Here you focused on their love hate relationship with the US. If one includes president Trump in that focal point, I would add: Most European nations suffer from TDS. Like many Americans, they can see that most of Trump’s policies are good and help them economically and of course help make the world a safer place. Yet because they hate his often abrasive personality, they tend to call him hitler and are blind to all the really great achievements he’s accomplished.
If you were to include Europes hatred to Israel (there is hardly any love at all for her, despite the incredible good that Israel does for Europe and the world), it boils down to good old antisemitism. In fact their hatred towards the US does have a component of this too. Since the US under the Trump administration is obviously pro-Israel, that is one more reason for hating the US.
