If a person steals 100 shekels from a store, it is fitting justice that his crime be reversed and he restore to the store the 100 shekels stolen plus further damages. If a person wrongfully breaks a person’s window, he should be required to reverse his wrong by paying for the window’s repair. And if he enters a country illegally, he should be required to reverse his wrong and leave. If he does not leave, he should be expelled forcibly. If he is from Eritrea, it does not matter whether he supports Dictator Isaia Afwerki, wears red, and celebrates the thirtieth anniversary of his “election” or whether he opposes Afwerki and wears blue. Both sides are in Israel illegally. They must go.

T. Belman. This is huge news if it proves to be true. I have been under the impression the the US wants to get the best deal possible for  the Palestinians and to secure the prospect of a TSS. The Saudis and the Israelis do not care about the Palestinians or the prospect of a TSS.

The seventh annual report on ultra-Orthodox society in Israel found that in 2021 78% of ultra-Orthodox women and 51% of the men participate in the workforce; preliminary reports show a slight improvement in the first three quarters of 2022 – 80% and 53% respectively. In addition 44% of the ultra-Orthodox in Israel live in poverty

The survey presents recent trends in ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) society in a range of areas, including standard of living, education, employment, social mobility, leisure, and lifestyles.

T. Belman. I totally disagree. First a deal should not be approved sight unseen. Secondly, there is no urgency.  It can wait a few more months until Trump’s second term.

Furthermore, Biden is heavily advocating for the PA and the two state solution. That has to affect the deal.

United Torah Judaism chairman and Construction Minister Yitzhak Goldknopf stated this evening (Wednesday) that if the Draft Law is not passed during the Knesset’s winter session, the government’s planned judicial reforms would not be allowed to pass and the government may even collapse.

The Draft Law would enshrine in law the exemptions from military service that haredi yeshiva students receive. The latest version of the bill would also lower the age of exemption so that haredi men could enter the workforce at a younger age.

The Israel Innovation Authority’s 2023 annual report shows that in recent decades, the hi-tech industry has become the engine that pulls the Israeli economy, in which it is the industry with the largest and fastest-growing output. The report also shows that between 2012 and 2023, the average growth rate of the number of employees in the hi-tech industry was three times the general rate in the economy (6.3% and 2.2% respectively). Moreover, the sector’s contribution to GDP was over 18%, having doubled within a decade to 290 billion shekels ($76.5 billion) in 2022.

T. Belman. Once again Singer and INN mislead. Abbas, Abdullah and al Sisi didn’t even mention the HKOPS. In fact they have never even acknowledged it.

Their joint statement confirms that the Jordan Option is the only game in town. The JO asserts that Abdullah must abdicate, willingly or otherwise, for there to be peace.

The conflict and carnage will continue unabated until the UN recognizes HKOPS and resolves to attempt to implement it.

Religious Affairs Minister Michael Malkieli (Shas) spoke on Tuesday about the Draft Law, saying that the coalition is not intending to advance a blanket exemption for the haredi population.

In an interview with Behadrey Haredim, Malkieli said, “We are partners in the coalition, and we have needs. The Likud signed agreements with us, and they know exactly what is important to each party. The issue of the Draft Law is something which is dear to the hearts of haredi Jewry. We have made a commitment to the Torah learners and we intend to fulfill our obligation.”
