When I was resident in northern Iraq in the summer of 2019, an Iranian acquaintance told me that in understanding the regional strategy of his country, I should bear in mind that while “other nations will kill you with iron, the Iranians will kill you with cotton.” The phrase stayed with me. I later learned that it is a famous Persian expression. In the context in which we discussed it, my friend wanted me to grasp the subtle, patient and slow moving nature of Iranian strategy in the Middle East. He also wanted me not to confuse patience with an absence of lethal seriousness of purpose.

The U.S. government is intensifying a manhunt for an Iranian intelligence operative who the Federal Bureau of Investigation believes has been plotting to assassinate current and former American officials, including one-time Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
The FBI’s Miami field office on Friday issued a public alert seeking information on Majid Dastjani Farahani, a suspected member of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security, who the Bureau alleged has been recruiting “individuals for operations in the U.S., to include lethal targeting of current/former USG officials.”

IN HIS address to the nation on Friday, Rishi Sunak said: ‘Islamist extremists and the far right feed off and embolden each other.’ This casual reference to ‘far-right extremists’ is made again and again, almost always as some sort of leavening to placate all those people worried about right-wing extremists who, so the narrative runs, are lurking in the shadows, ready to revisit the horrors of The Third Reich upon us. As is well known, the Gaza Strip is riddled with a vast complex of underground facilities, tunnels, bunkers, command centres and more. Many, if not most of these are interconnected as a complex network; some have rail lines, electricity and sewage facilities. The network consists of between 500 – 800 kilometres of tunnels, with thousands of peers (access points) from within virtually every United Nations / UNWRA facility, schools, clinics, kindergartens and in some areas, virtually every home.

The time has come for us to finally take them seriously and simply believe them, that they fully intend to do what they say. T.Belman. The Jordan Option provides that Israel will be the sovereign from the river to the sea. In adition, It is also a two state solution. Jordan will be renamed Palestine and the Jordan River will be the border between the two states as it is now.
Netanyahu agrees with this when he says Israel ‘s military will remain in control. That makes us the sovereign.
Annexation of both Gaza and the Territories will provide us with a secure homeland from the river to the sea; the sooner we embrace this concept, the sooner our future, with G-D’s help, will be assured. Op-ed.

After Biden came home from his Caribbean vacation, the Deputy Defense Secretary came back from hers and the Secretary of Defense was on the verge of being released from the hospital, airstrikes were finally authorized against the Houthi Jihadis attacking ships in the Red Sea.
Biden said that the air strikes sent “a clear message that the United States and our partners will not tolerate attacks on our personnel or allow hostile actors to imperil freedom of navigation in one of the world’s most critical commercial routes.”

Among other things, Gantz told National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan that “ending the war without clearing out Rafah is like sending a firefighter to extinguish 80% of the fire,” Israel Hayom reported.
Peloni: The result of the leaked proposal will be nothing more than a more egregious replay of the failed Gas Deal which the US forced Israel to accept to no benefit under the lame duck premiership of Lapid. The need to not repeat such a pursuit of failure is made even greater in wake of the Simchat Torah Massacre. The only settlement possible must result in Hezbollah complying with UNSC Res. 1701 and 1559. The Chamberlain-esque efforts to advance the interests of Hezbollah over Israel must be utterly rejected.
A ceasefire should not become an end in itself. The goal needs to be the security of civilians on both sides of the border. That is not what the leaked proposed agreement provides.

According to a report broadcast several days ago on Israel’s Channel 11, various Lebanese media reports carried new details of the plan being promoted by US envoy Amos Hochstein. The plan contains a ceasefire framework for Israel and Lebanon.
Hochstein is the US Special Presidential Coordinator for Global Infrastructure and Energy Security, and he has been conducting shuttle diplomacy between Israel and Lebanon in an effort to broker a ceasefire.

Hamas terrorists. As Israel prepares to enter Hamas’s final stronghold, Rafah, the United States should ensure Israel has as much time as it needs to fully defeat Hamas.
Fighting terrorists who wear no uniform in urban terrain is complicated—as one of us learned during deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, battlefields that, however terrible, were simpler than Gaza. Operating in such a complex environment takes time, particularly for a military as dedicated to protecting civilians as the IDF.

Is this how you end a war?
On Saturday, The Times of Israel reported U.S. forces made the first airdrop of supplies over the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip — roughly 38,000 meals for the people in the place that elected the terrorist organization that launched the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks.
U.S. Central Command said it and the Jordanian Air Force “conducted a combined humanitarian assistance airdrop into Gaza … to provide essential relief to civilians affected by the ongoing conflict.”
