Iranian Majlis speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf (sometimes spelled Ghalibaf), who is now responsible for strategic decision-making in the regime,[1] is a former IRGC commander who has served in numerous regime roles since the Islamic Revolution in Iran. He is reportedly close to Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.[2]

Qalibaf recently threatened “financial institutions that fund the U.S. military budget,” calling them “legitimate targets” and adding: “U.S. Treasury bonds are tainted with the blood of Iranians.”[3]

According to reports, he has temporarily been removed from the U.S. and Israeli list of targets “for four or five days.” to allow for him to possibly lead negotiations to end the war.[4]

Iranian Majles Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf said in a March 18, 2026 interview on IRINN TV (Iran) that many ships are no longer sailing in the region due to unsafe conditions. He stated that as a result of foreign interference, the situation in the Strait of Hormuz cannot return to what it was before the war. Qalibaf added that while Iran does not seek to escalate tensions and is working to reduce them, this does not mean it will surrender or allow the United States and the “Zionist regime” to impose their desired order on the region.

Iranian Majles Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf eulogized Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in a March 1, 2026 address aired on IRINN TV (Iran). He said that a plan is already in place for after the martyrdom of Khamenei, adding that with the establishment of a leadership council to replace him, senior officials, the defense forces, and the public will display unbelievable strength and solidarity. Qalibaf stated that Iran’s defense forces have activated only a portion of their capabilities and that they will settle the score with the Americans and Israelis, who will pay for crossing Iran’s red lines. He warned that Iran will strike them so hard that they will come begging to Iran. Addressing Khamenei, Qalibaf choked up and said that they believe God grants martyrs the ability to influence events in the material world, pledging to Khomeini and to all the martyrs that they will not allow Islamic Iran to be devoured.

Iranian Majles Members, Led By Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, All In IRGC Uniforms, Threaten The EU With Consequences Over Terror Designation, Chant ‘Death To America!’

Iranian Majles speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf responded to the European Union’s designation of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) as a terrorist organization in a February 1, 2026 Majles session aired on Channel 2 (Iran). Dressed in an IRGC uniform, Qalibaf called the designation an “irresponsible measure.” Majles members in attendance, also wearing IRGC uniforms, waved their fists and chanted, “Europe, shame on you!” Qalibaf formally declared that the European countries’ armies are now considered terrorist organizations and that the European Union will bear the consequences of this measure. The Majles members then repeatedly chanted: “Death to America!”
