PELONI: It is interesting that Metallica has been at the forefront of the music industry for the past few decades and they have made a point of consistently focusing their commentary on their music rather than allowing their popularity to be pirated towards supporting political ventures such as has been done with many other music icons such as Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen. So it should surprise no one that they would not only not allow their venues to be manipulated to support the River to the Sea crowd, but that they would actually make a statement that their music would not be transformed into a similar vehicle for political divisions as is becoming popular with others.
Metallica’s James Hetfield rejects political preaching at concerts. Here’s why the band’s history of defying the Israel boycott makes it even better.

With the likes of rapper Macklemore and country singer Zach Bryan making the news in recent weeks due to their Free Palestining, it’s refreshing to see a major musician taking a decidedly different approach.
And not just any musician.
We’re talking about James Hetfield, frontman of Metallica, one of the most popular and successful bands in the world – and arguably the biggest heavy metal band of all time.
During a concert at the Sphere in Las Vegas on October 10, Hetfield made it abundantly clear that fans attending Metallica concerts shouldn’t expect political lectures, virtue signaling, or attempts to tell them what to think.
Just good old-fashioned love, energy, and heavy music.
But not before taking a swipe at those so-called “entertainers” who apparently believe their audiences paid good money to hear their political opinions.
Metallica also has a history in Israel, having played here three times: in 1993, 1999, and 2010. That last show, at Ramat Gan Stadium on May 22, 2010, came at a time when Israel haters were pressing them to skip Israel. Metallica played anyway.
Perhaps the “Free Palestine” entertainers should take a lesson from Metallica.
Nothing Else Matters – except the music.
