By the way–I believe that Benedict Arnold was not a traitor but an American patriot whom Washington groomed to be a false defector. Someone who claimed to be a traitor and defector while secretly sending Washington invaluable intelligence about what the British were up to. Washington groomed numerous American soldiers to act as double agents behind British lines, who sent him valuable intelligence about British operations, the location of British forces, while pretending to have deserted to the British. Washington was most successful as a spymaster rather than as a commander in the field. In that part of his job he made many mistakes, although his generalship did gradually improve throughout the war.
