Min Rothman debunks the smear campaign aimed at delegitimizing the government

Simcha Rothman tweeted in Hebrew:

This fake story, and more than that the enthusiasm and trust in it received by the media which of course rushed to publish it, are a sad parable of the ease with which the leadership of the “protest” hijacked the public consciousness, into a world of cynical lies that stems from a lack of agreement to accept the election decision. Put it into people’s heads here that the government has decided to do a “coup” that will turn the country we all love as it is, into a totalitarian and non-democratic halachic state, into a backward third world country, into a country in economic, political, security, and moral collapse.

None of this is true. It’s all false fears and the result of a campaign of intimidation that is astonishing in its lack of red lines, the recipient of enthusiastic cooperation from the media.

Is it any wonder that this stupid professor’s ridiculous story (Boaz Arad) makes sense? We are under the pressure of mind engineering and must stand up to it. Establish for all of us as an axiom that democracy must embrace progressive and post-national values. If the voter prefers conservative and nationalist values, such as Zionism being a guiding value in the government’s decisions, his preference is not legitimate. And if it is not legitimate, it must be blocked, for example through the imposition of the policy by an unelected judicial authority, through the freedom to interpret the laws according to their values and not according to the written law. And the obligation to block justifies an open effort, at any cost, to collapse the economy, drive away investments and push for an organized rebellion within the army.

Israel has a national character that is indeed national and connected to tradition, but also liberal, tolerant, free. It’s not for nothing that Amir Ohana is in the center of power and Avi Maoz is on the fringes. National character is not something that is so easy to change, not even for Smotrich and Ben Gvir. And it won’t change either. We need to remember that since, as mentioned, these are false scares, time works in our favor because it will show that none of their scares will happen. You just have to stand. Breathe deeply, maintain composure and conversation culture, remain friends with our friends from the frightened side, and remind them again and again that these are false fears. If the country does become what they fear it will become, we too will fight together with them to return it to what it was. And above all to remember and remind that, contrary to what the creators of the world of lies want, what we, the general public on both sides, need, is not a decision but a compromise. seek the agreement until we find it. not complicated. The real differences are not really big
