In an insightful article titled, Frank Gaffney: A Post-Ideological President in an Ideological World, Frank Gaffney, former Assistant Secretary of Defense under President Reagan and currently the President of the Institute for the American Future and host of “Securing America” on Real America’s Voice, provides an important review of President Trump’s first year in office in his second term as president.

Gaffney describes Trump as a “post-ideological” leader whose instinct is focused on pragmatic deals rather than pursue a coherent worldview, a  dangerous proposition in a geopolitical landscape filled with leaders and movements driven by rigid ideological agendas, including Communist, Islamist, or nationalist. These forces recognize Trump’s transactional flexibility not as vulnerability to be exploited, thru which their own ideological objectives might gain significant advantages. By treating adversarial regimes in the same manner in which he might treat a business partners, Trump lends legitimacy, resources, and strategic advantage to actors and forces who are fundamentally hostile to the interests of America.

Gaffney goes on to shares the following examples to validate his concerns:

  • China: Gaffney points to ongoing U.S. financial ties, including investment in Chinese companies, as helping fund China’s power and strategic ambitions despite the increasing belligerancy against US partners in Asia and the Pacific region.

  • Qatar: Massive U.S. investments from Qatar, including gifting a new Air Force One, are problematic due to the Qatar’s support for Muslim Brotherhood and other Jihadi groups around the world.

  • Turkey: He is critical of U.S. partnerships with Turkey under Erdogan, noting the sharia-supremacism nature of the Erdogan regime and the threat poised by Erdogan’s stated neo Ottoman ambitions.

  • Syria / Jihadists: Al-Sharaa, a former al-Qaeda and ISIS figure, has been awarded sanctions relief and legitimization, following the July slaughter of minority groups in Syria.

  • Hamas and Gaza: The “ceasefire” and negotiations are being exploited by Hamas and its backers to rebuild the terrorist enclave granting Hamas at least a temporary reprieve during which they are entrenching their regime in nearly half of Gaza without facing the slightest consequence.

  • Iran: Despite a ceasefire, Iran is allegedly reconstituting its nuclear and proxy military capacity, funded using oil revenues from sales and trade following the easing of restrictions on Iran.

  • Domestic politics: Gaffney also warns about legitimizing radical domestic political figures, like NYC’s newly elected mayor, Zohran Mamdani who is a Marxist/jihadist.

Gaffney calls for the US to urgently recalibrate its approach towards these forces which are hostile to American interests, and notes that failure to confront ideological adversaries with ideological clarity risks allowing the strength of totalitarian movements to grow at the expense of America, thus potentially setting the stage for a “post-America world.”

  1. @keelie I totally agree with you.

Trump apparently does want a stronger and freer America than the one prior to his election in 2024. He wants to strengthen America financially, economically, he wants Americans to have good paying jobs, he wants cleaner rivers and streams, he wants safe cities due to removal and deportation of criminal illegal aliens and through keeping criminals in prison. He wants an end to DEI and indoctrination of school children into CRT and other Marxist concepts.

Arriving at the above results is complicated, but primarily the difficulty is globalist people in power in the UK, Europe, and their controlling the levers of power in Ukraine and the Middle East. The people Trump has to “fight” are extremely powerful and determined.

So if he makes deals that ensure that the US is not taken advantage of by most countries in the world, and if makes sure that fraud which runs throughout the federal bureaucracy is addressed, the economy of the US will improve. Even just by deporting illegal aliens, the US economy will improve, because this is a group of untold millions who use our schools, emergency rooms, and federal health programs.

The dangers of the globalists probably cannot be met head on by Trump. If he could meet them head on, I believe he would.

So Trump is proceeding to make big changes that are going to add up to improved quality of life in the US.

You have to remember where we were before Trump became President. We had lost our sovereignty in the DOJ as a result of Obama and his appointees, Eric Holder and Lanny Breuer. To wit, the DOJ never investigated any of the big banks that were responsible for the global financial crisis!

There was so much corruption in our federal government through USAID, there was a system of monitoring social media for use in criminalizing dissent, our members of Congress were essentially doing insider trading and making multi millions of dollars rather than paying any attention at all to their constituents. The economy went from bad to worse because no one in office as President had a clue as to how to improve the economy.

All this mess and more Trump “inherited.” That he has continued to stand straight and tall instead of crumple and be overwhelmed with all the problems, is a sign of great strength on his part.

So I know Trump is disappointing a lot of people because he has not solved all the problems our country is facing. But just think if our President was a Republican (RINO). Think what a useless waste of space anyone from the uniparty would be as President.

All of the above dangers are real. I still have hope that eventually they will be dealt with.

  2. Yes, “Lets Make a Deal” sounds totally insane when you are dealing with a known Death Cult that doesn’t recognize the legitimacy of an agreement written on a piece of paper.
