Socialists, globalists, and Jew-haters were soundly rejected by British voters yesterday, and that has got to worry United States Democrats, many of whom have embraced these political positions.  Pollsters who had warned that the race was tightening were repudiated by voters who handed a historic landslide outcome to Boris Johnson’s Conservative party, which is now reckoned to end up with an 86 seat majority when all the results are tabulated.  Even more pointed for the Democrats is the fact that Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour Party has dipped below 200 seats for the first time in almost a century and has lost seats in the industrial Midlands and North that have been secure for it for over a century.

United Kingdom and the United States are not identical, so there are limits to the parallels that can be drawn, but there are plenty of reasons to believe that similar tectonic forces are at work in both nations. If you think this is mistaken conservative triumphalism, don’t take it from me, take it from lefty Jonathan Chait, writing in the New Yorker that “American Leftists Believed Corbyn’s Inevitable Victory Would Be Their Model.”

New poll shows Left-Arab bloc winning 61-seat majority even without support from Liberman, as Blue and White surges to 37 seats.

The Blue and White party has gained ground on the Likud, a new poll shows, with the center-left party surging to 37 seats, compared to just 31 for the Likud.

According to a new poll conducted by Maagar Mohot and released by Israel Hayom Friday morning, if new elections were held today, the left-wing – Arab bloc would win an outright majority of 61 seats in the 23rd Knesset, a gain of four seats over its current 57 seats; while the right-wing – religious bloc would fall to 51 seats, four less than its current 55. That is the poorest showing for the right-wing – religious bloc in any poll conducted in the past year.

“If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood-shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves.”

Whenever you hear the gruesome shriek in Arabic, “Allahu Akbar” preceding yet another Muslim atrocity, be it in Europe, the UK, here in America or worldwide, it is worth remembering those words of Churchill and what it will mean to live as slaves.

President Trump is expected to issue an executive order that Jews should be treated as a “nationality*” as well as a religious group. This means that Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bans the use of federal funds for programs or activities that discriminate on the basis of “race, color, or national origin,” will now apply to antisemitism. And an administration official has said that the government would use the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism, which the State Department adopted in 2016, as a working definition of antisemitism (a previous working definition in use from 2010 is similar in relevant respects).

This is a big deal, because the extreme anti-Zionism (misoziony) that characterizes the discourse on many Western colleges and universities clearly falls under the IHRA definition, which specifically mentions

A victory for Brexit and capitalism

After the Partition Plan was voted on in November 1947, Ben Gurion was under a lot of pressure not to declare a state, particularly from the US State Department. He was warned that the US wouldn’t recognize the state and would maintainits arms embargoe on Israel. He was told that 6 Arab countries would invade and destroy the new state within about 3 months.

Ben Gurion recognized its was now or never and believed that half a loaf was better than no loaf. So he opted to declare the state of Israel, as soon as the Mandate ended, in May ’48 .  Israel was immediately invaded by 6 Arab countries. The British were supplying the Arabs with arms to destroy israel and were preventing Israel from accumulating arms with which to defend themselves.

What U.S. interests does the bloated bureaucracy advance — at our expense?

While the political class obsessed over act two of the House impeachment hearings while normal people ignored them, NATO met in London for an international photo-op and a celebration of the treaty’s 70^th anniversary. Nothing of substance happened, and no needed reforms were discussed. Thirty years after the collapse of the Soviet Union made NATO irrelevant, no one can say what strategic purpose this bloated bureaucracy serves, nor how––despite being financed mainly by the U.S––it advances U.S. interests and security.

Of course we were treated to the usual claims that “NATO kept the peace” in Europe during the Cold War, along with the other institutions of the “rules-based international order.” This globalist marketing slogan is hard to credit. The postwar Europeans were in no condition to fight each other, because most had neither the matériel nor the morale to fight with. Nor did NATO keep the Soviets out of Europe: that was accomplished by 70,000 American nuclear warheads and 400,000 American troops. The contributions of European pygmy-militaries to American military capability were in the end comparatively minimal.

T. Belman. I support Saar for the same reasons Saar is challenging him. Bibi never delivered on his promises regarding settlement construction, E-1 and destruction of illegal homes. Nor was he aggressive enough with Hamas. There are other policy positions that I disagree with.

Also Bibi had two tries to come up with a coalition and didn’t succeed. He should have made demands on UTJ and Shas to compromise. I have heard nothing to suggest he will succeed next time.

I see Bibi as the problem, not the solution. I believe that many people avoid the right because of his image and his indictments. Saar will attract more people from the center to back him because he is not Bibi. Meanwhile Bennett is doing a great job as Def Min.

David Bitan announces he has enough signatures to force secret vote in Likud Central Committee, hours after PM agrees to go up against challenger Gideon Sa’ar

Likud strongman David Bitan announced just after midnight Wednesday that he has enough signatures to call a secret vote on cancelling the party leadership vote, a major setback for MK Gideon Sa’ar who was planning to mount the first serious challenge to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s 14-year hold on the party.

Bitan’s announcement came just minutes after the Knesset dissolved itself, meaning third elections in less than a year are a certainty, and just hours after the Netanyahu and Likud Central Committee Chairman MK Haim Katz had agreed on December 26 as the date for leadership primaries.

Likud leadership candidate Gideon Sa’ar symbolically began his campaign on Tuesday by touring sites in the Jordan Valley that are seen as a symbol of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s broken promises.

Netanyahu promised ahead of the September election to annex the Jordan Valley. Ahead of past elections, he has visited the E-1 site between Jerusalem and Ma’aleh Adumim, and promised to build there. He vowed in an October 2018 cabinet building to remove the Bedouin shantytown of Khan al-Ahmar adjoining Rte. 1.

Sa’ar pointed out on the tour that Netanyahu has not kept any of those promises. He also reacted to hints from Netanyahu in a speech on Sunday that Sa’ar would not be as loyal to Judea and Samaria.
