So far, documented COVID-19 variants are in the U.K., Brazil, South Africa, and Northern California, and I am sure there are others in India and China. So COVID-19 is behaving much like the flu with mutations to new forms going on all the time.
Influenza or flu types A and B cause yearly epidemics, and there are over 60 kinds of known flu viruses. Type A and B undergo seasonal changes almost every year. To vaccinate yourself against the flu every year is a waste of time for most since there are just too many mutations, which change every year, and the flu is not deadly for most.

If Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fails to form a government by the end of his allotted mandate period, the so-called change bloc of opposition parties will seek to persuade President Reuven Rivlin to give the mandate to Yamina leader Naftali Bennett, Channel 13 reported on Friday.Sources in the bloc, who have vowed not to join forces with Netanyahu, told the network they feared that if Rivlin does not give the opposition a chance and sends the mandate back to the Knesset, it will become impossible to reach a consensus.

The Arizona Senate, which is controlled by Republicans, is ready to start a major audit of 2.1 million ballots for the 2020 presidential election, with the recount will be done by hand this time.
The state Senate said in March they would be conducting a “broad and detailed” audit, adding that they will test voting machines, scan ballots, look for IT breaches, and perform a hand count.

Jewish Israelis for the most part, say their country must be Jewish and democratic, but disagree on what such a country should look like.
A recent study published for Independence Day reveals significant differences in opinion over the country’s identity today and the aspirations for its future.
Nearly all Jewish Israelis (98%) say they want the country to have a Jewish identity and most (88%) think a Jewish majority is the key to maintaining it. Most also agree that Jewish culture should be advanced, and that Israel has the responsibility for the Jews in the Diaspora.

Back in 2012, the cabinet voted to construct a railway line to Eilat that would provide passenger and freight service. But subsequent studies showed that the project isn’t economically feasible and it seems that it’s been shelved.
But this week, the railway started looking like a good idea. A giant cargo vessel wedged between two banks of the Suez Canal brought traffic there to a standstill for close to a week, threatening to disrupt the global supply chain.

Russia continues to build up troops and flex its muscles on the borders with Ukraine. Despite harsh fear-mongering rhetoric in the global mainstream media, US officials seem to be quite aware that any Russian invasion of its neighbor, at least at this point, seems very improbable.

When I was young, Americans prided themselves in being part of the “great melting pot” — good times. People from diverse cultures throughout the world could come here and become full-fledged Americans. Our constitution provided a framework for anyone to become successful. All that was required was determination and hard work. In achieving the American dream, our forefathers shed their ancestral heritages and became enthusiastic Americans — and that was something to be proud of. But we don’t melt anymore. Now we categorize. I blame it on the diversity movement.
