Most of Israel’s Arab residents were temporary settlers. None of them ever constituted a state or nation on these lands, nor a distinct culture different from the surrounding Arab lands. None of them had ever provided any archeological evidence of their ancient or permanent existence on these lands, nor any particular characteristics that would imbue them with a peoplehood distinct from other nomadic tribes and Arab nations formed from nomadic tribes.

However we all understand occupation, conquest, expansion, empire, and colonization. These can only be perpetrated by coercion and imposition: for example, by imposing the culture, language, and the religion of the conqueror, occupier and colonizer on the occupied and the conquered. It means that the occupied nations will likely adopt the culture, cuisine, religion, even the thinking of, and speak the languages of the occupier, oppressor, colonizer and the conqueror.
