Chairman of the Jordan Valley Regional Council David Elhayani slammed the Civil Administration Sunday, attributing an agenda to the government office for promoting Bedouin building on Jewish land in Judea and Samaria.

“The Civil Administration promotes this plan on its own initiative, and it will affect our future,” Elhayani warned, in a special interview with Arutz Sheva. “I spoke with a number of ministers and the Secretary of the Cabinet, and no one seems to know about this plan; this is outrageous and cannot be explained.”

Elhayani stated that the new town, dubbed “Tlat Nu’ima,” is due to be built north of Yeriho (Jericho) in Samaria – and be populated mostly by Bedouin east of Jerusalem.  Read more…

New York City’s Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Friday that an anti-Islamic ad campaign on the city’s buses was “outrageous, inflammatory and wrong.”

The ads, which will appear on 100 New York City buses and two subway entrances next week, have “no place in New York City, or anywhere,” he said in a statement to the Daily News.

The ads are paid for by the American Freedom Defense Initiative run by blogger Pamela Geller. She says the campaign highlights points about Islam ignored by government and media.

In helping to organize Monday’s protest against the Metropolitan Opera’s decision to air the “The Death of Klinghoffer” at Lincoln Center, the fact that the mass of the major establishment organizations are nowhere to be found in speaking out about this issue is tremendously disheartening.

This is not a “right-wing” issue, or about Judea & Samaria – it is about celebrating the murderers of innocent people.

This play mocks a mockery of the killing of Leon Klinghoffer, a handicapped New York World War II veteran. While the show has widely been denounced as anti-Semitic and sympathetic to the hijackers, and was cancelled after 9/11, next week it will begin to be played in New York City.

On Fox this week: Ambassador John Bolton gave the best analysis of the situation in the Middle East. He said logically, if we believe ISIS is a mortal threat to the U.S., then ISIS must be destroyed as quickly as possible, because the longer we wait, the more difficult and costly it will be.

Secondly, he said it is ridiculous to rely on a coalition, to assume other fighters will do the fighting for us. He said the Free Syrian Army will never be capable of defeating ISIS. He said the same is true of the failed Iraqi Army, and the Kurds. Essentially, he said the only rational solution is to put American troops on the ground in such size and force as to rapidly destroy ISIS in both Syria and Iraq.

The long term solution, according to Bolton, is to focus on Iran, the potential nuclear threat and the central broker of terrorism worldwide. In all this he said Obama has no rational plan to deal with either ISIS or Iran, and to pretend otherwise is to put Americans at tremendous risk of injury, death, and even defeat.

The United States senate voted unanimously to pass the United States-Israel Strategic Partnership Act late Thursday evening.The bipartisan legislation was authored by Senators Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Roy Blunt (R-MO) had 81 co-sponsors, out of a total of 100 Senators.

Much of this is cosmetic, what with the midterm elections looming closer, but there is some important meat here.

A “solution to the conflict” between the Israelis and Palestinians will be put to the UN Security Council, French President Francois Hollande said yesterday after meeting Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas in Paris.

“We will have a resolution, to be presented to the Security Council, that will say very clearly what we expect from the (peace) process and what the solution to the conflict must be,” Hollande told reporters.

The French president said that stop-start negotiations had gone on “too long” and “there is a perception that there will never be a solution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, even though we know the outlines” of a possible deal”.

PM Netanyahu’s Cabinet is set to vote on Sunday on part of the path of the Gush Etzion security barrier, according to an IDF Radio (Galei Tzahal) report on Thursday night.

For years, Arab and Jewish residents of Gush Etzion have strongly protested against this security fence, as both sides are against its construction. They managed to get the construction of the fence frozen until now.

In 2006, radical leftwing groups filed petitions to have the path of the fence moved onto the pre-67 side of the 1949 armistice line, rather than including Gush Etzion. Read more…

The bottom line is that to hold on to a united Jerusalem, Israel must act forcefully to restore its full and active jurisdiction in all parts of the holy city. It must wield a big baton against Arab insurgents that are threatening the stability of the city. And there is no better time to act than now.

Last month, the Education Ministry barred school trips from entering the Old City of Jerusalem through Jaffa Gate. It’s too dangerous, the ministry decided.

Instead, the thousands of kids (and adults) now visiting the holy city every evening on pre-High Holiday Selichot (penitential prayer) tours must march around the Old City and enter through Zion Gate directly into the Jewish Quarter. There is less chance of getting stoned that way.

This frightful and frightening decision reflects the ominously deteriorating security situation in Jerusalem.

The brutal Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group has been conquering massive swathes of Syria and Iraq, and recently extended a foothold in Lebanon – now the push of the group’s over 30,000 jihadsts has brought them to the very gates of Turkey in Syria’s north.

Fierce fighting between ISIS and Kurdish forces Thursday night ended with the jihadists conquering 21 northern Syrian villages in 24 hours.

The ISIS fighters also besieged the Kurdish city Ayn al-Arab (Kobani in Kurdish) located a mere 12 miles from the Turkish border, reports Al Jazeera as cited by Walla!.

American oil companies used to sponsor a lot of cultural programming. As the Saudis nationalized and began to take control, that has shifted.

The Saudis are not big opera buffs, but their regime spreads anti-Semitism around the world. And the Metropolitan Opera’s current decision to mount The Death of Klinghoffer, a widely denounced anti-Semitic modern opera in a season packed with productions that are rarely less than a century old, is a curious aberration.

The Metropolitan Opera’s manager Peter Gelb is predicting bankruptcy in two years as the Met has blown through a fortune, for example spending $169,000 on a poppy field used as opera scenery.

American bombs aren’t yet falling on Syria, but on Tuesday Chuck Hagel suggested they soon will. “This plan includes targeted actions against ISIL safe havens in Syria, including its command and control, logistics capabilities and infrastructure,” the Secretary of Defense told the Senate. Martin Dempsey, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, added that the attacks “will be persistent and sustainable.” Let’s hope so, because no campaign to destroy the Islamic State can succeed without waging a campaign on both sides of an Iraqi-Syrian border that the terrorist group long ago erased in the name of its caliphate. The Islamic State’s capital is in the Syrian city of Raqqa, which it has held for over a year. It has recently scored major military victories against Bashar Assad’s regime and moderate rebels of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), particularly in the embattled city of Aleppo.
