  1. This method of posting was tried before and it always ends badly

People should only post when they have really serious contributions to make.

At the moment it is a turn off type of experience.

Why did Zorn attack the article outlining damage caused by heat to the Mediterranean?

Has he swallowed the denialism crap.

Laura who comment here is using her Substack to say…

Russia is bombing civilians in Ukraine

Indeed it is exactly the reverse

This is a major revisionism by Laura. Many prominent voices are echoing LAURA. I want it challenged.

Actually, yours is the first time anyone has shared the slightest complaint regarding this method of posting, and it has been well over six weeks.

  2. From today’s Arutz Sheva:In a disturbing series of events, three children were found in serious condition after being trapped in vehicles in separate incidents within just two hours of each other.

A five-year-old child and a one-and-a-half-year-old toddler were discovered in a car in the town of Elyakhin, south of Hadera, in a state of confusion and suffering from heatstroke after being trapped in the car for about two hours.

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics who were dispatched to the scene provided initial medical care, including cooling and medication. The two children were then transported to Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera. The toddler is reported to be in serious and unstable condition, sedated and on a ventilator, while the child is in moderate but stable condition.

The situation began when the Hadera police station received a report that the two children had gone missing from their home. The police, in cooperation with volunteers and local council inspectors, conducted a thorough search and successfully located the children in the car.

The police have opened an investigation into the case.

MDA paramedics who responded to the scene, Asaf Tapuhi and Idan Binder, described the difficult scene: “When we arrived at the vehicle, it was a very troubling sight. There was a lot of commotion, and bystanders helped us extract the children, a five-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl, after they had been in the car for a long time. We began performing medical checks and quickly noticed they were disoriented and showing significant signs of heatstroke. We provided them with first aid, including cooling, medication, and ventilation, and transported them to the hospital, where their condition was critical.”

Shortly after, MDA received a report of another child, a two-year-old girl, who had been forgotten in a car for about two hours in Hadera. Paramedics who were called to the scene found the toddler in severe heatstroke and performed life-saving measures before transporting her to the hospital.

MDA senior medic Roy Shushan shared the details of the second case: “We quickly arrived at the home and were told that the child had been trapped in a car for an extended period. When they found her, she was unconscious. We started medical checks and found no pulse or breathing. We immediately began advanced resuscitation, including chest compressions and ventilation, and transported her to the hospital in critical condition. During the transport, her condition deteriorated, and we continued to perform resuscitation.”

This is perhaps the most disturbing and morally reprehensible aspect of modern Israeli culture. The English-language haredi newspaper Yeshiva World News has published reports that these kinds of incidents occur very frequently in Israel’s haredi community, but only get in the press, if at all, if the chuldren are severely injured or die. While these incidents seem to occur most often in the haredi communities, they also occur sometimes in secular Israeli Jewish families and in Israeli Arab families. I feel ashamed that such neglect and abuse of children occurs in Jewish families. Especially since in the diaspora, abuse and neglect of children was. and probably still is, rare in Jewish families. Perhaps this tragic phenomenon is related to the rushed and rather reckless character of everyday life in Israel. This recklessness is also evident int eh very high number of automobile accidents that occur on Israel’s roads, In a typical year, more Israelis die as a result of car accidents than as a result of terrorism.

    • @Adam D. “This is perhaps the most disturbing and morally reprehensible aspect of modern Israeli culture.”

Gosh, you mean there’s even more? So this author finds “modern” Israeli culture – is there any other kind? Though granted Jews didn’t often leave their kids, pets, or valuable musical instruments in cars in biblical times – disturbing and reprehensible, eh?

Sounds like a comment out of Haaretz which faux-liberal (of the ubiquitous “some of my best friends”… variety of) antisemites love to quote to Jews to delegitimize Israel among Jews in the diaspora, a phenomenon I have often been on the receiving end of since the ’80s or ’90’s.

  3. Away from politics for a brief moment for a little Music Hall nostalgia.

Just yesterday, a couple of lines of an old song I haven’t heard since I was about 20 , popped unexpectedly into my mind. On the way home from Maccabi, with a load of girls to drop off at their homes, we used to sing it -in harmony. Does anyone remember it.????

    “ABIE MY BOY.”..

    Abie, Abie, Abie my Boy
What are you waiting for now…..
You promised to marry me one day in June,
It’s never too late and it’s never too soon..

All the family, keep on asking me,
    Which day, What day,
I don’t know what to say,
    Abie, Abie Abie my boy,

What Are You Waiting For Now…………

  4. Hi, Sebastien. You said,

So, after Trump tells him he spared his life, how does he respond? With a fatwa calling for Trump’s assassination. Again. That’s gratitude for ‘ya.

One might that a hard heart. Hashem hardenedPharaoh’s heart, so He could deconstruct all the gods of Egypt, one after the other. If He has similar plans for the Ayatollah, after a lifetime of his cursing God’s people, it would be fitting.

  5. I definitely am on no vacation.

All that stuff about vacation is just noise. All that matters is that you have tried to deflect.

It is a fact that Joseph Fourier pointed the way when he honed in on the atmosphere.

Eunice Foote helped three years before Tyndall.

But by 1860 John Tyndall left not the slightest doubt about the role of these greenhouse gases.

It was a huge leap in every sense by Tyndall from the hallowed halls of the Royal Institute in London

Yet nothing happened. It was not stopped.

We are now 165 years continuing

You didn’t understand any part of that and you also engaged in deflection.

Classic Climate Change Denial of the phenomenon

And I am in a fight against all forms of denial of global warming of the planet.

  6. I see that what I’ve been saying for the past 2 weeks was a very good “prognostication”.(R. Jacob-listenand learn at the feet of the Master ) A7 reports that the PM and the Iranian Crown Prince have been seen strolling, chatting animatedly, and the best of friends.
    This speaks volumes………..

  7. Sebastien Zorn

    Part 1

If you had any sense you would keep your mouth shut on the issue of global warming of the planet

You have just showed you know nothing about the subject.

In particular you haven’t grasped the central themes in the podcast I produced.

And not understanding you begin throwing all kinds of false assertions about. You then will always seek to bury the argument of your opponent with a hundred various assertions which only seek to hide the critical points.

    It is not pretty.

Then you may introduce Monty Python which is the same formula of the Tucker Carlson idiotic giggle.

Or the Candace Owen machine gun verbiage

Essentially you don’t allow anyone else to hold or give a point of view.

You obfuscate that point of view and shower it all with a thousand tweets. Are you copying Candace Owen or she you?

To repeat the main point in the LM podcast we have known precisely how global warming would endanger us from …1859…a matter of 165 years from that date to the present

In short you didn’t understand the podcast. You are therefore a complete dunce.

Every single thing you have uttered tells two things

    1. You know nothing

    2. You much prefer that Jews will be joining you in knowing nothing

  8. Some interesting but troubling events in the United States. In Coeur D’Alene, Idaho, a gunman assulted firemen who were trying to put out a fire, whiech I suspect this man started. He killed two of them and seriously wounded a third. Police eventually killed him in an exchange of fire. The reason that this is interesting is that Coeur d-Alene has long been known as a center of the American neo-Nazi movement. The so-called Aryan Brotherhood iwas and probably still is based there. Over the years, members of the Aryan Brotherhood have killed several FBI agents. They engage in vicious antisemitic propaganda. THey were suspected of being involved in an attack on the synogogue in Idaho’s capital Boise, some years ago. I believe that is the only synogie in Idaho, a state with few Jewish citizens. As best I can recollect, the anttempted fire=bombing of the shul didn’t do much damage. Still, I think we should keep an eye on this possible return to activity of the Brotherhood.

  9. Monty Python’s Ministry of Silly Walks (full sketch)

    https://youtu.be/iV2ViNJFZC8?si=-c7Yv0esyJl1NgBS

My comment: How about a Ministry of Wishful Thinking?

I’m also reminded of a funny Japanese drama from many years ago:

    “AI Overview

The information provided suggests a Japanese drama series called “Toshi Densetsu no Onna” (Urban legend woman 2) (actually season 1 and 2 and detective not woman) that features a “Ministry of Unscientific Investigation”.
Here’s what the search results tell us about it:
Premise: The drama is a comedy-mystery about a beautiful female detective named Otonashi Tsukiko who is obsessed with urban legends.
Sequel and Department: The second season (Toshi Densetsu no Onna 2) involves Tsukiko returning to Japan and joining a new division in the Metropolitan Police Department called the “Unscientific incident investigation unit (‘UIU’)”.
Plot Element: The series seems to involve solving various unsolved cases by linking them to urban legends, with the first episode of the sequel featuring an urban legend related to Mount Fuji.
Therefore, it seems that the Japanese drama you’re asking about is likely “Toshi Densetsu no Onna 2,” which includes a “Ministry of Unscientific Investigation” (or rather, “Unscientific incident investigation unit”) that focuses on cases connected to urban legends. ”

    Except I’m not laughing now.

      • Hi, Sebastien.

Are you suggesting that Hashem is hadening the hearts of … whom? Trump, Bibi, the Ayatollah? The Bible says,’

“The heart of the king is in the hand of the LORD (Hashem), and he turns it whichever way he wants.”

If you believe this, you do well. I do as well.

BTW, I’ve jsut started listening to Brer Rabbit’s nemesis, Col. McGregor:

        https://youtu.be/5P5dnfCehZw

He brings up some good points, and inspires others. For instance, Putin is a stubborn orl arse; but is not hell-bent on suicide like Khammenei seems to be. Just based on the intractability of their enemies, then, one would conclude that Ukraine has a better chance of outlasting Russia than Israel has of outlasting the Mullahs — the latter will simply never give up; the former might. Yes?

        • Hi, Michael The Ayatoilet, of course. Trump had offered him a deal, “Deal of the minute,” let’s call it. 😀 So, after Trump tells him he spared his life, how does he respond? With a fatwa calling for Trump’s assassination. Again. That’s gratitude for ‘ya. Offer withdrawn, needless to say. I doubt Trump is surprised. He just has to dot all the Is and cross all the T’s to deal with domestic and foreign opposition. And fool the enemy. Same for Bibi. There’s a healthy amount of deception going on here. This is a war. I think we should all cut them some slack and not jump to conclusions. Me too. The fat lady hasn’t sung yet (“and General Francisco Franco is still dead.” 😀 )

        • BTW, I made a mistake. Farmer McGregor was PETER Rabbit’s nemesis, not BRER Rabbit’s. The last and only time I read about him was in Latin class, 60 years ago.

Israel is actively working on reducing carbon emissions, with a focus on technological innovation and sustainable practices. Israeli startups are developing solutions for carbon capture from the air and converting emissions into usable materials. These efforts are part of a broader push towards net-zero emissions by 2050.
Here’s a more detailed look at Israel’s approach:
    1. Carbon Capture Technologies:
Israeli startups are developing technologies to capture carbon dioxide directly from the atmosphere, aiming for gigaton-scale impact.
One startup is working on a chemical process to mineralize CO2 into products for various industries, including food, feed, glass, and fertilizer.
Another is developing a solution for converting CO2 into carbon monoxide, a building block for low-carbon synthetic fuels and plastics.
    2. Sustainable Aviation Fuel:
A new venture is focused on producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), which is crucial for the aviation industry’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.
This technology involves converting CO2 into synthetic fuels, offering a cleaner alternative to traditional aviation fuel.
    3. Circular Economy and Waste Reduction:
Israeli companies are exploring ways to incorporate carbon capture technology into industrial processes, such as glass manufacturing, to create a circular economy.
Sustainable packaging solutions are also being developed to reduce food waste and its associated carbon emissions.
    4. Addressing Specific Sectors:
The buildings and construction industry, a major contributor to carbon emissions, is gradually implementing greener standards.
Efforts are underway to reduce emissions from transportation, including promoting micro-mobility, ridesharing, and electric vehicles.
    5. International Collaboration:
Israel is showcasing its climate-tech companies at international conferences like COP29, demonstrating its commitment to global climate action.
Israeli companies are also working with international partners to implement their solutions, such as helping Japanese energy producers reduce emissions.
    6. Individual Responsibility:
ISRAEL21c articles highlight the importance of individual actions in reducing carbon footprints, such as reducing consumption, switching to low-carbon alternatives, and advocating for policy changes.
    7. Climate Resilience:
Israel is also focusing on adaptation strategies to mitigate the impacts of climate change, such as combating heatwaves and managing water resources.

Though manufacture of electric vehicles and batteries just transfers the same industrial process without eliminating it.

  13. @fquigley Interesting. Two others are Svante Arrhenius and Guy Stewart Callendar. But, I am skeptical of scientists who call for upending everything or else. Remember Fauci?

There are no practical alternatives. Billions would die.

Moreover, climate alarmists are jet setting hypocrites who are just using this to bring down the West and destroy Israel. These theories have also been tested in third world countries like Sri Lanka – pesticides -with catastrophic results.

This Guardian article blames global warming on Israel defending herself, the most environmentally conscious developed country on earth. Jan 9, 2024. 3 months after Oct. 7!

“Emissions from Israel’s war in Gaza have ‘immense’ effect on climate catastrophe”

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/jan/09/emissions-gaza-israel-hamas-war-climate-change

Not so surprising Greta Thunberg seemlessly transitioned from climate alarmism to eliminationist antisemitism.

If these theoretical models have any validity, these are truly long term prognostications and new technologies are being invented to ameliorate them. all the time, especially in Israel. Two sites to follow: Nocamels.com and Israel21c.org.

  14. Sebastien

I am being very concrete and dealing with roughly 1800 to 1850

ie the very early stages of global warming

Joseph Fourier was a renowned mathematician and he made laborious calculations about sun heat to the earth

    Fourier…earth should be very cold

So he looked to gases in the atmosphere to solve that question but didn’t identify the gases. That was the 1820s

1859 John Tyndall carried out his well known experiment in the Royal Institute in London and identified the main warming gas as carbon .

But human society didn’t act. Thanks to Tyndall it had the precise uncontested information. By the year 1859.

It did the opposite. The gas CO2 has went on increasing and the temperature of earth along with it.

  15. @fquigley I listened to it and they just made assertions without the analysis that they said they were going to provide. However, I googled: Marx and Tyndall and a lot of articles came up saying what you are saying and attempting to go into more detail but really the problem with all of this is that it’s just based on conceptual models. This is the same problem with the flawed projections of the non-Marxian climate alarmists. But, we have seen in practice how untested theories caused millions of deaths in the “Socialist” countries, Lysenko in the Soviet Union, Malthus in China. Marxism-Leninism everywhere.

  16. Sebastien

Good to speak with you again

The word global is misused. Issues climate are global because we have one common atmosphere and things climate are governed by our atmosphere.

In all of human issues today global warming of the planet is by far the most serious. That is what I said.

But I didn’t say Israel is a non issue. There are many enemies seeking it’s destruction and I call for its victory over its many enemies

Then you repeat these old sayings.

    “1960’s – Oil gone in 10 years.
1970’s – Another Ice Age in 10 years.
1980’s Acid Rain will destroy all crops in 10 years.
1990’s – The Ozone Layer will be gone in 10 years.
2000 – Ice caps will be gone in 10 years.

NONE HAPPENED: but all resulted in MORE TAXES (underlined). ”

Most claims are a little dicey and disproved endlessly.

But no matter I start from a different point, it is well explained in the Google LM podcast attached

We understood how dangerous CO2 gas was as a warming agent in our atmosphere. Fourier, Foote and particularly John Tyndall proved this in 1860

Since 1860 despite knowing mankind has not solved the problem. THIS IS 165 YEARS

I.E. It ain’t knowledge. It is system (capitalism).

    165 years of frustration.

  17. @fquigley What does “global scale” mean? You said it’s the hottest day in history on a global scale in a thread about Israel finally achieving independence amounting to saying, “ho hum” and changing the subject, e.g., “What about the price of tea in China?” But, in any case, It’s 81 degrees fahrenheit in Israel and 79 in New York City.

IRAN WAR UPDATE – Weekend roundup

    Shavua Tov!

We need to start this update by recognizing something bigger than the headlines: the miracles.

Yes, Shabbat was relatively quiet in Israel, most Israelis didn’t have to run to safe rooms, despite serious attempts by Iran to escalate. That alone is not normal — it’s miraculous.

    Let’s break down what happened.

Shabbat Attacks – Iran Tries, Israel Defends

On Friday night Iran launched about 10 ballistic missiles targeting the center of Israel. And once again, every single one was intercepted. Our defense systems, human vigilance, and divine protection worked together.

In addition, Iran launched over 40 drones at Israel during Shabbat. Most were shot down. Two made impact:

    – One hit an apartment in Beit Shean
    – Another fell in the Arava region

    Baruch Hashem – no injuries.

IDF Strikes Deep – Inside Iran and Lebanon

But this is not just defense — Israel is fighting back strategically and precisely.

    Over Shabbat, the IDF eliminated:

    – Behnam Shahriari, commander of Unit 190 of the Quds Force – key in arming Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis

    – Issar Tabatbay Kamesh, an Iranian nuclear scientist, a critical figure in their nuclear program.

Saeed Izadi, the link between the IRGC and Hamas, one of the top facilitators of regional terror.

These are not small names — these are core operatives in Iran’s war against the Jewish State.

Hezbollah Hesitates – But the Front Is Active

In the north, the IDF targeted Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon on Friday. And in a precision strike, an Israeli drone eliminated Hussein Daher, a Hezbollah terrorist, while he was riding his motorcycle. One less threat.

    Now here’s the drama:

According to journalist Amit Segal, Iran’s Supreme Leader ordered Hezbollah (via Secretary-General Naim Qassem) to join the war and start launching rockets.

But… Qassem refused. Why? He’s scared. He knows the IDF is ready to obliterate Hezbollah if they fully engage. Some in Israel are even saying: “Let them try, so we can finish them once and for all.”

The Bigger Picture – U.S. Moves and Diplomatic Collapse

We’re also seeing major movement on the global stage.

The U.S. is not sitting this out. Reports confirm: six B-2 stealth bombers, yes, the most advanced long-range bombers in the American arsenal, are on their way to the Middle East.

Is this a prelude to direct U.S. involvement in a strike against Iran? Possibly. We’ll need to watch carefully in the coming days.

Meanwhile, in Geneva, diplomacy has hit a dead end. Talks between Iran and the EU collapsed. Iran made it clear: they will not stop uranium enrichment. No next meeting. Just more escalation.

And finally, there are unconfirmed reports that the IDF attacked a warship docked at the Iranian naval base in Bandar Abbas. If that’s true the message to Iran is loud and clear: nowhere is safe when you threaten Israel.

Perspective – Little Israel vs. the Giant

Let’s zoom out for a moment. These developments are not just strategic wins they are miracles.

We’re watching little Israel — a country the size of New Jersey — successfully stand up to Iran, a nation 75 times our size, with a regime that has been obsessed with destroying us for decades.

And not only are we standing, we are winning. We are eliminating their top terror operatives, intercepting their most dangerous missiles, and sending shockwaves through their military and nuclear apparatus.

None of this can be taken for granted.

Final Thought – This Is Also America’s Fight

Let’s not forget: Iran has long called America the “Big Satan.” Their intent to destroy the U.S. is not hidden — it’s part of their ideology. They’ve murdered American servicemen in Beirut, they’re partnering with anti-American regimes in Latin Americ, and yes — there are Iranian sleeper cells inside the United States today, just waiting for orders.

Don’t let anyone tell you this is only Israel’s war.

But make no mistake — if we have to go at it alone, we will. Israel will do what it must, with or without help, to defend our people and, in doing so, stand on the frontlines for the entire free world.

    Am Yisrael Chai.

Stay strong, stay vigilant, and stay proud.

KRULEWITCH, MELVIN LEVIN (1895–1978), U.S. soldier. Born in New York City, Krulewitch was a sergeant in the U.S. army in France during World War i. After practicing law for several years he returned to the army when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, rejoining the Marine Corps as an officer. During World War ii Krulewitch was the first to fly the American flag on Japanese territory. He was decorated for meritorious service at Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Clusters; the Purple Heart; a Presidential Unit Citation; and the Naval Unit Citation. He also received a Special Commendation Ribbon of the secretary of the Navy.

He was a military observer in Israel in 1948 and in Korea in 1950. He retired in 1956 with the rank of major general, the highest-ranking Jewish officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was one of the founders of the World Boxing Council (1963) and served as chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission.

Krulewitch wrote Now That You Mention It: Memoirs from the Halls of Montezuma to the Madison Square Garden Ring by Way of Old New York and the State of Israel (1973).

    [Ruth Beloff (2nd ed.)]

My comment: Only heard about him when I was growing up from my mother. He was her mother’s first cousin also born around 1890. Grew up in my neighborhood. Was Bar Mitzvahed at Jewish Theological Seminary in 1908. Graduated from Columbia College and Law School. Dropped out of Law school in 2nd year to join the marines as a private in 1917. At battle of Beleau Wood, led his men to safety as the highest ranking soldier among the 10 men of his 200 man company who survived a mustard gas attack and 2 weeks later led them to victory up a hill against a German position despite a shell that went off in their midst but didn’t go off. He was also the chairman of the board of a now defunct Jewish charity and the New York office of the Marines originally operated out of his law office.

Haym Salomon was a Polish-born Jewish immigrant who became a key financier of the American Revolution. He provided crucial financial support to the Continental Congress and Patriot leaders, playing a significant role in the success of the war effort.

    Financier of the Revolution:
