    Although, to be fair, there are serious questions about Cairo’s inability to prevent Oct. 7; it should have been in Cairo’s interest to do so, and the lack of awareness about it illustrates a general region-wide inability to learn anything about Hamas intentions (or a decision not to share)…so there’s a lot of troubling questions about whether this whole terrible war and suffering could have been prevented.

    You’d think a basic job of an intel service is to prevent disasters like this. I mean…it’s kind of the key point…you invest to prevent massive wars…this war wasn’t in most country’s interest (except Hamas-Iran, maybe Ankara-Doha)…so a big question should ask how NOT ONE country picked up on it…including Cairo which has historic interests in Gaza…if one country should have besides Israel and Doha, it should have been Cairo.
