Our Drones Are Tracking, Ready To Strike American Bases Throughout The Region;
Mojtaba Zonnour, the Chairman of National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in Iran’s Majlis, said in an October 11, 2019 interview on Channel 5 (Iran) that Iran employs a strategy of deterrence and asymmetric warfare that renders its enemies’ strengths ineffective by exploiting their weaknesses. He said that Israel would be destroyed within 30 minutes if America or Israel make a “mistake” and that Iranian drones are tracking activity in American military bases as far as Diego Garcia Island. Zonnour said that the Iranians “have registration fire” on most of the American bases in the area and threatened that they will be struck if Iran is attacked. In addition, Zonnour said that adhering to a “culture of resistance” will guarantee Iran’s security. Read more…

The current situation in Gaza—and the accompanying misery—are the direct result of the misguided attempt to foist statehood on the Palestinian-Arabs.
…Arafat was sober, businesslike, almost in awe of the scale of the problems that he faces in turning this impoverished strip of land into the paradise that many of his people expect will come from self-rule – Los Angeles Times, July 2, 1994 – On Yasser Arafat’s return to Gaza following the signing of the Oslo Accords.
We predicted some years ago that Gaza would fast become unlivable on a host of indicators and that deadline is actually approaching even faster than we predicted — from health access, to energy to water – Robert Piper, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations Development Coordination, The Times of Israel, July 11, 2017.

MOSCOW — Following the deal the presidents of Russia and Turkey negotiated in Sochi, the two countries are moving forward with practical steps on the ground. Still, there’s some political messaging to be conveyed to other interested parties and steps on the ground to ensure the initiative goes as planned.
“The United States was the closest ally of the Kurds over the past few years. But in the end, the United States abandoned the Kurds, actually betraying them. The United States opted to abandon the Kurds on the border, almost forcing them to fight against the Turks,” said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
His comments were a reaction to US Syria envoy James Jeffrey, who stated earlier that the Russia-Turkey deal was “full of holes.” Jeffrey also observed that the Russian commitments to the Turks were “very vague.”
Following the Putin-Erdogan meeting, President Donald Trump called the latest developments around Syria “good news.”
Howard Rotberg. While the media and the universities keep up their political correctness, moral and cultural relativism, and adoption of ideologies and policies that promote the Leftist-Islamist alliance, I am proud that we at Mantua Books continue to publish serious books by some of the world’s greatest and most moral writers. Mantua Books is Canada’s only publisher of conservative values and pro-Israel books. We also have produced a new documentary, Conservative Authors in Canada.

Having smashed the numerous legal barriers impeding formal racial, ethnic, and gender equality, the 1960s civil rights revolution left many Americans expecting more racial and ethnic harmony. Many realistically believed that the prophecies of civil rights’ martyr Reverend Martin Luther King of an America judging its citizens by the content of their character and not their ascribed identities was now within reach. And indeed there has been unimaginable progress, which is best captured by growing white acceptance of Afro-Americans as actual and putative marriage partners. Between 1980 and 2008 black and white intermarriage rates tripled.

Jewish leaders in the U.S., and pundits in the Israeli press, have generally been critical of President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from a Syria-Turkey border zone, concerned about the fate of the Kurdish people. Some describe it as a bad omen for Israel.
That concern, while legitimate, ignores Trump’s long-term strategy in the region and the legitimate interest Turkey has in removing an armed force from its border — an interest Israel shares.
Israel has invaded southern Lebanon in two previous wars to disarm terrorist militias that had used the territory to launch terror attacks against its civilians.

Turkish citizens are wildly optimistic about the invasion of Syria that began Oct. 9. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s decision finds broad support within Turkey, including from all the major opposition parties except the pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party. The incursion is understood domestically not only as a measure to protect the country from the Kurdish forces Mr. Erdogan calls “terrorists,” but also to affirm Turkey’s status as a power; Ankara no longer must bow to the wishes of Washington, Berlin or Moscow.
Then there’s the pessimistic view, the one I share. The invasion damages Turkey internationally: Western and Arab governments have condemned the military operation, as have the Russian, Iranian, Indian and Chinese governments. Volkswagen paused a planned investment in Turkey, and other companies may follow suit. Congress is weighing economic sanctions. Italy, France and Germany have suspended arms sales. Tensions are heightening between Turks and Kurds in Germany, and will likely rise within Turkey as well.

What I’m about to write will probably be off-putting, even offensive to some Western readers. But it’s a subject that is extremely relevant to life in much of the rest of the world, especially in the Middle East. Everyone knows that tribal identity plays an important role here, more so than in the West. And there is a related idea that is no less important.
I’m talking about honor, and what I believe to be the moral imperative to maintain one’s honor and the honor of one’s tribe or nation.
Right now, the Tikkunists of liberal Judaism (and liberal Christianity as well) are running for the exits. According to the philosophy espoused by liberal, humanistic Westerners, the only moral considerations are those that relate to not hurting others and being fair to all. Indeed, many believe that tribalism and nationalism are actually immoral, because they imply treating outsiders and insiders differently.

T. Belman. Just as I have been saying, the US and Russia have been working to find a solution to the “Kurdish problem” for at least a year and they appear to have found one via “Decentralized Democratic Syria” instead of a federal solution. The Kurds had no objection to cutting a deal with Syria and Russia so long as they were protected from the Turks and retained their ethnic identity.
All this was agreed to before Trump announced his withdrawal. A few days later everything was resolved between all parties.

The French state has created its own destruction and its police forces are vainly attempting to fight the inevitable.

Just four typical French headlines in one week.
According to information from BFM TV, “27 officials from the Paris police headquarters have been reported for radicalization since last October 3”, when one of their colleagues, the convert to Islam Michael Harpon, murdered four people inside the Paris’ prefecture.
The multiplication of these reports can be explained by an internal note sent on October 7 by Didier Lallement, the prefect of police, in which he encouraged officials to denounce “signs of a possible radicalization”.
Two policemen have been relieved of their arms due to fears of their radicalization, enquiries have been launched about policemen attending suspected terrorists, a USB with the names of other agents has been found in the desk of the Jihadist who worked in the heart of anti-terrorism office and the media published stories about “black lists” with the names of policemen suspected of Islamism …. It is a sign of the panic in the French security forces.

Only some of the thousand US troops on their way out of northern Syria will leave. Others will remain “to keep the Bashar al-Assad regime and Iranian forces away from Syria’s oil fields,” while one air base may also be retained.
This was decided by President Donald Trump early Thursday, Oct. 24 at the end of a day’s briefing by James Jeffrey, his special adviser on Syria. “We do contemplate, I believe, maintaining one of our two airfields there,” he said.
A US air force presence in northern Syria will allow American attack helicopters and armed drones to retain control over North Syrian air space and its border with Iraq. DEBKAfile’s military sources report that the air base in question is located at Rmeilan in the Kurdish province of Hasaka facing the Iraqi border. According to the earlier decision, too, the US will not leave the large Al Tanf garrison which sits strategically on the Syrian-Iraqi-Jordanian border junction. The latter also commands Syria’s oil and gas fields as well as the southern sections of the Syrian-Iraqi border.
President Reuven Rivlin presents Blue and White party leader Benny Gantz with the mandate to form a new Israeli government, after PM Netanyahu’s failure to form one, at the President’s Residence in Jerusalem on October 23, 2019. (GALI TIBBON / AFP)
President Reuven Rivlin on Wednesday tasked Benny Gantz, the Blue and White party leader, with forming Israel’s next government, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced earlier this week that he had failed to do so.
Gantz, like Netanyahu before him, now has 28 days to try and form a government, though the prime minister-designate is seen as being no more likely to manage the task.
Gantz promised to build a government of national reconciliation, and said he would invite Netanyahu and his Likud to be part of it. He also reached out to Israel’s ultra-Orthodox community. “An entire nation is waiting to sigh with relief” that the political deadlock is over, he said.

Iran wanted to help Iraq organize a major religious pilgrimage, but when it offered to send tens of thousands of police officers, Iraq said no thanks.

KARBALA, Iraq — The annual ceremony commemorating a founding figure of Shiite Islam is one of the most important religious celebrations in the Shiite world, drawing millions of pilgrims to the holy city of Karbala, Iraq.
This year, the Arbaeen ceremony was also a political skirmish — the latest test of Iran’s power in Iraq and of Iraq’s increasing desire for independence from its powerful neighbor.
Iran, the largest Shiite Muslim country in the world and a regional powerhouse in the Middle East, saw the pilgrimage that ended Saturday as an opportunity to assert its role in Iraq and send a message about its regional reach.

Shoshana Bryen, Jewish Policy Center- Senior Director. “My Iraq contact says the opposite – Iraqis – Shiites in the south – are demanding that Iran leave Iraq. This is huge.
They’re also demonstrating against their majority Shiite government. The government killed up to 500 protesters (this has not been reported in the US) and had to issue a) a formal apology and b) announce it would talk to the demonstrators. Iran didn’t like it, but some things can’t be helped.
Iraq was also unhappy that Iran used its territory to launch the attack on Saudi Arabia (also unreported here).
There has always been tension between Iranian – Persian – Shiites and Iraqi – Arab – Shiites, and now the Iraqi Arab Shiites and the Iraqi Sunni Arabs are finally agreeing that Iranians don’t help. There has always also been Iraqi nationalism.
I wouldn’t be so quick to determine for them what they’ll do.”

Protesters in Iraq are fighting against government corruption and Iran’s malign influence, which is built on hard power, not public good will. Tehran has a lot to lose.
T. Belman. Trump chose to disengage from Syria and the Kurds. What’s wrong with that? Unless you think that the US should have stayed in Syria forever. The US tried to negotiate a syrian deal for a few years but were unsuccessful. The Kurds and ISIS are now Russia’s problem. What’s wrong with that?
Remember that the Kurds cut a deal with Russia a few days ago to stem the Turkish assault.
Trump has stated that he is holding on to the oil fields in eastern Syria with a view to developing them with the profits going to the Kurds.
Moscow (CNN)Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met in the southern Russian resort city of Sochi on Tuesday with a shared agenda of shaping the endgame in Syria’s eight-year civil war.
The two leaders unveiled a 10-point memorandum of understanding with an unstated bottom line: The Americans do not have a place in shaping the future of Syria.
T. Belman. No mention of Turkey’s plan to settle the area with Syrian refugees now living in Turkey.
Also no mention of what Russia intends to do with the rest of eastern Syria lying to the south of this zone.

Russian and Turkish leaders have made a deal to share control of Syria’s northeast that requires Kurdish fighters to clear the entire length of the Syria-Turkey border.
The deal allows Turkey to maintain control of areas it pushed into launching its offensive into Syria earlier this month.

I realize how provocative, absurd and even monstrous this question might sound, and yet … does Israel need peace?
The distinguishing element of the recent elections was obvious: they were built on hatred for the head of government and for a specific group in Israeli society – in this case, the haredim (aka Ultra-Orthodox) andl Religious Zionists, part of the current coalition. All the other problems were pushed to the side. A horde of people was led by clear and poorly veiled hatred. This is not a novelty.
Latest IMF projections predict China’s GDP growth to slow to 5.8% by 2020
WANG ZHAO/AFP/Getty ImagesIf you thought China’s 6% growth rate for this year’s third quarter — which indicates that the country is growing at its slowest pace in nearly 30 years — was bad, brace for worse.
The International Monetary Fund predicts that the Chinese gross domestic product will grow at a rate of 5.8% in 2020, according to its World Economic Outlook published over the weekend. Six months ago, the IMF had forecast a growth rate of 6.1%.
