I wonder if Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader in the Gaza Strip, is sitting in a tunnel under Rafah gazing at that image and if it’s brought a smile to his lips.

Instead of condolences, Israel reaped a global orgy of antisemitism, be it masked or overt, that also engulfed Jews everywhere, especially university students (demonstrating that higher education is no antidote for frenzy). It was a perfect reversal of cause and effect.

Less than half a year after its debut at the Paris Air Show, the Israeli Air Force’s new intelligence aircraft became operational in the midst of the war. The Ministry of Defense capitalized on the conflict to expedite the operational assimilation process, typically lasting months, to mere days. At the conclusion, the Air Force declared the Oron aircraft fully operational.

Ynet and “Yedioth Ahronoth” have learned that the new and advanced intelligence aircraft, of which only major powers possess similar models, has already logged hundreds of operational flight hours in various theaters in recent weeks, totaling close to 100 missions. In each sortie from the Nahshon squadron (122), the American-manufactured aircraft can execute numerous intelligence missions simultaneously.

Peloni:  Mike and Gadi discuss, among other things, the fallout of the US abandoning Israel at the UN, in which they both agree that Israel is facing a dire threat to its survival.  Mike believes that Bibi is likely to lose his govt as a result while Gadi believes that Israel should lose no time in moving into Rafah.  Another point raised in this conversation is that Mike refernces a discussion with anti-Biden forces in the US in which he senses the propaganda campaign being waged by the US against Israel is gaining traction even among those who oppose the current administration.

Donald Trump installed a new chairman of the Republican Party this month, he explained privately and publicly what he wanted from the GOP: a bigger focus on election-related lawsuits, a more aggressive operation to monitor voting and a vow to make “election integrity” the party’s No. 1 priority.

The party is now striking a more aggressive tone as it recruits poll observers to keep an eye on in-person voting and boasts of positioning thousands of lawyers to challenge ballots and bring lawsuits. The Israel Defense Forces conducted an operation at al-Shifa hospital in the Gaza Strip to root out Hamas terrorists recently, once again taking unique precautions as it entered the facility to protect the innocent; Israeli media reported that doctors accompanied the forces to help Palestinian patients if needed. They were also reported to be carrying food, water and medical supplies for the civilians inside.

Peloni:  Israel has every need to regain its complete independence from the US to demonstrate its sovereign duty to defend its citizens without needing to secure American permission to do so.  Hence, Israel must own up to the fact that she is a wealthy nation, capable of carrying the heavy burden of its military needs on the back of its own economy and thereby sever the strings of servitude which are tied to the ‘aid’ which Israel receives from the US.  By doing so, Israel will be able to build her military to meet the needs of her own threat assessment rather than choosing from the list of American products which are prescribed for her by foreigners serving foreign interests rather than those of Israel, herself.

The order for the additional F-35 squadron should be cancelled. The planes are not suitable for the threat scene. They deepen dependence on a foreign power, are a burden on the economy and divert funds from much more essential systems and needs.

The louder the cry, the more clearly you hit. The story of the F-35 is a complex story. Defense Minister at the time Bogi Ya’alon opposed the purchase of the weapon and wanted to purchase instead advanced F-15 and F-16 aircraft that were more suited to Israel’s needs.
