Peloni: Elections have consequences, and an unfortunate consequence of the recent Canadian election was to elect a govt which openly tolerates and supports and practices antisemitism in Canada.
By
Housakos referred to a recent incident when the Liberal government summoned the Israeli ambassador to slam Israel because the IDF fired warning shots when an EU-Arab delegation that included Canadian diplomats violated agreed-upon boundaries which were established prior to their delegation’s trip to “a combat area.” The group deviated from the war-zone path, which was an extremely dangerous and foolish move. Even worse was their outrage at the shots, despite the fact that they were in the wrong.
Jihad Watch covered the story HERE.
Housakos also addresses the pervasiveness of “Hamas talking points” circulating in mainstream Canadian society, and even being repeated by some politicians.
Adding to the antisemitic climate in Canada, a Toronto police document was described as reading like “Hamas talking points,” and accused Israel of ethnic cleansing.
PELONI-
I can tell you a story about Canadian Antiu-Jew discrimination that would open your eyes. And more, although I’d sent all the facts to Bnei Brith they ignored it, nor even replying because, I believe I was not well enough known to get them newspaper recognition. They dealt only in “Machers” … and I was only recently come to Canada.
If I’d been smarter I’d have approached them through one of my cousins long established here, and in distinguished positions.
But I was a tyro and totally ignorant of the “macher” gesheft. .
On my books issue does any member know anything about a programme called EXCEL. I’ve been told that it’s what I need but got no more information than that.
@Edgar
Excel is a spreadsheet software which is part of the Microsoft Office softwares which also includes Word and Power Point, among others. I suppose the purpose you were referenced to use Excel is so that you can list the titles of the many volumes included in your collection, as well as the details about each of them, ie first edition, excellent condition, rare out of print, pricing etc. It would be a massive undertaking to complete for a large collection of course, but it will provide you with the ability to communicate what you have to those who might be interested in purchasing them.
Regarding your experiences in Canada, I would be interested in hearing more of this. I am simply shocked by how badly things have been and continue to be going in the Great White North, although this is not only true of Canada of course.
PELONI-
Thank you for the Excel tip.I’ve looked it up and now see there are several programmes which are similar, and free. Have you any preference?? Yes it sounds overwhelming but a daughter has expressed interest in helping, which to me means doing all the computer work.
With such a spreadsheet it would be very wide. I wonder how that can fit into a small screen do you know??
As for my Anti-Semitic story, It’s very long and needs explanation to set the scenes, Should it be on this site or would you prefer privately??
Even to this day,60+years later it galls me to the bone.
@Edgar
I think Libre Office Writer is the best alternative to Office, but I use them both.
Regarding your story, send it privately for now. Thanks.
I became aware of Canadian antisemitism in reading a substack by a young Canadian historian who referred to Israel as being run by a “hyper-religious Zionist red heifer cult.” She writes on the history of the CIA and much of her work appeared honest, detailed, and revealing of the destructiveness of the CIA.
(Through a Glass Darkly, Cynthia Chung substack)
I encouraged her to go to Israel herself to see what the leadership was like, and what the people are like, because a historian needs to actually see what she is writing about.
But her references to Israel after the 7th of October shocked me until I realized she is a product of an educational system in which anti-Israel indoctrination is taught in many courses as if it is factual, and not a thicket of antisemitic lies.
This is also true of what has gone on in the US. I don’t know how many generations of students have been indoctrinated to believe that Israel is the cause of all the problems in the Middle East.
Cynthia Chung’s book is misnamed.
It should be “Seeing Through A Glass Eye Darkly”. (courtesy Mark Twain)
