Tucker Carlson is now claiming Trump’s CIA is going to refer him to the DOJ for charges of FARA (Foreign Agent Registration Act) violations. He says the case would go nowhere.
“So the crime under consideration apparently would be the Foreign Agents Registration Act or something like that, acting as an agent of a foreign power.
And I don’t expect this to go anywhere. I’m not worried about an actual criminal case against me for a bunch of reasons. One, I’m not an agent of a foreign power, unlike a lot of people commenting on U.S. politics and global affairs.
It’s my job to talk and try and figure out what’s happening around the world. That’s literally what I do for a living, and I’m not going to stop doing that. Nor should I.
I’m an American. I can talk to anybody. I have no secrets to divulge. So legally, I think the case is ludicrous, and I doubt it’ll even become a case.
For a couple of reasons: one, countries tend to be more authoritarian in wartime. The stakes are high, people’s emotions have risen to a very high point, to a crescendo, and so there is much less tolerance for any kind of dissent in the homeland.
The irony of course is that the United States fights wars on behalf of freedom, but there is always less of it here in our country during war. So that’s a widely recognized phenomenon that’s likely to happen now too.”
If the DOJ is going to charge Tucker for FARA violations, their reasoning for that would be obviously all his overseas trips, including:
Going to Russia and interviewing Vladimir Putin.
Interviewing Satanist Aleksandr Dugin and Tucker later saying he was “deeply impacted” by him.
Interviewing the leader of Qatar.
Speaking at forums in Qatar, saying the country is wonderful even though it has slave labor, and buying a house there.
Interviewing the President of Iran just a few months ago.
It should also be worth pointing out that Laura Loomer said that she has been reporting Tucker to the DOJ.
It’s also possible that Tucker is making this up. We saw how he lied about being detained when he went to Israel to interview Mike Huckabee.
I don’t have any inside knowledge into this so I can only guess.
