Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu officially confirmed Tuesday morning that Israel has agreed to a ceasefire with Iran, following what he described as the full achievement of the nation’s war objectives during Operation Rising Lion.

“In Operation ‘Rising Lion,’ the State of Israel achieved monumental historical successes and placed itself in line with the great powers of the world,” his office declared in a powerful statement. Netanyahu emphasized that Israel had no intention of prolonging the conflict unnecessarily, but would not hesitate to retaliate if Iran violates the truce.

The ceasefire, brokered by the United States and mediated by Qatar, was sealed following a phone call between Netanyahu and President Donald Trump. The agreement brings an end to a 12-day war that saw Israel neutralize a significant portion of Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure in a series of bold and precise airstrikes.

Trump later announced the ceasefire had taken effect via a message on Truth Social, writing in all caps: “THE CEASEFIRE IS NOW IN EFFECT. PLEASE DO NOT VIOLATE IT!” However, Israeli officials noted that the timing and manner of the announcement diverged from pre-arranged diplomatic protocol.

Despite the declaration, Iran launched six separate missile attacks on Israel in the hour leading up to the ceasefire, killing four Israelis and injuring more than 20. Israel’s security cabinet had convened Monday night, and Netanyahu instructed ministers to refrain from public statements, reinforcing the seriousness of the situation as the truce approached.

Throughout Operation Rising Lion, the IDF dismantled critical Iranian command posts, targeted missile storage sites, and conducted deep strikes against nuclear-related infrastructure. The coordinated efforts between Israeli and American forces marked one of the most successful joint military campaigns in recent history.

As the guns fall silent, Israel remains vigilant. The success of the campaign has redrawn the strategic map, placing Iran on the defensive and reaffirming Israel’s military dominance and intelligence capabilities. Netanyahu’s message is clear: peace is welcomed, but any violation will be met with immediate force.

  1. Does this mean that Iran’s leaders can now go back to enriching uranium? How can Israel and the rest of the West monitor what’s going on? I was hoping for regime change via a popular Iranian uprising, and the full surrender of the mullahs. Seems that’s not going to happen now. But it is still a huge achievement for Israel, and may G-d keep the IDF and Israel’s citizens safe from any more attacks.

The enrichment facilities are destroyed. Also, Iran can’t build these facilities without access to technology which will be prohibited to them, at least during Trump’s term.

Also, don’t count out regime change yet. But it remains the obligation of the Iranians to choose that path by themselves for the moment, which will prove to be potentially prohibitive. A truly devastating missed opportunity.
