She’s right. The plan against Jews has been and is massive. Even conservatives close their eyes to some of it to avoid being overwhelmed. Honestly, I do too.
When I was in Israel some 20 years ago I was surprised to see how calm everyone was, as if on an emotional level there never had been a war and will not be one – even though it was clear intellectually as opposed to emotionally that war against us was a constant.
So what to do with this tendency to lull oneself, even as a nation? I will not tell Israelis what to do, but I suggest they consider the self lulling tendency, and try to correct it. For example, it is only now becoming clearer to many in Israel from what I understand that the last war was just a pause, with new dangers afoot.
