White House dismisses Pentagon ‘leak’ that alleges Israeli spying as anti-Iran war pushback

Peloni:  The story of Israel spying on America’s leaders is nonsensical in the extreme.  The US-Israel alliance is what is being attacked with this “leak”, and the alliance is well described in this following sentence from the report below:

“In recent decades, intelligence sharing between both countries has been so extensive that the standard view is that there would be no need to spy on what is already being voluntarily shared by both sides.”

See this article which explains much about anonymous leaks: “When Cowardly Journalists Abuse Anonymous Sourcing.”

A White House official told NBC that the story was ‘false and sourced to someone who doesn’t have any knowledge of what’s going on.’” And White House skepticism is certainly warranted.

Long before the last election, there have been forces on the left that opposed striking Iran because they would stop at nothing to undermine Trump. And since Operation Epic Fury, there are some on the right who have sprung up to oppose the war, some due to their personal issues against Jews (Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens), while others are misguided about the threat the Iranian regime poses.

Carlson and Owens promote the idea that America must abandon its ally Israel in order to be true to the America First principle. Yet if America continued to allow the Islamic Republic of Iran to escalate to the point of annihilating Israel, Iran would not stop there. The Twelver Shia doomsday regime is just as serious about its “Death to America” threat as it is about “Death to Israel.” Carlson and Owens are influential, and hold influence over a wide segment of the right. Yet they are too blinded by their personal issues with Jews and Israel to assess realistically the jihad threat against America and the West.

Iran was a dangerous threat to America long before the Trump administration took power, but Biden and Obama had no courage to challenge the regime. Instead, they appeased and even enabled it. Under Obama, Iran — a main funder of Hamas — saw $33.3 billion in backroom deals flow into its coffers. Under Biden, billions more were sent to Iran. Yet in 2018, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu offered proof that Iran had violated the nuclear deal, and it admitted having done so in 2020.

In 2024, Rafael Grossi, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), admitted that Iran had stopped abiding by the nuclear deal in 2021. That same year at a ceremony, the Islamic Republic of Iran unveiled a new underground “missile city,” as the late Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander Hossein Salami issued the threat: “These missiles have great destructive power and can bypass the enemy’s electronic warfare systems.”

Iran has been escalating rapidly, while its powerful proxies operate globally, including inside Western countries. It was prudent to deal with the head of the snake.

It is unimaginable to think that the White House would respond to a highly questionable leak. It was best dismissed.

“US denies Pentagon leak on Israeli espionage, blames anti-Iran war sources,” by Yonah Jeremy Bob, Jerusalem Post, June 7, 2026:

US sources have indicated to The Jerusalem Post that they reject the Saturday Pentagon leak to NBC News claiming Israeli espionage activity against the US and a related special alert, defining them as likely anti-Epic Fury sources.

In other words, there have always been “America First” forces within the US, and even within the Pentagon, who oppose American intervention in Iran and are angry at Israel for its role in helping convince US President Donald Trump to go to war.

The Pentagon neither responded nor denied the original report and had not done so by press time on Sunday night. The CIA also had not responded to Post regarding the report by press time and is not identified in the report as having any particular role.

The White House has already denigrated the report and criticized the Pentagon sources who leaked it; Israel also categorically denied it and any notion of spying on the US.

Israeli and Mossad officials have denied spying on the US since the mid-1980s Jonathan Pollard spying incident, which shook the allies’ relations at the time.

In recent decades, intelligence sharing between both countries has been so extensive that the standard view is that there would be no need to spy on what is already being voluntarily shared by both sides.

Israel likewise has shared highly confidential intelligence regarding Iran with successive US administrations.

The report raised credibility concerns,….
