PELONI: Take note that a marriage of convenience has to be rooted in more than the needs of the current crisis, or it will not survive beyond that crisis. So we must grasp that until proven otherwise, any emerging alliance which might be forthcoming in their hour of need between these Arab nations and Israel is not seeking peace for the sake of peace but for the sake of their survival, and once that is secured, so too will be the celebrated peace which we might see in the coming weeks or months. The fundamental lesson of the AA which must be understood and cherished by all is that a strong independent Israel is what won the support of the first tranche of Abraham Accords signatories, and it will also be what wins the support of any further Arab nations coming to join the AA in the near or distant future. Hence, the rule which should be the measure of supporting the participation of these Arab states in any expansion of the AA should remain grounded on their joining without any concessions by Israel. Peace for peace, and nothing more.

President Trump brokered the historic Abraham Accords. Enabling Israel to normalize relations with the UAE, Bahrain, and later Morocco. Tragically, when President Biden came into office he appeased the Islamic Republican of Iran and the Palestinian Authority. Thereby halting the Abraham Accords. With President Trump in office, we will likely see the Abraham Accords get back on track. Kuwait may be the next country to join, and don’t be surprised if Saudi Arabia does the same before President Trump leaves office.

The Saudis won’t cooperate without a Palestinian state. They have declared this requirement so often over the years that they would lose 100% of their face if they were to suddenly agree to join the Abraham Accords.
In the meantime, they have lost 80% of their face by asking Israel for help with their Houthis problem, as a face-saving attempt after Israel first offered help. As if they were asking for help before it was offered. So far, no kinetic help has been offered, just intelligence to the best of our knowledge.
The Qataris also need help from the Israelis. It looks as if they would like to solve this problem without Israeli interference, but on the other hand, they are so impotent that they also need kinetic help to get the Iranians back in line. They have not actually refused to join the Abraham Accords so far, but may decline if pulled too strongly.
The main problem is still in Iran. If their nuclear sites are destroyed by Israel, there will undoubtedly be radioactive contamination around the sites that could spread across the gulf and spoil their sales program (as if it weren’t suffering enough already). That was the reason why Trump insisted on using his bombs for the job.
Actually, Trump is complaining loudly all the time but the USA have almost a monopoly on the oil market right now. It is difficult to understand why the gas prices in the USA are an issue. Somebody needs to explain this for all of us.
