France’s plan to use its position at the UN Security Council to bring about the deployment of international monitors to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem has been condemned by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ministers as biased, unhelpful and detached from reality.

Certainly it is all those things. But France’s decision to use its diplomatic position to advance a plan which if implemented would end Israeli sovereignty over Judaism’s holiest site is first and foremost a French act of aggression against the Jewish state.

Contrary to what the French government would have us believe, France’s Temple Mount gambit is not an effort to quell the violence. French protestations of concern over the loss of life in the current tempest of Palestinian terrorism ring hollow.

The uniqueness of the current outbreak of violence is that those driving it are the young Palestinians of East Jerusalem, who demonstrate willingness to confront Israeli military and police forces and engage in acts of sacrifice. The events in Jerusalem refute three basic assumptions that thus far have guided the policy of the Israeli government.

The first is that the status quo is sustainable, not only on the Temple Mount, but also in Israel’s greater regional strategic situation, and that any alternative would have more negative implications than those of the current situation.

This morning I watched Megyn Kelly interview Brooke Goldstein, the head of Lawfare, and a Muslim mouthpiece. He kept blaming the killing of Jews on the “occupation”. Brooke did a great job of saying that the Muslim killing of Jews long predated the “occupation”. She drove her point out by telling him that we shouldn’t attribute the Arab killing of Jews to the “occupation” when the Arabs and their leaders don’t. They all attribute it to the demands of the Koran.

Wednesday following claims made by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that Adolf Hitler initially had no intention of massacring European Jewry.

In a speech to delegates at the 37th World Zionist Congress in Jerusalem on Tuesday, the premier claimed that Hitler’s original intentions were solely to expel the Jews.

According to Netanyahu, the Fuhrer changed his mind at the insistence of the Palestinian Arab leader at the time, Haj Amin al-Husseini, who argued that the expulsion of the Jews would result in their arrival en masse to Palestine, which at the time was under British Mandatory rule.

Europe is dying because it has become morally incompetent. It isn’t that Europe stands for nothing. It’s that it stands for shallow things, shallowly. Europeans believe in human rights, tolerance, openness, peace, progress, the environment, pleasure. These beliefs are all very nice, but they are also secondary.

T. Belman. The author makes some very important points. Essentially to accept the “status quo” is to accept the domination of Sharia. Islam has no right to dictate who can come on the Temple Mount or pray there. They have such a right in their own mosques. But the Temple Mount was created by Jews for Jews and the Muslims didn’t acquire suzerainty over it by building their two mosques on it.

The fact that al-Aqsa is not in danger, does not mean that the status quo on the Temple Mount should remain constant. To the contrary, it must change on both strategic and moral grounds; and for the sake of true Israeli-Palestinian peace.

The debate began in 2002 after 16 Israelis were murdered in a suicide bombing at the Matza restaurant in Haifa, executed by a Palestinian who had been granted “family reunification” and an Israeli ID card because his mother had married an Israeli Arab. The Citizenship Law, passed in 2003, decided that Palestinians who marry Israeli Arabs would not be granted legal or residency status in Israel.

Kuwaiti paper reports senior IDF source held covert meeting in Ramallah to have PA police stationed permanently on Mount.

A Kuwaiti paper reported on Monday that a high level talk took place in the Palestinian Authority (PA) governmental seat of Ramallah, in which it was proposed that PA Security Forces be posted on the Temple Mount – the holiest site in Judaism.

The covert meeting between a senior IDF source and a senior PA source in Ramallah was reported by the Kuwaiti paper Al Jarida, as cited by NRG, and was said to have taken place on Saturday.

T. Belman.  Today I attended a lecture by Amb Alan Baker and Michal Navoth, hosted by the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA) on the subject of Jerusalem. The former asked “Is Jerusalem Negotiable?” and the latter discussed “The Status of Jerusalem in U.S. Foreign Policy, Legislation and Supreme Court Decisions”. Baker pointed out that contrary to the political stance of most Israelis that Jerusalem is and will remain the undivided capital of Israel, the Israeli governments from time to time have always entered into negotiations to divide it. Navoth, an Israeli attorney, said that not only do the Republican and Democrat administrations differ, but the Democratic Party itself is divided. I will provide links to their very informed papers next week.

A few days ago I posted, Wave of Palestinian violence shatters myth of ‘united Jerusalem’.

It is my belief that the status quo in Jerusalem will remain forever.The same goes for the “occupation”. No one will agree to a different arrangement. And this is so notwithstanding that there are many arguments suggesting a different arrangement.

And by the way, PM halts placement of barriers between Jewish, Arab areas of Jerusalem because it might suggest a divided Jerusalem.

Moscow taking over fight against ISIS from U.S.

In taking over the fight in Syria against ISIS from the United States, the Russians are allying themselves with the Syrian Kurds, who constitute most of the ground forces against ISIS, according to a report from Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin.

But the move also exacerbates already prickly relations between the Kremlin and Turkey.

While Turkey has continued to help ISIS facilitate the movement of recruits and supplies into Syria, Ankara has agreed to aid the United States in going after ISIS in Syria in exchange for Washington’s use of its Incirlik Airbase.

Three Arabs were killed and at least 100 others were injured as Israeli forces opened fire at rioters attempting to breach the border fence between the Gaza Strip and Israel on Friday. At least 11 Arabs were shot and dozens sustained tear gas inhalation and were shot with rubber-coated steel bullets during the rioting, Palestinian media sources reported.

On Shabbat morning, attempts were resumed by Gazan Arabs to break through the border with Israel, and were blocked by IDF forces.

The next intifada is on, and the Obama administration, as one would expect, is on the wrong side.

There has been a spike in Palestinian terrorism over the past few weeks. One has to call it a spike because Palestinian terrorism is always thrumming — there’s never a real stop. About 70 Israelis have recently been mauled, and some killed, in over two dozen sneak attacks, mostly by stabbing.

The ultimate cause of the rampage is the Palestinian determination to eradicate Israel’s existence as a Jewish state by a two-track campaign of internal violence and international political pressure. As I’ve previously detailed, this is the “one-state solution” preferred by Islamists and Leftists. It is abetted, wittingly or not, by the “two-state solution,” a bipartisan Beltway obsession that entails pressuring Israel to accommodate next-door neighbors who will be satisfied with nothing less than burning its house down.
