  13. @peloni. The terrorists were killed by two haredi soldiers serving in the IDF. They were serving in an all-haredi unit known as the Hasmonean Brigade. One of them was a company commander. Not all haredim are draft dodgers. I think they had been given a brief leave to visit their families. But like all IDF soldiers they considered themselves on duty 24/7.

    The people who are always bad-mouthing the haredim and calling them draft dodgers should take not of the existence of this brigade as well as several other all-haredi units in the IDF. I believe that nearly all of the haredim who are fit to serve are either already in the IDF or are in the process of enlisting.

    The haredim who are refusing to be drafted on the instructions of their rabbis are mainly unfit for duty. Arresting them for refusing to report for the draft won’t accomplish anything, since nearly of these “draft dodgers” are physically and/or mentally unfit for duty. They attend yehivas where they receive no instruction in the secular subjects that every IDF man and woman needs to know in order to be fit for duty Very few if any o “resistant” yeshivas provide their students with any physical education. As a result these “yehiva bokers” are physically as well as mentally unfit for duty. The last thing the IDF induction centers need is to have to process thousands, maybe of unfit recruits.The soldiers who work at these induction centers’ time would be much better spent processing recruits who whoare fit for duty. In any case, the unfit haredi men are unlikely to show up when drafted.

    • Adam: I agree with your comment regarding the all Haredi soldiers. I have met some of them and know that they are amongst the best. On the other hand, those that decline to serve in any capacity should be ashamed of themselves. Their are plenty of tasks to be accomplished in the IDF that do not require 100% physical strength and they would probably be assigned to those stations, for example, the kitchens in all IDF bases need someone to take care that the food is dealt with properly, i.e. kosher. There are tasks in the supplies domain that need to be taken care of. There are tasks that require mental and analytical capabilities that are beyond the power of many regular soldiers. I could go on and on but I hope you get the picture. The correct selection of tasks would probably free up able-bodied soldiers to more strenuous activities.
      When soldiers are drafted, they are assessed to determine their capabilities and they are assigned appropriately. Dodging the draft is not a cavalier kind of move.

    A story of redemption

    Albert Battel was a Nazi officer who turned against the party after witnessing the liquidation of a Jewish ghetto in Poland and atoned for past sins by saving 100 Jewish families.

    Born in 1891 in Prussian Silesia, Albert served in the German Army in World War I. After the war, he attended law school and worked as an attorney in Breslau. In the early 1930’s, as Hitler rose to power in Germany, Albert heard the Nazi leader speak and was inspired by his message of German pride and unity after the humiliating defeat in the Great War. Albert joined the Nazi Party in 1933 and served as a Lieutenant in the Wehrmacht army reserves.

    In 1942, Albert was called up from the reserves at age 51. He was sent to Prsemysl, Poland to help liquidate the Jewish ghetto there. Albert was horrified at the human misery he witnessed during the cruel liquidation. Families were being separated, beaten, arrested, and sent to their deaths. The streets were lined with corpses of Jews who died from starvation, disease, beatings or gunshot wounds.

    Albert was sickened and enraged by what he saw. Participating in the ghetto liquidation was simply not an option for Albert. Together, he and local military commander Major Max Liedke – another German officer with a moral compass – took action. They ordered the bridge over the River San, the only way to reach the ghetto, to be completely blocked so the SS could not get through. When the Nazi troops tried to cross the bridge, Albert threatened to open fire and kill them all. The local Jewish inhabitants were amazed. Albert then commandeered Nazi trucks to evacuate and save 100 Jewish families. Those families were the only Jews from the entire town of Prsemysl who survived. The rest of Prsemysl’s 24,000 Jews were murdered, most of them at Belzec concentration camp.

    The Nazi party immediately conducted a secret investigation of Albert and found a history of kindness to Jews. Before the war, he had been disciplined for lending a small amount of money to a Jewish colleague. Another time, he was publicly reprimanded for shaking the hand of a Jew. The internal investigation went all the way to Heinrich Himmler, head of the Gestapo, who ordered Albert expelled from the Nazi Party and arrested. Himmler postponed Albert’s punishment, however, until after the war to avoid embarrassment for the party.

    When the war ended with Nazi defeat, Albert was captured by the Russians. After his release, he returned to Germany but found that his Nazi past made him ineligible to practice law. Because Himmler’s order to expel him had been postponed, Albert was still on the records as a Nazi Party member.

    Albert Battel died in 1952 of heart disease. In 1981, Dr. Zeev Goshen, an Israeli lawyer and researcher, investigated and publicized Albert’s story. Due to Dr. Goshen’s efforts, in 1981 Albert Battel was honored as Righteous Among the Nations by Israeli Holocaust Memorial Yad Vashem.”

    As I posted on Friday, the Trump administration has officially barred Mahmoud Abbas’ Palestinian Authority team from entering the U.S. to attend the upcoming United Nations General Assembly. The reason? The PA’s continued financial and political support for terrorism.

    This could mark more than a symbolic shift. It may well be the beginning of a broader policy realignment laying the groundwork for U.S. support for Israel to formally apply sovereignty over Judea and Samaria. After years of international appeasement, reality is setting in: the Palestinian Authority will finally be punished for supporting terror and the destruction of Israel.

    That’s all the good news on the current war front.

    Now, for the update about the war that nobody is talking about.

    The Axis Is Shifting.

    As Israel continues to successfully destroy the Iranian Shiite axis, Iran’s partner, Qatar, is busy establishing a new and equally dangerous Islamic axis of evil threat to Israel and the freedom-loving world.

    In a recent statement, Israeli Minister Amichai Chikli identified the emerging Sunni Axis of Evil, comprising two dangerous imperial visions:

    – Qatar ( Muslim Brotherhood)
    – Turkey (Erdogan is also Muslim Brotherhood, interested in re-establishing Ottoman caliphate)
    – Syria under the caliphate vision championed by Jolani’s al-Qaeda leadership

    These are not isolated actors. With their greatest rival, the Iranian-led Shiite axis of evil, now in ruins thanks to Israel, they are increasingly aligning ideologically and politically around a common goal: to reassert Sunni Islamist dominance across the region and to eliminate Israel as a free, democratic, Jewish state.

    Anyone who fails to see this, fails to understand both fundamentalist Islam and the true nature of the Middle East.

    CONCLUSION: ISRAEL IS WINNING

    While headlines and Jewish pundits scream about Israel potentially taking over Gaza, ultimately, we are not fighting for land. We are fighting for our right to exist, to live in peace, and to protect our people from those who glorify death, and that necessitates taking our land back.

    It is regrettable that Mrs. McCain has since issued statements contradicting what she told us in Jerusalem. That is a misrepresentation.
    Israel is enabling a steady flow of aid in sufficient quantities.

    Instead of blaming Israel with false accusations, the WFP should fully cooperate with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which is working diligently to provide food to the needy.
