Did Al Baghdadi’s elimination stand behind US retreat?

T. Belman. It is important to note that Bagdati’s compound’s was roughly three-and-a-half miles south of the border with Turkey and a little more from the Turkish settlement of Kavalcik. Osama ben Ladin, when killed, had been hiding in Pakistan. Conclude what yo0u will.

What Trump has done is put a stop to the conflict between Turkety and the Syrian Kurds and shifted the Kurds to the south where they will be of great assistance in protecting the oil fields and containing Iran.

According to uncorroborated statements by Iraqi protest leader Dr. Nakeeb Saadoon, “The US gave up on the Kurds because Turkey gave Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi to the US.”

By Rachel Avraham, INN

In recent days, many people are disturbed by President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from Syria, pondering what the logic was behind it.  Their feeling is that a hasty US withdrawal from Syria strengthens Iran and Assad and that all the gains made by the US against ISIS are now in jeopardy. Given how much the Kurds contributed to the US-led war against terrorism, they maintain, they do not deserve to fall victim to Erdogan’s genocidal ambitions or to live under the Iranian axis. The Kurds are US allies and some even see the Syrian Kurds as friends of the State of Israel despite their mistreatment of Jews under their control and overt antisemitism..

US retreat from Syria likely prevented war with Iran

T. Belman. I admire Mark for swimming upstream and taking the heat by defending Trump’s decision. My information is that Trump has cut a deal with Putin to stabelize North Syria and protect the Kurds. Putin is still allowing Israel and the US to act to contain and pushback Iran. Trump is still calling the shots. He simply redeployed to the south.

Trump has learne the lessons of history and does not want to repeat it.

By Mark Langfan, INN  –30/10/19 07:35

[..]

It’s a simple military axiom: At all costs, avoid a two-front war.

In their hysteria, the anti-Trump “defend the Kurds from a NATO ‘Ally’” crowd seems to have forgotten that in the Middle East, apart from the Turks and Kurds, there is a real possibility of war brewing between Iran, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States. America has tens of thousands of its soldiers in the Gulf area and in the Iranian line of fire.  Given the volatile Iranian Front, President Trump made the necessary military decision, and avoided facing a Turkish Northern Front, all the while reinforcing forces against the likelihood of an Iranian attack in the Persian Gulf. President Trump’s executive command decision likely has saved thousands of American soldiers’ lives.

With all the Trump-bashing on “The View” talk show and in the halls of Congress, one would have thought the Kurds were an actual NATO ally.  Let’s recall some of the facts that President Trump was aware of when he made his North Syria retreat decision:

Trump, Israel and the Democratic Crack-Up

Israel has good reason to be deeply worried.

By Caroline Glick, FPM

Nearly every week, the Democrats reach new heights of radicalism. Israel has good reason to be deeply worried.

Until 2000, the peaceful transition of power in the wake of elections was a feature of American democracy that everyone took for granted. In 2000, the Democrats shifted. They refused to accept the election results in Florida that gave Bush his victory in the state, and through it, in the electoral college, until the Supreme Court ruled that the results were legitimate. Even afterwards, many Democrats considered Bush’s victory and his presidency illegitimate.

Democrat party’s radicalization

In retrospect, the Democrats’ refusal to accept the legitimacy of the 2000 election results marked the beginning of the party’s radicalization.

The mask is off: Lebanon is Hezbollah

“Lebanon” has not existed for quite some time. The country’s agenda is dictated by Tehran, and its military and economy are designed to serve the needs of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

by Dr. Mordechai Kedar, ISRAEL HAYOM

I have some news for my readers: there has been no state of Lebanon for some time now. The entity to the north of us is nothing but a mask covering up the bitter reality – the state is a state of Hezbollah, and its ruler is Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Its agenda is dictated by Tehran, Hezbollah’s army is stronger than the official Lebanese army, and the economy is designed to serve Nasrallah’s goals.

The Lebanese parliament, government, president, and all other state institutions are nothing more than a façade for players directed by Nasrallah, who also decides on what they will be paid for “good behavior” and whether his collaborators can collect favors from the corruption that is running rampant.

Avi Bell, Attorney for Netanyahu: What If the Prime Minister Never Received a Bribe?

By Alex Traiman, JEWISH PRESS  October 30, 2019

This week, a recording of a conversation between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the owner of Israel’s Yediot Achronot newspaper, Arnon Mozes, was released to the press.

The clip, one of many recordings being used as evidence in Case 2000—one of three cases in which Israel’s Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit may soon issue formal indictments against the prime minister—demonstrates an attempt by Netanyahu to secure more favorable coverage in one of Israel’s largest papers.

A steady stream of leaks from all three cases have been gifted to the media for the purpose of souring much of Israel’s political establishment and public on Netanyahu’s otherwise intractable reign as Israel’s longest-serving prime minister.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who is running for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, stated on Monday at the annual J Street Conference in Washington, D.C., that a portion of the U.S. military assistance to Israel should go towards humanitarian relief in the Gaza Strip.

“I would use the leverage of $3.8 billion,” Sanders said, referring to the 10-year Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Israel negotiated by former President Barack Obama. “It is a lot of money, and we cannot give it carte blanche to the Israeli government or, for that matter, to any government at all. We have a right to demand respect for human rights and democracy.”

Congress must immediately pass a fresh AUMF for NE Syria

There is no other site where the American flag can be reliably planted while uniquely depending upon Kurdish Peshmerga to achieve conjoint security goals.

KURDNAS President Sherkoh Abbas, Robert Sklaroff, MD  27/10/19 12:02 | updated: 14:00

Within a fortnight—triggered by President Trump’s abrupt relocation of American protection for Kurds in the Rojava—the Russians have helped Turkey consolidate its ethnic cleansing of Kurdish cantons and have flipped to coveting the oil-rich region of NE-Syria now peacefully governed by the Kurds.

Accompanying this historic blunder have been misstatements and smears that have relegated Kurds’ valiant efforts to avoid being massacred to a schoolyard scuffle with the parties to be separated “after they fight a bit”:  “We have no troops in Syria, and want to negotiate between the Turks and the Kurds….Kurds aren’t angels…Did Kurds help us in Normandy?”

US Mid-East forces relocate out of Iranian cruise missile range. The IDF begins overhaul

DEBKA

Oct 29, 2019 @ 7:38

The US like Israel has no adequate answer for Iran’s cruise missile and drone warfare. This was the subtext of PM Binyamin Netanyahu’s warning on Monday, Oct. 28, that Tehran is deploying those missiles against Israel in Yemen, as well as Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, at a joint news conference with visiting US Secretary Treasury Steven Mnunchin.

This alarming gap in US and Israeli defenses shot into sight in the Sept. 14, Iranian attack on Saudi oil infrastructure.  It has galvanized the US armed forces into starting to remove sensitive elements out of range, DEBKAfile’s military sources report.

Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations on Monday blasted Turkey’s invasion of Syria, and accused Ankara of promoting anti-Semitism and the ethnic cleansing of Kurds.

Danny Danon told the Security Council’s monthly Middle East meeting that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan “has been destabilizing the region through violence and supporting terror organizations,” adding that Turkey’s “shocking” incursion into Syria had come as no surprise.

Once-warm relations between Israel and Turkey have greatly deteriorated since Erdogan came to power. The Islamist leader is a vocal critic of Israeli policies toward the Palestinians, particularly in Gaza, and he has good relations with the territory’s terrorist Hamas rulers.

U.S. Launches New Mission in Syria, Vows to Give Oil Revenue to the Kurds

Pentagon chief says that he has seen no sign of Syrian or Russian forces challenging U.S. control of Syrian oil fields

The Associated Press and Haaretz Oct 29, 2019

Pivoting from the dramatic killing of the Islamic State’s leader, the Pentagon is increasing U.S. efforts to protect Syria’s oil fields from the extremist group as well as from Syria itself and the country’s Russian allies. It’s a new high-stakes mission even as American troops are withdrawn from other parts of the country.

Defense Secretary Mark Esper says the military’s oil field mission also will ensure income for Syrian Kurds who are counted on by Washington to continue guarding Islamic State prisoners and helping American forces combat remnants of the group — even as President Donald Trump continues to insist all U.S. troops will come home.

Trump: “Islamists and their ideology must be defeated.”

T. Belman.  Trump has always said that we must defeat “the Islamists and their ideology”.  He repeated this refrain in 2017 when speaking to a conference of Islamic countries in Riyadh at which timethe Islamic countries committed themselves to it.

JIHAD WATCH

[..]

The problem is, neither the President nor the Congressman (nor most other politicians and pundits, for that matter) is looking for the nest from which the hornets continue to be hatched and sent. Until the nest is found and destroyed, the incursions will continue. What Western leaders desperately need to understand is that ISIS, Boko Haram, Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood and its brood of viper organizations, al-Qaeda, AQAP, al-Shabaab, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, the IRGC, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizb-ut-Tahrir, Abu Sayyaf and scores of other Muslim jihadi groups are only symptoms, not the source. They are merely angry hornets, looking for whomever they can sting, but destroying them will not rid the world of Islamic terrorism. To do that, we must destroy the nest which endlessly produces them.

Nikki Haley fires back at Bernie Sanders

“Just when you thought Bernie Sanders couldn’t get any more radical, he outdid himself,” Nikki Haley, former US ambassador to the UN, tweeted on Monday. Sanders, who is running for the Democratic presidential nomination, said to a J Street audience: “It is not anti-Semitism to say the Netanyahu government has been racist. That’s a fact.” He suggested that the US aid to Israel be redirected to Gaza instead. Halley shot back: “He wants the money we give to Israel to defend itself from terrorists and give it to Gaza, which is run by terrorists. Unreal. Why isn’t every other Dem presidential candidate saying he’s wrong?”

AfD: What you need to know about Germany’s rightwing party

Winning 23.4 percent of the vote in Sunday’s parliamentary election, the anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany, or AfD party — propelled by male voters and those under the age of 60 — is now the second strongest party in the former east German state of Thuringia.

DW looks at the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, the third-largest group in the Bundestag. Its main appeal is its opposition to Angela Merkel’s welcoming policy toward migrants.

Wahlen AfD Plakat (picture-alliance/NurPhoto/M. Fludra)

From anti-EU to anti-immigration

When it was formed in 2013, the AfD’s main thrust was its opposition to bailouts of indebted European Union member states like Greece. But over time, it has become, first and foremost, an anti-immigration party.

The AfD completely rejects Chancellor Angela Merkel’s welcoming policy toward refugees, particularly from the Arab world, which saw more than 1.5 million migrants arrive in Germany since 2015. The party wants to change Germany’s constitution to get rid of the right to an individual hearing in asylum cases and would seek to immediately deport all those whose applications to remain in Germany are rejected, regardless of whether the countries to which deportees are sent back are safe or not. It also advocates foreigners who commit crimes in Germany being sentenced to prisons outside the country and treating minors as young as 12 as adults for certain offenses.

A result of Trump’s pullout: Turkey unmasked

President Trump should immediately convene an emergency NATO Ministers meeting.

By Mark Langfan, INN

With President Donald Trump as our Intelligence analyst, who needs all the hundreds if not thousands of CIA and Military Intelligence personnel? President Trump is a one-man real-time military intelligence laboratory.

If not for Trump’s move, think how many conferences would have taken place, how many secret and totally misguided intelligence briefs would have been written on whether Turkey had fully evolved into an Islamic caliphate and an implacable arch-enemy of NATO. Turkey is a member of NATO and therefore supposed to be an ally, not a genocidal Islamic regime.

Strategic practical businessman Donald Trump cuts through all the fog of US and Turkish military alliance inertia, and gives Turkey’s would-be “Caliph” Erdogan all the rope he needs to hang himself, exposing Turkey for what that country has become – the principal enemy of NATO at the gates of Europe.

Jews Will Not Abandon the Democrats, Even as the Democrats have Abandoned Them

By Abraham H. Miller, AMERICAN THINKER

The quip among Jewish Republicans about President Obama’s trafficking with anti-Semites was that he was so popular with American Jews that had he nuked Tel Aviv, he would have lost no more than 30% of the Jewish vote.

The affinity for American Jews for the Democrat Party has long been a political curiosity. The distinguished essayist Milton Himmelfarb observed that in America, Jews had attained the socioeconomic status of Episcopalians, but for some reason they continued to vote like Puerto Ricans.

Nothing seems to dissolve the sinew that ties Jews to the Democrats. President Obama’s association with the anti-Semitic Rev. Jeremiah Wright brought a collective yawn. Photos of Barrack Obama embracing the Rev. Louis Farrakhan, who compared Jews to termites, did not concern them.

Iran is pushing Iraq to the brink. Iraqis are fighting back.

By Behnam Ben Taleblu, FDD  Thursday, 10 October 2019

Protesters in Iraq are fighting against government corruption and Iran’s malign influence, which is built on hard power, not public good will. Tehran has a lot to lose.

“Iran and Iraq are two nations whose hearts & souls are tied together,” tweeted Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Sunday, as protests raged in neighboring Iraq. Alleging that the protests are a foreign plot, Khamenei continued, “Enemies seek to sow discord but they’ve failed & their conspiracy won’t be effective.”

Khamenei’s response is proof of panic. Iraq is a pivotal part of Iran’s political project in the Middle East, and a friendly government in Baghdad cannot afford to be lost.

Iraqi students join thousands in ongoing anti-gov’t protests

Nationwide demonstrations continue after scores of Iraqis were killed in clashes with security forces over two days.

Students in Iraq have joined anti-government protests in Baghdad as thousands stood fast in the capital’s central Tahrir Square, defying a bloody crackdown that killed scores over the weekend and an overnight raid by security forces seeking to disperse them.

Several schools and universities decided to shut their doors, activists said on Sunday, with some protesting on campus and others heading towards the main gathering spaces for rallies.

Young men had erected barricades on a bridge leading to the capital’s fortified Green Zone against security forces who continued to lob tear gas canisters towards them.

Trump’s SyrIa withdrawal is actually a stroke of genius

In the maelstrom of Trump-hatred, the pundits have focused on the 2% negative and ignored the 98% positive effects of Trump’s withdrawal.

By Mark Langfan, INN

All the Trump-Haters, and not a few Trump supporters, have gone completely hysterical over President Trump’s decision to have  American forces retreat from Northern Syria.  In reality, Pres. Trump’s Syria withdrawal, and its likely concomitant redeployment to western Iraq, is a genius-level strategic move that will, in the short to medium term, stabilize Syria, and present Iran with great difficulties.

In the maelstrom of Trump-hatred, the pundits have focused on the 2% negative and ignored the 98% positive effects of Trump’s withdrawal. In the big picture of Syria, however, one has to take three steps back and realize that in Syria we are only in Act 2 of a 5 act play and there is no question that Trump’s move has achieved a major win for America in the entire Syrian drama.

The mother of all the Syrian myths is that Trump has allowed “Assad to win.”  It was President Obama who almost ensured an Assad “win” in the medium term when he reneged on his “red line” and openly invited Putin and Russia into Syria.  Once America had sanctioned Russia’s protection of Assad, how was America going to then get rid of Assad without starting a war with Russia? And once Putin became the protector of Assad, Putin became the protector of the genocidal murderer of hundreds of thousands of Sunni Arabs.

The caliph is dead — now, here’s how the US can exit from Syria

By Jim Hanson, FOX NEWS

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, former leader of ISIS, was killed in a raid by U.S. Army Delta Force and Rangers in Syria. This is a momentous occasion with at least as much significance strategically as the death of Al Qaeda head Usama bin Laden. We can now identify a clear end point for the Islamic State caliphate in Iraq and Syria because the self-proclaimed caliph himself is dead.

Baghdadi and bin Laden led rival views of jihadist conquest. Al Qaeda preferred to remain dispersed and occasionally pop up to conduct terror attacks. They grew affiliated groups in many places, but never tried to hold ground as if they were a nation. ISIS, however, quite obviously ran up their black flag of jihad in Iraq and Syria and ruled a large quasi-state with oil revenue and even rudimentary government for several years.

The success Baghdadi achieved is worth noting. For a while there was a physical caliphate the global jihad could point to and claim they had accomplished a major goal of the Islamist movement worldwide. But even if they thought it would last and grow, their atrocities meant the civilized world could never countenance that.
