For over two years, I warned Israeli decision-makers at the highest levels that the situation with Egypt was escalating.

For over two years, I made it explicitly clear that the likelihood of a military confrontation was increasing significantly. There were weeks when the threat seemed to grow by the day.

For over two years, many senior Israeli and non-Israeli researchers misled the public. They peddled wishful thinking, insisting that Cairo’s hostile actions and rhetoric were merely for “domestic consumption” and that there was nothing to fear. All the while, Cairo was celebrating the completion of six tunnels linking the Nile Delta to Sinai, reducing its military deployment time to a mere fifteen minutes.

Then, suddenly, the world awoke to the news that the entire Israel-Egypt border area had been declared a closed military zone.

Behind that announcement lay hundreds of hours of work by the most dedicated analysts and a group of exceptional, patriotic Israelis—individuals who have grown weary of risking our national security to the old establishment’s groupthink.

Now, I am issuing another warning. The coming months will decide the future of Egyptian-Israeli relations.

Expect to hear more from me on this in the next few days. And if you are one of the brave Israeli patriots who helped us tackle this escalating threat, know this: generations of Jews will be forever in your debt.

One day, the world will remember us. They will tell the story of how we risked so much and endured such abuse—even from those whose security we fought for, who called us alarmists and warmongers when we were merely their defenders.

You will find a number of links to interviews and articles I wrote on the situation with Egypt in the first comment below.

For the first time, I feel that Israeli decision-makers have finally listened and that my work on this has not been in vain. The measures announced by Minister Katz are most welcome.

Baruch HaShem, I will sleep better tonight. Shabbat Shalom!
