Barkat tells Likud activists he’d give up Arab neighborhoods in Jerusalem

T. Belman. It is obvious that Israel is neglecting these areas, In fact it refrains from exercising sovereignty there. They are almost no go zones like in Europe. I support abandoning them to a new Area B. People see this as retrograde. Giving up any land in Y&S is wrong, they say. My view is that they are a liability to us. Better to negotiate their fate when we negotiate the fate of all the other B blocks. In the meantime, they shouldn’t be part of Israel.

Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat does not want to control poor Arab neighborhoods in the capital, such as Shuafat and Akeb, Barkat said in a speech to Likud activists that was taped secretly and revealed Monday night on Channel 10.

The report showed him criticizing police for not fighting terror well enough, and criticizing the courts for being too easy with child terrorists, in an address to a forum in Likud called Dror.

The mayor’s office responded saying Barkat is against conceding any territory in Jerusalem, and that he believes the police are doing “holy work.”

The group Barkat addressed on Sunday night at Jerusalem’s Bayit Vegan Guest House included many farright activists, including leaders of an effort to prevent the removal of the Amona outpost.

The Jerusalem mayor told the activists he would help the effort for Amona and other outposts.

“The state cannot flee from legalizing outposts,” Barkat told the forum. “The Likud needs to lead the effort.”

Barkat told the activists that no one could doubt the right of the Jewish people to the land of Israel.

“The state is obligated to the residents of Judea and Samaria,” Barkat said. “The government of Israel must find the proper legal solutions and implement them in a determined and statesmanlike manner.”

  1. @ honeybee:
My previous comment is in error. The technique is doing it from the front where there is less muscle to cut and recuperation is faster. I sent the link but, Ted has it in moderation since it is another subject. Perhaps I should have posted it on chit-chat.

  2. Need to hear Barkat say it. Do NOT believe it! Where is the recording? I want to hear the context and a report with its spin!

    Barkat denied the report!

  3. @ honeybee:
Anything that it is really news -It shines by its absence at those publications you mentioned.
Not too long ago El Arabiya had more pertinent news than the American newspapers or magazines. It goes to show you how far left our media has turned. REDS. That is what the communist propaganda is called in Spain and its supporters.
honeybee, I’m going to look for the article but, Texas could have the hip replacement with the new technique where they replace it from the back. It is so effective that they allow you to go home on the same day. In a few hours I will look for it and send it. It will have to be on the pundit.

WHERE THE PALESTINIANS ARE BEING TORTURED IMPRISIONED AND SLAUGHTERED.

On the front pages of the NY Times, Reuters, Associated Press, CNN and MSNBC.

  5. Barkat wants to let the Trojan horse remain in the HEART of Israel! A source of constant antisemitic propaganda like the Temple Mount!
