I always liked Patrick Dempsey as an actor (Grey’s Anatomy, etc.) and appreciated his taking on this moving and passionate role as this important Hebrew Prophet of doom, but yet of Israel’s redemption and Messianic hope as well.
Jeremiah lived in the crossover period during the 6th and 7th century B.C.E. during the reign of Judah’s (Greek: Iudaea/Judaea) King Josiah and successors, and witnessed his Judaean people’s tragic division in the centuries after the death of King David, who united the twelve tribes of Israel (named for the sons of the Patriarch, Jacob, who was renamed Israel after becoming his morally better self after struggling with the Angel of the Lord {in a dream?} in Penuel in Judaea (aka “West Bank” as of 20th century C.E.).
After David’s son, King Solomon, died, about 900 C.E., horrible divisions and rivalries erupted between the Hebrews themselves, some seeking alliances with hostile pagan regional powers at the others’s expense, especially Egypt and Babylon.
By the time Jeremiah was born, too many Hebrews relapsed into immoral pagan ways of their neighbors, despite periods of religious resurgence under the leadership of some respected prophets and other righteous rulers.
The kings of the 10 northern tribes.of Israel, which was soon conquered by the mighty Assyrian Empire, tended to be evil and disloyal to the G_ d of their Patriarchs and Matriarchs, but the southern kingdom of Judah and Benjamin had a number of notably righteous kings—Asa, Hezekiah, Azariah, Josiah, etc.and Prophets, of which Jeremiah was one.
The population of the ten northern tribes were mostly taken into captivity in Assyria, and were assimilated into that culture or spread elsewhere in many directions, i.e., the “10 Lost Tribes of israel.”
Some remained in the former Israelite kingdom and assimilated with its invading Arab imperial colonizing, settling, alien conquerors from the 7th century C.E. onwards. Indeed, there are “Palestinian” Arabs today who claim to be descended from these Israelite Hebrews…
Caught between aggressive pagan empires’s various ambitions over the millennia, it was indeed difficult for the 4,000 year ancestral homeland of the Jewish (Judaean) People to maintain its independence and important, unique religious beliefs and ethical traditions.
This led to frequent internal divisions in Jewish/Judaean society as well since the ways of various pagan societies were often very tempting, especially those associated with the Hellenism of Greek conquerors. The events resulting in the holiday of Chanukah arose due to this, for example.
Jeremiah spoke to this devastating problem on the eve of the Babylonian Captivity in the 6th century B.C.E., and others would do likewise after the miraculous return of many Judaeans to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem later after an amazing human ruler, Shah Cyrus the Great of Persia, conquered the Babylonian Empire and freed the Judaean Captives. Jeremiah was tortured, abused, and treated horribly by some of his own people and kings, and foresaw and warned of the tragedy which would soon befall Jerusalem and Judah.
Yet, he also gave his people hope of redemption if they would sincerely return to G_d—and display this in how they conducted their everyday lives.
Persia’s Cyrus (Kurash) the Great wrote of this Babylonian captivity himself, and it was discovered in the cuneiform Kurash Prism/“Cyrus Cylinder” in the 19 century C.E. It was displayed at the Smithsonian Institute some years ago, and is permanently located in the British Museum…

With the much wounded, genocidal puppet master which previously Arabized and Islamistized Iran has unfortunately become once again restocking its ballistic missile arsenal, this time reportedly with poisonous gas and other toxic chemical warheads, courtesy of North Korean, Chinese, and Russian allies, and rebuilding air defense systems and restarting its nuclear program as well, Jeremiah’s people, once again, face the prospect of non-stop aggression and war from a vast array of Aryan, Arab, and other Muslim enemies which surround them as when Jeremiah also sounded out his warnings and prophecies. Israel’s foes openly state that its total obliteration is their goal.
Add to the above that Hamas and other Arab butchers—instead of being disarmed, as President Trump promised when he forced Israel to accept a worthless hudna ceasefire and give up its hard earned momentum in the two year urban war it was forced to fight after the equivalent of 40,000 American civilians were brutally slaughtered on Simchat Torah, October 7th, 2023—are still very much alive, well, restocking arms, retaking formerly lost territory, once again hijacking trucks filled with aid meant for Gaza’s civilians, and gaining even more support from millions of know nothing kafir Infidel useful idiots around the world who accept Arab taqiyyah and kitman obfuscation and lies as truth, vilifying Jeremiah’s people for defending themselves against enemies who specialize in committing atrocities and then running away to hide behind their own women and children, using them repeatedly as human shields, purposely embedding themselves within the civilian population—a double war crime according to the Geneva Conventions on War.
A pessimist would say that Jeremiah’s Judah—Israel Reborn—has nothing but doom in its future. The situation indeed looks very worrisome.
The Jewish People have always been “unpopular,” to say the least. They are, for too many in the realm of Christendom’s, eternal wanderers because of their alleged “deicide,” poisoners of wells, perfidious in nature, and in the words of the early Church Father, Saint John Chrysostom’s homilies, “fit for nothing but slaughter.”
And as “kilab yahud” (Jew dog) sons of apes and pigs and killers of prophets, are regarded likewise in Arabism’s Islam.
In the post-Auschwitz world, ancient historic hatreds once reserved for individual Jews and their forcibly ghettoized communities, simply got transferred to the risen and Phoenix of Israel Reborn—constantly being subjected to unfair double standards which no other people nor country are subjected to or judged by.

But Jeremiah was also a major Prophet of Judah/modern Israel’s redemption, given a return of his People to righteous living and devotion to G-d.
This doesn’t translate into Israel simply caving in to everything its bloodlust filled enemies have in store for it, nor cow-towing to all the grotesquely unfair demands of its alleged friends as well.
No sovereignty for Judah’s Jeremiah’s Judaean People anywhere at all in millennial ancestral Judaean lands in Judaea and Samaria, but sovereignty for America on Puerto Rico, Guam, in Samoa, U. S. Virgin and Northern Mariana Islands, etc.—thousands of miles away from Washington?
Yet this is what President Trump and his VP Vance unbelievably demand, due to their love affair with black African and other slave holding Gulf Arab autocratic trillionaire petro-potentates, like Qatar and Saudi Arabia, who pour billions of dollars into American and other schools to poison minds against Israel and support and give sanctuary to Hamas masterminds as well.
No Israeli sovereignty at all in Judaea and Samaria, but French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Guiana, Guadalupe, Martinique, and so forth…?
Britain’s Falkland Islands over 8,000 miles away from London, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Gibraltar, etc…?
And for some real nauseating irony, while a hypocritical France demands a 9-15 mile wide Israel make suicidal concessions so Arabs can obtain their 22nd state and second in the original 1920 Mandate of Palestine (Jordan created in 1922 by a gift of almost 80% of total area), check out to whom France itself is the real ancestral homeland of below, and ask if these people will ever gain any sovereignty in their own aboriginal homeland…
And finally, on a positive note given all that has transpired…
“Hear the word of the Lord…He who scattered Israel will gather them, and watch over his flock like a shepherd…and they will come and shout for joy from the heights of Zion and know sorrow no more…” (Jeremiah 31: 10-12).
Like all other nations of imperfect humans, may Israel soon know and be worthy of this prophecy.
