Netanyahu Seeks Attorney General’s Authorization to Deport Terrorists’ Families From West Bank to Gaza

The prime minister says the move would ‘drastically reduce terrorist acts’ against Israelis.

By Barak Ravid, HAARETZ

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked the attorney general to approve deporting relatives of terrorists from the West Bank to the Gaza Strip.

“I believe that this will dramatically reduce terrorist activities against Israel, its citizens and its residents,” Netanyahu wrote Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit on Wednesday.

Netanyahu wrote that terrorists with a “lone wolf profile” have carried out many of the attacks in recent months. He added that the assailants sometimes come from families who encourage and abet their activities. “I request your legal opinion to allow the procedure of transferring families who assist terror to the Gaza Strip,” remarked Netanyahu.

Netanyahu sent the letter to Mandelblit although he knows well the attorney general’s position. A few days ago, Army Radio reported that during cabinet discussions Mandelblit clarified that deporting terrorists’ families to Gaza or Syria as Intelligence and Atomic Energy Minister Yisrael Katz proposed during one of the meetings contravenes Israeli law as well as international law.

Netanyahu said during a meeting of the Likud leadership in the Knesset on Monday that he and many cabinet ministers support deporting families of terrorists to Gaza. However, legal officials have yet to approve such a move. He added that he is interested in continuing to look into this issue with legal experts because he believes that deportation to Gaza will increase deterrence of potential terrorists.

  1. Lawfare Group Pursuing Class-Action ‘War Crimes’ Suit at International Criminal Court Against Palestinian Broadcasting Chiefs (VIDEO)

Shurat HaDin-The Israel Law Center intends to submit a complaint against Riyad al-Hassan and Ahmed Assaf for war crimes at the International Criminal Court at the Hague, after collecting thousands of signatures from plaintiffs, according to a video on its website and Facebook page.

Shurat HaDin told Army Radio on Wednesday that there is a precedent for such a suit, citing the lengthy prison sentences received by the heads of Rwanda’s TV and radio authority for war crimes, following incitement to murder during the civil war in that country.

This is not the first time The Algemeiner has reported on Shurat HaDin targeting incitement. In October, the organization – founded and run by attorney Nitsana Darshan-Leitner – collected signatures for a class-action suit against Facebook,…

The GOI would have never done this because of all the under the table deals with the arabs.
shurat ha din is one of the few effective groups in the fight against defamation of Israel and anti semitism. Israel hasbara not only is ineffective it is the wrong vehicle. MOre support should be given to Lawfare orgs like this.

  2. SodaStream CEO: Idiotic Israeli red tape, not BDS, got Palestinians fired

Government says permits were rescinded because of preference for Israeli workers, not for security reasons; after laying off final 74 Palestinian employees, Daniel Birnbaum vows to somehow find work for them in West Bank

On top of his anger, Birnbaum said he was also “ashamed” — ashamed of what he called a blunder by the government of a country for which he cares deeply.

……“Who has the moral right” to take away that income? Birnbaum asked.

Now we see that the real sodastream story is not about BDS and Israel its about birnbaum and his profits and politics.

Instead of denouncing BDS, the euros, the PA he denounces Israel because he could not bring his pet pals from the west bank into the homeland to add to the risk. This self centered glutton thinks only of himself… DUH…..If the representative gov of his workers is promoting BDS which forces his factory to leave he beleives that those workers should then get jobs in Israel. On the contrary, any jobs lost by pals due to their govs BDS should be prohibited from being had in Israel. Why should pals be rewarded for their BDS with jobs in Israel.

Birnbaum disgusts me…. did it ever occur to him that Israelis dont want more of the stabbing jew killer cultural adherents in their home? Birnbaum bites the hand that feeds him, blaming it on Israel is beyond beleif. Israel is under attack by BDS, his own factory was forced to close… and all he thinks of is the interests of the pals. It would be best if he moved his factory to area A. I no longer support sodastream.

  3. @ Bear Klein:
    especially for you:

19 years later, Jordan Valley town gets building approval

After a construction freeze of 19 years, Defense Minister signs off on urban building plan – is it a sign of approaching sovereignty?

..Hemdat, a town in the Jordan Valley that has had its construction frozen for the past 19 years.

When asked what prevented the granting of the permission until now, Kuperman said no valid reason existed for the delay.

“There was no problem. We are on state land. Also in terms of plans there was no problem, and the urban building plan could have been passed ten years ago,” he said

Kuperman noted that in Judea, Samaria and the Jordan Valley, urban building plans have to pass through several steps in order to reach the Defense Minister’s approval, and afterwards there are another seven to ten steps that need to occur.

BK can finally say “see, BB did something outside the euro designated ghetto boundaries”
    But did he??????
Didnt he also approve building in E1?
There are “seven to 10 more steps to go until building can even begin”.
any wagers on whether anything gets built?

In addition, roads and infrastructure have not been developed or maintained for nearly 20 years – but now that all is set to change.

“As a town of law-abiding citizens who want to develop the (Jordan) Valley and the entire country, this delayed us. We couldn’t draw up contracts for the purchase and sale of houses. It delayed all development of life here,”

Gosh, they should have said they were building Muslim homes and BB would have let them build with euro help for the past 7 years.

  4. Netanyahu sent the letter to Mandelblit although he knows well the attorney general’s position.

as one of the resident cynics my perspective is that it is BB’s MO to appt folks to act as his foil when he does not want a right wing agenda to fly but wants the credit of having fought the good fight. If Manderbuilt could not shoot it down the leftist court would then shoot it down and BB made sure that the Shaked reform of the leftist court would not pass. Manderbuilt already gave his position…. however had BB appointed an AG who sought to achieve the positions of a right wing gov I feel confident he would be able to find the right legal justification for doing it and if not it then becomes BB’s responsibility to seek new legislation to change the law as well as the supreme court. BB loses nothing by saying he wants to deport terror families because he already knows it is not going through.

Manderbuilt is the same one who did not want to demolish the home of the terror family dad who turned in his own son. But Manderbuilt proves to be laughingly naive because those who teach their sons martyrdom also teach their son to expect death and then teach their son that they will turn him in to save the family struggle and the war against the jews.

But did he turn him in really? He told the cops what they were bound to find out and he did not lead them to the site where he was. apparently relatives were feeding him and the village knew …. therefore the father was likely part of it. Manderbuilt merely succeeded in removing one more deterrent because the next family who sends their son to die in jew stabbing martyrdom will do the same and keep their house.

any wagers on whether the terror family will be sent to gaza?
