I’m doing little more than teeing up posts on X/Twitter from the last week.  As each day gives hindsight on the day before, we see the signal of what’s going on emerge more clearly from the background noise, and find both concern and hope renewed.

The last comprehensive(-ish) summary is this one, from 9 May 2024.

Gantz’s Impractical And Dangerous Ultimatum to Netanyahu

T. Belman. On Dec 29/23 I wrote Israel is in a strong position, not a weak one.. I urge you to read it again.

Glick argues that the current government will not fall because the left will not be able to muster 61 votes. Particularly since Liberman announced that he won’t serve in a new government with any Arab Party. On May 16/24, Channel 14 published a poll that showed the current government plus Liberman  rising to 65 seats. Netanyahu should not delay in firing Gallant and offering Liberman the the role of Def Minister. The rift must be healed.

The Jordan – Israel Relationship

E. Rowell:  In this video, Mudar Zahran explains that there is a need on the part of Israeli Jews and Palestinians to find a peaceful solution to the problems that have persisted and been enflamed over the years.  He has (and in a way IS) a just and lasting solution for both sides.  He presents the historical context and the current reality on the ground in Jordan and in Israel.  He does so respectfully, with grace and humor.

Complicated business!

By TIERNEY’S REAL NEWS    19 May 2024

Who are the lawyers leading the fake cases against President Trump? I’ve read all this stuff before but never put the pieces together. It’s complicated and messy. I decided to do that today – for you and me. I think we need to know who the players are, what motivates them and what they have planned for 2024 – if we intend to stop it.

Likud MK: Bring Sa’ar and Liberman into the coalition

T. Belman. Time to heal the rift in the right. Liberman served under Netanyahu as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2009 to 2012 and 2013 to 2015 and as Minister of Defense from 2016 to 2018. Gideon Saar also held ministerial posts in previous Netanyahu governments.

Liberman should replace Gallant as Def Minister.  Saar could also be given a serious portfolio.

MK Hanoch Milwidsky of the Likud criticizes Minister Benny Gantz and says that he is concerned with politics instead of security.

Israel National News

Hanoch MilwidskyIsrael National News

MK Hanoch Milwidsky (Likud) criticized Minister Benny Gantz, following his speech on Saturday night in which he set an ultimatum for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, warning his party would leave the coalition if Netanyahu does not formulate a strategic plan for the war by June 8.

Speaking to Radio Kol Chai on Sunday, Milwidsky said, “Apart from politics, I don’t understand what Gantz is doing. They didn’t vote with the government on anything. They attack the coalition at every opportunity.”

Campus Chaos Is the Deep State’s Fault

E. Rowell:  This is yet another project of the Deep State effort to destroy American institutions, sow chaos, and make Americans feel that there is a huge tide of Marxism, Islamic terror, and Jew hatred which has overtaken the land, when it is a small group of people making a lot of noise.  Even though they are in reality a small group, that they had so much support from University administrators shows the degree of real damage done to university education in America.

Protesters’ apocalyptic behavior is a reaction to higher ed’s subsumption into the establishment.

By Matt Wolfson, AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE    18 May 2024

As the most dramatic campus protests since those against a national draft more than 50 years ago wind down, lucid, prescient voices have pinpointed their specific causes in ways that can shift policy for the better. These plausible policy shifts range from a more careful hand with immigration at home to a change in America’s approach to Israel abroad to sustained government pressure on institutionally-backed “wokeness.” But, along with specific causes, there’s a possible deeper reason for these protests that deserves consideration, one with a less controllable effect: higher education’s proximity to government power, and that proximity’s effect on students.

Former Vice Prime Minister Addresses Chief of Staff Halevi

Your beautiful words about responsibility are void of content.

Haim Ramon | X | May 15. 2024

Haim Ramon, Former Vice PM

In a speech he delivered at the state ceremony to open the events of Remembrance Day at the Western Wall, Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi said that he bears responsibility for the fact that the IDF failed in its mission to protect the citizens of the State of Israel on October 7.

I assume that no one disputes that the Chief of Staff bears responsibility for the October 7 failure, but Halevi did not point out that he was also primarily responsible for the failed management of the “Iron Swords” war.

Raisi’s death doesn’t change Iranian policy, but will spark fight for power

Peloni:  See also The Butcher of Tehran: the rise of Ebrahim Raisi for a full history of Raisi rise to power and the slaughers which he oversaw and instituted over the years.

Iran confirmed Monday morning that President Ebrahim Raisi, as well as Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, were dead following a helicopter crash the previous day.

Though the deaths of two senior Iranian officials are a dramatic development at a time when multiple conflicts are raging in the region, it likely will not affect the course of those fights significantly, with decisions over foreign policy and war under the purview of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

The Deep State and Globalism

By Anthony J. DeBlasi | American Thinker | May 19, 2024

Theodore Roosevelt spoke of an invisible government in his presidency (1901-1909). He was alluding to a hidden power behind the visible government that today is referred to as “the deep state.” It is the unofficial target of blame for action against the will of the people. A finger pointed at it in the last century that signaled a change to America that would end its freedom and independence. The following touches on that “dot” among the many that help explain the drive toward a “new world order.

Billionaires Funding Protests Donate Millions To House Dems

by Susan Crabtree via RealClearPolitics.com,

For President Biden and congressional Democrats, the fierce party division over the campus protests and the war in Gaza is full of warning signs during the 2024 election year. The unrest is unlikely to stop when universities break for the summer; protesters are pledging to disrupt the August Democratic National Convention planned to be held in Chicago.

Most House Democrats have been reticent on the antisemitic protests and encampments roiling college graduations this month, while a handful have vocally defended or even celebrated the student protests as displays of protected free speech.

“A determined liar”: Minister Shikli closes accounts with the former prime minister

Peloni:  Chikili’s tweet is actually far more effective than this article in articulating his outrage at Bennett for expressing regret to only having made promises which he later broke and for which he has tried repeatedly to marginalize both the scope and consequence of having done so.

Minister Shikli attacked former Prime Minister Bennett. “Naftali Bennett, you said this morning that you broke an election promise and made a mistake in choosing people. Shamelessly, when you build on mostly forgetting, you continue to lie with a determined face,” Shikli wrote

Maariv Online | May 19, 2024

Diaspora Minister Amichai Shikli published a tweet this evening ( Sunday ) on the social network x (formerly Twitter) in which he attacked former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett . “Naftali Bennett, you said this morning that you broke your election promise and made a mistake in choosing people. Shamelessly, when you build on mostly forgetting, you continue to lie with a determined face,” Shikli wrote.

Smotrich: If Hezbollah doesn’t withdraw, IDF must take southern Lebanon

After Gantz’s ultimatum to Netanyahu, far-right leader issues his own demands to PM, including for military to establish a ‘permanent presence in the entire Gaza Strip’

Israel should not shy away from launching a military takeover of southern Lebanon if Hezbollah does not withdraw from the border, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich declared Sunday, becoming the latest minister to publicly challenge Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the handling of the conflict on Israel’s northern and southern borders.

Speaking at a faction meeting of his far-right Religious Zionism party held, unusually, in northern Israel, Smotrich demanded that Netanyahu make a clear announcement of a plan to deal with the Iran-backed terror group, saying that if necessary, Hezbollah must be dealt with through military action.

Egypt Blocks Aid to Gaza, the Media Blames Israel

By Hugh Fitzgerald, JIHAD WATCH    18 May 2024

Rafah crossing closed

Israel took over the Rafah Crossing between Gaza and Egypt last week, in order to make sure that Hamas could not smuggle in weapons through that route, and also to ensure that Hamas would not hijack aid shipments just after they came into Gaza. The Egyptians, however, displeased at the IDF’s move, decided to retaliate by preventing aid trucks from moving through the Rafah Crossing into Gaza altogether. What’s more, they rejected Israel’s request to let those aid trucks enter Gaza through the Kerem Shalom Crossing further north. More on this move that will only harm Gazans, and for which Egypt alone is responsible — but for which Israel is being blamed — can be found here: “Palestinian ‘strategist’ praises Egypt for blocking aid to Gaza,” Elder of Ziyon, May 14, 2024:
