Min Ariel Up in Arms Over PM’s Newest Building Freeze

What perverse logic. Netanyahu is gratuitously offering the freeze to get Abbas back to the table. Why? To what end? Three possible reasons: 1 He really does want to try to make a deal, 2. He wants to extend talks in order to eat up more of Obama’s term or 3. He wants to take some heat off Israel. All three are lousy reasons. I do not believe that BB is motivated by weakness but by a desire to consummate a deal. Ted Belman

Prime Minister Netanyahu imposed a building freeze in Judea and Samaria after talks with the PA fell apart several weeks ago.

Ariel2In a near-counter-intuitive move, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu imposed a building freeze in Judea and Samaria after the talks with the Palestinian Authority fell apart several weeks ago. Ironically, it was just such a freeze that the PA had demanded as the price for keeping the talks going.

As a result of the freeze, Housing Minister Uri Ariel on Sunday abstained in a vote to allocate a budget to buy a plane for the use of Netanyahu, sources told Arutz Sheva Sunday.

Ariel in recent days has had numerous discussions with Netanyahu, trying to persuade him to take advantage of the cesssation of the talks to go on a major building campaign in Judea and Samaria. The plane, which would be used by Netanyahu on his trips abroad, will cost the government NIS 70 million.

According to the sources, Netanyahu imposed the building freeze in order to make it appear that Israel was not taking advantage of the end of the talks, as a signal that Israel was interested in continuing talks. By freezing the building, Netanyahu believes, he will cause world leaders to increase pressure on PA chief Mahmoud Abbas to continue the talks.

  1. Really awesome night, Dove. Just got home. (It takes us about 2 hours to get home from Toronto.) Feiglin sat right across from us at the meal afterward. We invited CAIR Canada (they go by a different name now), but not one of them showed up. As I said, sold out.

  2. We couldn’t make it, Dove. My Jewish buddy down here had to cancel because of his work load. We are going up tomorrow to be part of the JDL Canada security for Moishe Feiglin who is speaking there [Toronto] tomorrow night. The event is already sold out. Should be exciting.

  3. “…PA unity agreement with Hamas has changed the attitude of supporters of PA in favor of Israel.”

If Abbas were seen on CNN throwing Palestinian children into a burning fire, his supporters would still vouch for him. You obviously have no idea about what kind of savages support this piece of shit.

  4. “…increase pressure on PA chief Mahmoud Abbas to continue the talks.”

He just joined hands with Hamas. So imposing a building freeze on Jewish settlements will convince Abbas to continue peace talks with Israel? This Muslim sociopath is not interested in any sort of peace deal with Israel’s Jews. Why is it taking so long for the world to recognize this fact?

PA unity agreement with Hamas has changed the attitude of supporters of PA in favor of Israel. In order to take time to prepare himself and the country to meet the potential challenges and the opportunity the so called agreement has caused, BB made the right decision to temporarily freeze the buildings. When Israel’s enemies and their supporters are some what divided, why give PA and Hamas a weapon they can easily use to divert international public opinion against Israel? International opinion should not be totally ignored as both PA and Hams would like to go to the United Nations Security Council to be recognized as a state.
It seems to me, BB is using the building freeze as a tactic for a long term strategic interests of Israel. He has accessibility to classified info (to make an informed decision) that all of his critics may not have.

I have another those in Texas don’t, you will need to do a full body search to find where it is

Found it, finally , it was soooo small.

Love the clip. I once hear the the first person through the Mandelbaum Gate was a female officer named Zelinger. I am related to every Zelinger in the world said my Dad.

The devil got hold of me. It’s Cinco de Mayo the market was jammed. Bought a Star of David and a Menorah. I give them to friends.

  9. 3000 US-Trained PA Officers to Serve Hamas in Gaza

3000 Palestinian Authority soldiers/policemen are set to go to Gaza, and serve together with their Hamas compatriots, according to a report in Ma’an News.

These 3000 soldiers previously served in Gaza, until Hamas violently took over killing the Palestinian Authority competition, at which point these soldiers/police escaped to the Palestinian Authority.

With the new peace deal between the PA and Hamas, these US trained soldiers, will now begin serving with Hamas in Gaza.

Hamas is currently designated a terrorist group by the United States.

@ yamit82:I don’t have such a harsh opinion of BB. Other than going along with the PP and even inducing the Arabs to participate, Bibi gave nothing. He held tight on security and borders and Jerusalem. Although he restrained building, 14,000 units in the planning state are impressive. The fact that Yaalon and Lieberman supported him and Bennett and Danon didn’t bolt suggests that BB was holding firm. Yes BB was going to meet Arab and US demands for a further extention, there was no sign that he was going to yield on security, Jerusalem or settlements. Nor was he agreeable to uprooting settlers.

1 He really does want to try to make a deal,

    BINGO!!!!

Sorry Ted you need to see BB in the Context of everything he has done since he entered Politics after being groomed for the Job by Kissinger and Schultz.

BB is no better than a foreign agent of America who only follows orders from his handlers. If he does not deliver the goods for them they will replace him with another who will. (that’s the real pressure he is constantly under)

  11. @ NormanF:
At a time when he should have been making preparations to annex some of Israel occupied territory. He comes with more cowardly attempts to make peace with people who will never sign a peace agreement or make peace.
It is either stupidity or lack of b–ls.
    Stupid dhimmi.

  12. Abu Bluff will never make peace with Israel.

And Netanyahu’s gesture is not enough to bring the PLO back to the table. The PLO prefers peace with Hamas over peace with Israel.

At the end of the day, Jews showing the Arabs how reasonable they are will not lead to peace.
