FL Surgeon General Accuses Biden Administration Of “Actively Preventing” Distribution Of Vital COVID Treatment

TALLAHASSEE, FL – A letter sent by Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo to the Biden Administration’s Health and Human Services Secretary, Xavier Becerra, accuses the administration of “actively preventing” the dispersing of a treatment for COVID-19 that could prove life-saving if distributed.

In Ladapo’s letter to HHS Secretary Becerra, he explained how the state of Florida was seeing immense success by employing the use of monoclonal antibodies as a treatment for COVID, noting that as of mid-September, almost 100,000 patients had received monoclonal antibody treatments that rendered life-saving results.

Yet, after Florida saw such a level of success with the aforementioned treatment, Ladapo cited that HHS had opted to reduce the amount of monoclonal antibodies “allocated” for the state.

“Shortly after Florida’s 100,000 treatment milestone, and without any advanced notice, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a dramatic reduction in the number of monoclonal antibodies to be allocated to the State of Florida.”

Ladapo credited Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for moving “quickly” to try obtaining monoclonal antibody treatments from avenues outside of HHS, but still attributed blame on the Biden administration for fostering an “artificial shortage” of a “life-saving treatment.”

“Governor DeSantis moved quickly to acquire Sotrovimab from GlaxoSmithKline to help alleviate the artificial shortage caused by this sudden shift from HHS. However, the lack of allocation of this life-saving treatment from the federal government continues to cause another immediate and life-threatening shortage of treatment options.”
